Laurens De Plus didn't arrive to the race in a great shape and that was reflected by a poor performance in the opening time - trial as he lost 40 seconds to Roglic. It looked like things might turn around when he put in a winning move in the third stage, but things dialed back when we reached the mountains.
De Plus celebrates his first win since March
Roglic looked set for a third consecutive win in Suisse, despite the team change. After landing the yellow jersey to team mate Enric Mas for a stage, he did eventually lose the jersey for good in the last very stage, when Giro winner Adam Yates put in a tremendous attack to take the win from Roglic by only 4 seconds. A dramatic outcome for the Slovenian as a third consecutive win here would have put him in the history books.
Yates on his way to win the final stage and the overall

Uno-X were determined not to let a breakaway go away today, but eventually all of their riders tired out of chasing every single attack and two riders, including Jumbo's Tobias Foss, got away.
Halfway through their attack, Foss dropped his companion and went on to take a fantastic solo win. Vegard Stake Laengen attacked quite a long way from the finish line but he could not make up the grown to Foss. The two of them managed to finish the first 2 in both competitions this year, with the Interpro rider taking the time - trial title.

A change of pace in Belgium as the traditional flat course with a few hundred meters of cobbles is replaced with a hilly route. A group of three riders would fight off for the victory, but sadly Jumbo's Louis Vervaeke didn't have the speed of Wellens and Teuns, with the Lotto rider claiming the win.
Jumbo will have one of the blue, yellow and red jersey in their roster for the next year as Laurens De Plus repeated his 2019 feat in the time - trial.

De Plus has looked very good at the beginning of the season, winning Algarve and Tirreno, but looked rather shaky in Suisse. Still, he will be looking to show that last year's second place in La Vuelta was no fluke and will be looking for another GT podium here. And he has a fantastic team behind him with Kruijswijk, Powless and Kelderman.
Geraint Thomas will be hoping to defend his title but the competition is fierce and the Ineos squad looks really really bad as compared to what we are used to. Bardet finished second in the last two years but this year he will be a luxury domestique for Geoghegan Hart, who looks to be G's main rival with Lopez. But the Colombian has been out with an injury since Itzulia so it will be interesting to see where his fitness levels are.

[img-l]https://i.imgur.com/OFh7zwr.png[/img-l] | Tour de France: Stage 1 | [img-r]https://i.imgur.com/OFh7zwr.png[/img-r] |
We kickoff this year's Tour de France with a 15km time - trial in Monaco, with the first half of the course on a climb followed by a downhill to the finish line.
Soler looked great early this season in Paris - Nice, but then took a step back behind Nibali in Il Giro, but it looks like he could be Mitchelton's man this race as he set up a good early time to stay in the leader's seat for quite a while
Dennis took the opener last year and he has the chance to repeat the feat this year as he manages to beat Soler's time by 1 just second despite being a bit behind at the top of the climb
Geoghegan Hart had a brilliant Dauphine and it looks like he is set to do it in the Tour as well. A very good performance by him, just 4 seconds slower than Dennis
Froome hasn't look quite like himself last year and the first half of this season but today we saw the rider that we are used to as the Lotto ride flew through the course to beat Dennis' time by 16 seconds!
Not a bad start but not a great one either from De Plus to his Tour de France campaign. The fresh Belgian Champion stopped the clock 23 seconds slower than Froome
A good rider by Thomas as he starts his title defence. He finished 12 seconds behind Froome, but finished ahead of everyone else and the last two Tour de France winners are the first two riders in today's stage
Lopez is arguably the best climber in the World right now, but after a big break it will be tough for him to compete with the very best. Still, it's the mountains were we expect him to shine, not time - trials. 39 seconds down today

Despite finishing second on the third category climb, Romain Seigle would go on to win two of the next four category climbs and become the first wearer of the polka dot jersey.
Jumbo and Deceuninck fight for supremacy in a very nervous first mass sprint of this year's Tour de France. The stakes are as high as ever when it comes to a sprint in Le Tour
But both trains make mistakes. Teunissen spends too much time behind a surprisingly slow Van Aert, while Demare leaves Ackermann alone in the win too early and with 300 metres to go neither of their sprinters are in contention for the stage win
It's an Ineos rider who takes it! The fresh British Champion, Christopher Lawless take his madden Grand Tour victory in front of Theuns and Mareczko. Quite an unexpected podium for this year's first mass sprint

Another mass sprint in France and once again it's Deceuninck and Jumbo-Visma who are in charge. Quite surprisingly though, the Belgian team is working for Demare today instead of Ackermann
But it proves to be the right move as Demare is clearly the strongest sprinter today and he brings the win for the wolf pack, while Groenewegen takes another fourth place, missing out on the podium

