F*** F*** F***
That's horrible news.
CONI lacked jurisdiction to make that decision, says the UCI. That means CONI lacks jurisdiction to suspend Valverde. That means he's going to walk.
EDIT: unless, of course, the UCI grows a spine all of a sudden.

Yeah, but they can't force races in Italy to let him ride, can they? So it's just the global ban that is scrapped? |

Well, the way I gather it is:
The UCI was all up for the full 2 year ban.
CONI subtracted a couple of months for "good behaviour" for spitting some names, you know, the usual.
CONI then say that Ricco can race from the March date.
UCI say, no, he can't, you don't have that jurisdiction.
So when the UCI were questioned about "lengthening" the ban, they were right in saying, no, they haven't. They've just kept to the rules.
As to what will happen to Valverde, that all comes down to whether the evidence that CONI say's it has, actually proves he's done anything. Otherwise he'll still get to race.
No lies, just the usual bad reporting from cyclingnews.

Frank and Andy's middle names are René and Raymond. You may now laugh histerically at them. |

If Andy ever becomes as whiny and nasal-voiced as Ray Romano I'll shoot him myself. |

To be more precise, Andy and Fränk Schleck were staying in the hotel where my sister works in Eindhoven last year and this year during the Dutch after-Tour criteriums.
She said their room was a total mess just 1 hour after they got there (note: she is not housekeeper or roomservice, she heard that from colleague's) |

Actually the saddest thing is that the Schleck brothers are the closest thing cycling has to the Jonas brothers... |
