Hesjedall will crack friday I think. Purito will atack on Pampeago I hope.
For today, I betted on Kreuziger
Then, Hesjedal will win the Giro and Purito will lose a lot of time in Pampeago...
Yeah my intuition (as far as I have that) abandoned me

Yay, Rujano finishes the stage 34 minutes down. Cav makes it on 38 mins.

Cavendish only three minutes behind Rujano... Who would have thought that? Any news on why he failed so badly?

I can easily relate Rujano to: "I don't always do well on the Giro... but when I do, no one is expecting." |

I am a bit dissapointed about Henao and Tiralongo. Maybe the magic 2000m border?

It does no harm, but it isn't necessary. |

People not listing Hesjedal as a contender, pre race...
He did get Top 10 at the Tour with no team support, and he's doing well here with little to no team support in the mountains.
I was always thinking Top 5 at best, but he's been able to hang on when he needs to.
Happy I will be able to see Friday's stage, although every stage I've watched live he's been dropped

De Gendt could legitimately aim for a top 15-20 here.
Erm... he's 9th already
Yeah but there are better climbers behind him who should beat him up the Stelvio. If he rides his own pace then gains time in the TT he can end up there.
What better climbers are behind him then? He just finished in the group that sprinted for 7th place
I feel you are watching a different race?
Gadret
Nieve
Cataldo
Cunego
Henao possibly
Moreno possibly
I think that Hesjedal is a better climber than the ones you wrote there

They didn't do much better than de Gendt today, as I said.
Henao and Moreno even did a lot worse.
Not saying De Gendt is such an avid climber. But he's doing better than expected. I think he acn hold on top 10 knowing there is a final ITT.
Also. is this also part of Kreuzigers plan? when he dropped of the pace this weekend he said it didn't matter and it was part of a plan. Is this the continuation of said plan? |

Henao doesn't like continiously steep climbs. It's a guy who'd fare better in France on climbs of 5/6/7% and 12-20km.
Think he'll suffer some more on the Mortirolo. Too steep! Stelvio is perfect though, but by then, he'd probably be dropped already |

He should suffer already on friday if that's the case. Pampeago is everything but easy.

I know.
I'm not that suprised by Hesjedal tbh. When i read stories about him focussing on the giro... And if he climbs as well as TDF 2010 than it was to be expected he could do well. But in 2011 he was slightly off (also due to injuries).
A top hesjedal can top 5 because the giro field is pretty weak. And now he's even stronger than before so possibly even top 3. I don't think he'll crack in the weekend. He might lose time but hesjedal never really cracks. He can ride own pace and has a smilar climbing style as Gesink. |

Finally. This is what I have wanted to say, for the longest time!
Its why I like Gesink so much actually

I think it is between Basso and Hesjedal now. |
