Stage 16
Cuneo - Jausiers
You probably know this profile...
Lövkvist going for early solo in La Lombarde..he is apssing all breakaway guys..and is clear for hard solo ride...
Main group starting to take La Bonette..Astana again in front (Armstrong)..everyone who is atacking now will be caught by him..climbing speed is real high..
Sanchez..trying to get away..
..no..Astana coming back with power..Nibali likes the current situation..
..but then Evans and Sastre atack..
Valverde, Leipheimer, Schleck (Fränk) and Cunego going after...
Moment later Gesink..
then Sanchez..and there is breakaway man Lövkvist..they pass him one after another..he cant keep up..
G1..Evans group..Sastre, Leipheimer, Evans and Gesink
G2..all other top 10 raiders..good to have both Kreuiger and Nibali in there..
Descent...G1..first 4 all still together..
G2..this is lonely Sanchez..again descending like "stone"..
G3..hugh group ..where is Nibali..Kreuziger?
Here he comes with Armstrong..they managed do drop him before the descent..he is trying to get back..
..wow ..big guy Karpets is down..this will affect to he's GC status..
Sanchez has first group in the reach..
...When Evans launches another atack..
..and takes stage win nr. ? ..is it five already..
that speed in last corner after such hard stage is to much for Cobo ...he go's down..he will loose a time but news is that he is able to continue..

you are so close to the top 10. Even the 8th place is only a few seconds in front of Nibali. Good luck, though that the Alpe d'Huez one will be hard for Nibali.

I am ready for Alpe d'Huez ..we have aimed our peak in that stage..Yes it's possible to get inside top 10..but there is still long TT left..then we have to protect it against possible guys Roger and Gerdemann, Karpets maybe..50-50 chanche |

yeah Karpets is dangerous. You can beat Schleck with some minutes, but Karpets could come from behind and take you top 10 place.

Just got to keep Frank 'I can't time trial' Shleck close on GC. I cannot see any of those behind overtaking Nibali.
So Armstrong is Leiphiemers super domestique who would have thought!
But yeah the Alpe D'Heuz all to play for - will it be stage win number 6 for Evans? |

Stage 17
Embrun - L'Alpe d'Huez.
Stage what I have been waiting for..
Seems like Columbia has reserves to send guy out front for every day..yesterday was Lövkvist ..today Hincapie..he is going alone in La Croix..
Moncoutie has a technical problem..
Before Alpe d'Huez..group comes back together..there is last breakaway raider Hincapie...
Sastre remembers he's epic ride here last year..but then he had strong team around him. He is going first..
Schleck, Evans, Valverde and Sanchez..
But has we already used to..Armstrong at the front of main group..and Astana takes all breakaway raiders down..
all back together..Kreuziger protecting Nibali..
..second wave..Schleck, Gesink, Cunego, Leipheimer, Valverde..
Scleck getting away..now Efimkin and Cobo trying to follow..
Situation..G1 Fränk is leading..
G2..Evans, Leipheimer, Cobo, Efimkin, Valverde, Cobo, Gesink, Cunego..
Evans decided to go..he is going alone after Schleck..
..you might already wonder ..where is Liquigas climbing duo..theyr start now..at the moment they are with Rogers ,Moreau and Popo..but moving good..own tempo.
They have caught Gerdemann..Kreuziger doing amazing job for Nibali...
Kreuziger has given all ..he cracks ..now is Nibali turn..he has left Gerdemann, Moreau , Rogers, Popo group behind..and go's after Lepheimer-Sastre group..
Fränk taking he's second Alpe d'Huez stage win..
Evans 2nd. ..he is just dont giving up..this is already almost TdF win for him..
Valverde trying atack away from Leipheimer group into last km..he has a goal..podium place..
Nibali comes with Gesink and Leipheimer..amazing climbing..and award..inside GC top 10

Great teamwork there to propel Nibali up into the top 10.
The results are interesting not completely dissimilar to last years tour de France, only without the likes of Menchov (replaced by the impressive Gesink), oh and of course the presence of Astana who seem to be helping Evans more than hindering him!!!
Would it be greedy to think that Nibali could be alert to grabbing some more seconds on the likes of Schlek or Gesink before that final TT? |

Stage 18
Le Bourg d'Oisans - St Etienne
Last chanche to make difference in GC table before ITT...Nibali will be ready on that last hill..but also I keep my other option open..to drag Fischer over this hill in the main group..
..and here we are. Sastre is trying to get away..
Cunego, Schleck and Sanche going after him..
Fischer has serious problems to keep up..
..then it's even harder..when Evans, Karpets and Nibali counters..
After hill top..Nibali is looking Evans and Cobo..Let's go?!..no they dont like to go..and this is usless to try this alone..
Mass sprint..Dekker is leading Fischer with Hoshovd follows Cancellara..(they are only pure sprinters who has survived that climb)..
They are going together..
Hushovd again..he is clearly best sprinters after mountain stages..
Fischer just managed to hold 2nd. against Hoste and Dekker (2nd...again..another one)..

Evans is greedy he wants the Green Jersey to go with the Yellow and Polka Dot jersey!!!
However barring a crash its on the back of our man Fischer (Guido watch out for men trying to 'silence' your green jersey wearer in the next two stages) |

Stage 21
Etampes - Paris Champs-Elyses
Parade stage...Fischer who has just one stage win but still leading points classification..liked to have another win..he know that that is even harder in Champs..
Here they are..3 weeks of racing is behind..Paris..
Breakaway group is still out there..if pack wonr react soon they will take stage win...
No other team dont like to go after them..so Liquigas has moved to the front.."You idiots this is Champs-Élysées"...
Finaly Quickstep and Columbia starting to work hard..they are closing and fast..but this was probably to late..same time at the front..Brard and Franck Bouyer..atacking away from front group..
Mandri and Millar in breakaway group..they missed life time oportunity?
Frensh guy will take last stage win..wich one?
Franck Bouyer passes..
..and he takes stage win..tour was starting with surprise win..and also will end with that..
Boonen winning the mass sprint when peloton arrives minut later..
Gesink..best young raider..after last TT Nibali was just 40 sec. short to take this jersey. But Gesink was clearly better in mountains...always in the front group..active..well done good Tour..
Sastre wearing polka-dot..Evans is real owner. Sastre was strong and also in shape..without that windy day mistake he had been in podium..
..man who stick with the plan..he knows that he isnt fastest sprinter in the pack..but experience and stability..always with the best. Has given him clear point jersey win..beat that Bennati in Vuelta..
Tour dominator Evans..always at front..collecting 5 stage win..super strong perfomance starting at tour first day and ending with final long TT..he did not made any mistake..
For us Nibali 9th. is super result..he has great year succesful Giro and TdF behind..
Kreuziger 15th. is also good result..he was beating Nibali in all TT stages but in mountains..(specialy alps)..was Nibali a little better..
Team should thank Daniel Oss..he was all tour around Ficher..was pulling him in sprint position.. This was already second GT for young raider..he has done more then enough.