The fourth stage brings a 40km team time - trial and while it won't decide the Tour, it might give some riders a reason to be quite aggressive in the mountains in case they lose more time than what they'd like today
Despite having the defending champion in their squad, Ineos seem to be here for the sprints and today it showed as they had a rather disappointing time, losing 56 seconds to Astana, who were the leaders at the time
Quick Step are also another team way too focused on the sprints when they have such a big name for the GC in their squad in Miguel Angel Lopez. And they do even worse than Ineos, 14 seconds slower than them
Ag2r seemed determined to win the Tour after two consecutive places by Bardet as they hired Geoghegan Hart, but it won't be today the day they do it. Just 20 seconds faster than Ineos
Dennis led Bahrain and Simon Yates to a very good result today. They cross the finish line 24 seconds faster than Ag2r
Mitchelton already have a Grand Tour podium with Nibali this year, but they look set to put Soler in the best position possible this year. They beat Bahrain's time by 14 seconds and take the provisional lead from Astana for 2 seconds
Froome surprisingly took the yellow jersey after the first stage, but he will lose it today as Lotto finish 24 seconds slower than Mitchelton. This might have been the last time we get to see Froome yellow in France
UAE have a very strong line - up this year with Pogacar, Aru and Dan Martin and today it showed. They were 2 seconds faster than Mitchelton!
De Plus led to Jumbo to the stage win as they cross the line 6 seconds faster than UAE, but as he dropped back in the finale, the Belgian actually lost two seconds to his team - mates and will get the yellow jersey but he is credited with the same time as Marc Soler after four stages!

Kevin Ledanois, who also scored 3 KoM points in the third stage, managed to snatch another one day to put an end to Seigle's stint in the polka dots jersey
No sign of the Deceuninck train today and under the flamme rouge, Teunissen and Groenewegen lead the pack
Despite not getting a lot of help from his team - mates, Demare still manages to get involve today as a group of sprinters catch up to a tired Groenewegen right before the finish line
And it's a second win for Arnaud Demare who takes the lead in the green jersey classification as well. A good gamble by Decenunick who decided to give him leadership in the sprints instead of Ackermann. Meanwhile, Groenewegen finishes fourth for the third time

| | | | | | | L. De Plus | | A. Demare | | K. Ledanois | | T. Pogacar |
Before the stage we found out that going for Demare instead of Ackermann for the sprints wasn't a pure tactical decision as Ackermann did not start today due to an injury, which definitely prevented him from performing him from his best in the previous stages
Today's finale is definitely too hard for pure sprinters and as a result Jumbo ended up working for Van Aert today. On the final uphill section Powelss was leading a Belgian duo as the yellow jersey Laurens De Plus, was right in Van Aert's wheel
Kragh Andersen looked very strong today but he was no match for the Jumbo Belgian duo. De Plus could have actually taken today's stage win, but decided to sit up and let his team - mate have the glory
The pack split up on that final uphill section and some GC riders such as Pogacar, Lopez or Kruijswijk ended up losing 50 seconds. A huge amount of time for this type of stage

Despite having over 8 minutes at some point, the breakaway did not manage to keep their advantage in front of a pack decided to have the GC favorites go for the first mountain stage win in this year's Tour
Marc Soler seemed to be the strongest today and as he broke away from the other favorites it felt on De Plus' shoulders to chase him given they are the first two in the general classification
De Plus did get some help after a while from Tao and Froome as the three of them managed to leave the other favorites behind, but still not making any progress on catching up to Soler, who was doing a very brave solo ride
De Plus and Geoghegan Hart did manage to almost catch up to the Spaniard in the very last metres of the climb, but by this time the Spaniard was already celebrating his win
After inheriting the white jersey from Pogacar after yesterday's splits in the pack, Powless manage a very good ride today as he was the first U25 rider across the finish line. Pogacar doesn't seem to have the best climbing legs at the moment so Neilson could have a real shot at the jersey.

Well done by De Plus to defend his yellow jersey. Keep on trying with Groenewegen in the sprints!

Geniez took some important KoM points yesterday but there was no way he would get the jersey with the amount of points in play on the last climb of the day. He would take it form Soler today, but that was all the breakaway could hope for today as the pack wouldn't allow them to get too far with Kelderman present
Catching the breakaway resulted in a very close sprint finish between the favorites. Ciccone would take the win in front of Marc Soler, who would in turn take the yellow jersey from De Plus thanks to the bonus seconds

Alexandre Geniez showed he deserves he wear the polka dots today as he was the first rider across the summit of Col du Tourmalet
The downhill from Tourmalet brought a series of crashes followed by some abandons in the pack. Among those that withdrew: Wout Van Aert and Rohan Dennis.
A lot of GC riders were involved (including Soler, De Plus and Powless) but while most of them made their way back to the main group, Thomas and Lopez did not and would end up over 2 and a half minutes to what has already been a difficult Tour campaign for the both of them
A few kilometres before the finish line a group with Dan Martin, Gaudu and Valverde bridge across to what was left from the breakaway group: Geniez, Van Baarle and Marczynski.
The new group of six would go on to fight for the stage win, with Valverde beating attack companions to take the stage. What a fantastic win for the Spanish legend

With Van Aert out of the Tour, Powless would step from mountain duties to sprint train duties as well. Today, he takes exactly Van Aert's spot between Van Baarle and Teunissen
And Van Baarle and Powless did a fantastic job as there's a split between the Jumbo train and everyone else. Only Mareczko and Philipsen are able to follow. This looks like the perfect opportunity for Groenewegen to take a stage win
And he delivers! It hasn't been the easiest of rides for Groenewegen in the last two Tours after winning the green jersey in 2019 but today everything clicked for the Jumbo train. And with Demare failing to enter the top 10 today, Dylan also takes back a lot of green points
