And I'm still yet to see it. On my non-live broadcast, LSS has attacked. I'm still waiting for Conta to crack

And who tought Sastre would do so well on the ITT in Tour de France?
Even most of the riders thought that It wasn't enoug vs Evans..
He had some hours in a wind tunnel in america I think which can definetly help to improve in TTs especially you see then the optimal position which you have to held, a good position is very important because of the less aerodynamic resistance so I wasn´t very surprised of his TT at Le Tour

Watching it now. There's no doubt that he's trying to ride in a pace that he just can't after he's been dropped. It had to lead to a crack. |

And what if Contador done the same. And maybe trained even more in wind tunnels and on the TT bike infront of this season....? It's like Sastre can improve in a age of over 32 or something but Conta in ages of 25-26 cant improve? Hahah thats just stupid!

Like in 2007 when he won the Tour: kept making explosive attacks that he couldn't sustain....until he cracked and got dropped even by Leipheimer.

That's not the point. What you're saying is valid for physical improvement. Sastre improved his aerodynamic efficiency.
The more efficient your position, the less it can be improved, of course. All that is done in a wind tunnel is testing different positions on the bike to see if they can find you one that is more aerodynamic and therefore faster.
Contador, Cunego and Zabriskie for instance have done a heck of a lot of wind tunnel testing. They won't improve any more aerodinamically.
Compare that to, Tony martin, for instance, who had a horrible position until he improved it a couple of months ago. So this year he's much faster in the time trial.

Yes but Cant contador train on his TT bike and improve? Or doesent that work? Ofcourse it works.
Who know how he trained.. So to say he have used dope is just wrong. Why you watch Cycling if you think the people who do well is doped then?

And ok Sastre have been in Wind tunnel. But why suddently he did so well in the last TT and not so good in the first....? Maybe because of the shape but. Who knows.

Indeed this is terrible..I questioned Astana team capacity few days back..but where they hell are they:
Armstrong group had always some guy near in top 10..
now: (yesterday status)
32 Yaroslav Popovych (Ukr)
73 Sergio Paulinho (Por) Astana
74 Daniel Navarro (Spa) Astana
91 Haimar Zubeldia
110 Michael Schär (Swi) Astana
112 Benjamin Noval
What a grap result.. |

Of course he can. Except that's not what people are talking about. Sastre had aerodinamic gains, which are always massive. Contador can only improve physically. And he probably will, given his age.
Anyway, here's what I think is really fun and nobody mentioned:
Contador got caught and dropped by all those people.....AND STILL NOT ONE TEAMMATE WAS THERE

Paulinho fell a few days ago and is pretty hurt, so he at least has an excuse.

I think the other teams started to ride really fast from start and tryed to get Team Astana tired. Or something.

Take a look at Sastre's time trial results in the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Tour de Frances. Prologues not included.
2006: 18th, 19th
2007: 25th, 16th
2008: 27th, 10th
If you think that's a huge performance boost, think again. Ok, the final time trial last year was a fantastic performance from Sastre, but if you consider how average Evans' TT was, it's no surprise at all he managed to keep the jersey.
