Vélo Magazine has published the Velo d'Or results for 2012. It awards the best French cyclist and the best cyclist. Cyclists can be picked among any discipline of cycling. IIRC it's only readers who vote.
French Vélo d'Or :
1) Thomas Voeckler
2) Julie Bresset
3 & 4) Arnaud Démare / Thomas Pinot
5) Grégory Baugé
Vélo d'Or International :
1) Bradley Wiggins
2) Tom Boonen
3) Joaquin Rodriguez (L'Équipe spelt it Joaquim - morons)
4) Philippe Gilbert
5) Peter Sagan |

JoaquÃn in spanish, Joaquim is the catalonian spelling , so both are correct but he's usually called in the catalonian version

It is Joaquim.
I think it's because he's Catalonian, but I'm not sure.

Yeey, good for Wiggins!
You think he actually gives a shit? Maybe a bit because I guess he'll receive a bit extra prize money? Or doesn't it work that way? |

Argos, Saxo and Lotto is my hope and my guess.
Especialy Lotto, with Greipel, VdB and Vanendert, don't relegate them! |

I'd say Argos over FDJ. No offence to anyone but Argos has more talent imo. |

A wrong decision to move up Wiggins if you ask me.
Either they move up everyone during all of Armstrong's Tours, or they don't move up anyone. This sends mixed messages.

I guess they dont mind removing him from all of his comeback results since he didnt manage to win anything. Its hardly consistent though.

Nope. Purito's name is Joaquim, and as he's not a Pope or a King, it shouldn't be translated to Spanish, or any other language for that matter. I bet you don't say Andrés Klöden or Cristóbal Froome.

Well FDJ has a guy who can actually fight for high placement in Tour and two special sprinters (same with argos here). Overall i think FDJ is much better in terms of riders, talent is not important for next years cycling much...
And Wiggins moved to third?Pfff....

In Spain some catalonian people like to use their names in catalonian, while others prefer the spanish version, it is simply the benefit of having a double cultural heritage. But then of course, a die-hard catalonian nationalist would agree with you ...
