Garmin - 4th season Giro d`Italia
tsmoha
Good result in Dwars, even though Maaskant has been the top-favourite here..

Lack of motivation is definitely bad news, but I do understand all of your points, reasons for that Wink In the end, it's up to you, of course, but you can be sure, that people will follow all of your stories! Sure, we would miss this Garmin-one, but this idea of an Kiwi team with all of your NZ races sounds great as well! If you would need some more Aussie/NZ-races, just let me know.. I made a fantasy PCM10-Tasmania-Tour, for example.

Too much off-topic-text, I know Rolling Eyes

Thanks. Wink Unfortunately the PPDB just has 6 Aussie teams and PureblackCycling in NZ. No Subway-Avanti team for example.
I already tested a bit around to see if the startlists in these races are a bit realistic when riding with all my self added NZ races. So will see later. Wink
I still have some motivation to podium the Giro with Dan Martin for example but lacking motivation in many "less important" races.
But maybe having this break for University is good. Afterwards everything can be different. Smile

Kinda boring, but the same answer for me. Of course I hope it'll continue as it is one of the best and longest stories. But I'll understand if it doesn't. Anyway, good race in Dwars Door Vlaanderen, too bad that Van Hecke had the day of his life.

Hope everything's well with you, roturn, and hope you get your motivation back. Even if not, this is really one of the most legendary stories of the forum. Wink

As for the race, it's not the first time a Topsport rider win crazily after more than half of the race spent in the lead... Cya logic. Pfft

You will have to get your Mojo back roturn because i can't do without your story, it's really GoodSmile

Thanks all for your understanding. Smile
Here another report from the next Catalunya stage. This story is surely not over, just can`t promise you that regular reports at the moment. Not before my exams.

Volta Ciclista a Catalunya - Stage 4
Oliana - Ascó
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_4_1.jpg
After the hard stage yesterday it`s time for the sprinters again. Haussler is surely one of the top favourites. But also other riders like Steegmans, Brown or Bozic can`t be forgotten. Also the surprise of this Catalunya Peter Sagan must be names as he already won the first sprint finish and proved his excellent form also in the mountains.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_4_2.jpg
A big group of 12 riders attacked early and have been allowed a gap of over 5min. With former Garmin rider Hunter (Shack), Milán (Caja Rural), A.Rasmussen (Lampre), Arvesen (Sky) or Cusin (Cofidis) some pretty good riders are in this group.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_4_3.jpg
As some riders are just 10min back in the overall result Movistar and Garmin are doing the pace soon.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_4_4.jpg
With 110km and almost 6min advance Murphy, Duggan and Pate are completely doing the pace now as Haussler really wants this stage today.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_4_5.jpg
It`s not looking too god with 30km to go and still a 4 minutes gap. Luckily Quickstep (Steegmans) and Rabobank (Brown) took over from us and the gap immediately decreases a lot.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_4_6.jpg
And with about 10km to go the group is finally caught. Time for the sprinters, who can all be seen in the first rows now.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_4_7.jpg
Quickstep and Rabobank are forming their trains with Bonnet (FDJ) still having one helper behind as also Sagan, Haussler and Dumoulin.

When FDJ and Rabobank is starting the sprint very early Haussler is trying to find their wheel and leaves Sagan, who is still waiting for the Quickstep guys.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_4_8.jpg
In the end probably the wrong decision as Sagan again proves to be strongest sprinting to his 2nd stage win this season.
Steegmans finishing 2nd ahead of Haussler.
The early moves by Bonnet (12.) and Brown (15.) didn`t work out today.

3rd behind Sagan and Steegmans is good!

Nice 3rd...

So unlucky for Haussler, he should have had that one in the bagFrown

MitchNL
3rd is still a nice result, you're still in front of guys like Bozic and Freire. I'm just wondering what Cadel Evans does in 10th...

roturn
Thanks all.
@sutty: Indeed Haussler is the best sprinter in this field and has a good form. So a bit unlucky. Sagan just too strong.

@Mitch: Evans has the yellow. This explains a lot as he will always sprint then. Freire is just 72 sprint after 3 seasons, but his 70 hill might have helped him as the last km was slightly uphill.

MitchNL
Forgot that this story is already in 2013... Embarassed

But still, 3th is a very good result. Hope that you can do well in the GC.

roturn
Yep. It`s already the 4th season. So Freire is pretty old now. Wink
Unfortunately the next stage crashed the first time short before the finish. Luckily the new outcome was similar but a bit worse...

Volta Ciclista a Catalunya - Stage 5
Ascó - Cabacés
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_5_15.jpg
Some hills between the start and finish line. A perfect stage for a breakaway. And with 20 KoM to get surely a stage where Peterson (26) wants to be in the break.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_5_16.jpg
So he joins directly the first attacking move. Bad for him that he is just +4'41 in the rankings, but at least he wants to try.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_5_17.jpg
Unfortunately two other riders are not happy with it. Cardoso (26) and leader Rohregger (33) counter this move in a second wave including 3 Caja Rural riders.

But due to this big size of the new group they are caught soon and a new attack brings success.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_5_18.jpg
There all 3 KoM contender are included. So it could become an interesting stage.
Lagutin (Vacansoleil), Borghini (Liquigas), Hupond (Skil), De la Parte (Caja Rural), Zubeldia (Geox), Kaisen (Lotto) and Jørgensen (Saxo Bank) fulfill this new group.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_5_19.jpg
Movistar and FDJ are doing the pace behind. Actually a breakaway is in their interest to avoid bonus seconds for Sagan.
Just the well placed Peterson must be annoying.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_5_20.jpg
Cardoso takes first KoM ahead of Peterson and Rohregger.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_5_21.jpg
While Peterson closely wins the 2nd ahead of Cardoso and again Rohregger,
This means all three will have 43 points now. Might be interested, who is listed first afterwards.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_5_22.jpg
With 65km to go and still more than 8min advance Movistar has to do something as Peterson became a big danger now.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_5_23.jpg
Even after the last hill the advance is still at 6min. The stage win is surely for this break but how far can Peterson improve today?

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_5_24.jpg
Zubeldia, Kaisen and also Peterson attack out of this group with 11km to go. All 3 are working together very well hoping for some bonus seconds.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_5_25.jpg
Behind the only attacks are coming from Frank Schleck and Pauriol but both are far behind in the rankings and no danger.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_5_26.jpg
After having a constant 45s gap the three are caught again with just 3km as Kaisen and Zubeldia started tactical moves with 6km to go not working any longer. Stupid guys.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_5_27.jpg
In the end Cardoso proves to be strongest and takes the stage ahead of Lagutin and Jørgensen.
Unfortunately Peterson lost contact in the end after working the most in the attacking group and is even counted +43.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_5_28.jpg
Bozic leads the peloton over the line ahead of Steegmans and Haussler as 3rd again.

Peterson will improve to 13th overall thanks to these 43 seconds. Otherwise a top5 would have been possible.
At least he gets the KoM jersey and brings us the lead in the team ranking.

Yep. It`s already the 4th season. So Freire is pretty old now. Wink

Checked it, Freire must be 37 already, and Cadel 36. Yes, pretty old indeed. Wink

A pity Peterson lost connection, but 4th in the GC and the lead in the team classification and the KoM is still excellent!

Good stage for Peterson. Wins haven't been coming, but conquering a jersey is also good. Hope he can keep it until the end. Wink

At least he tried...and even managed to get KOM jersey and brought some good time bonus for teams classification.....good stage from Peterson.
