Criterium du Dauphine Libere - Stage 7
The closest thing we'll come to a queen-stage in this years Dauphine. Our team can work on the flat. But i fear it will only be Landaluze helping Sanchez in the last third of the race.
151km, a rather large breakaway has gone out today. We're keeping them within a reasonable distance though. CSC seems to want to chip in, which we wont complaint about.
88km and we're coming onto the first mountain. It's now Silence-Lotto who sends people forward. If they set a fast pace up the mountainside, we might be in trouble.
Sanchez tells me on the radio that he's not sure he's feeling all that well today. 33km to the top.
12.6km to the top and Sanchez is isolated. He's not havivng a very good day, but he's not suffering too bad yet.
1.8km to the top. Some of the outsiders make a break for it. Devolder, Pfannberger, Kohl. Moreau also tries a little bit but quickly regrets and falls back into the peleton.
Coming dodwn the mountain it's all square again. Sanchez recuperates a little bit as Astana have now taken the lead.
As soon as we hit the final climb Devolder, Joly and Chavanel break away from the pack. Van den Broeck of Lotto and Sørensen of CSC set a high pace. Sanchez, under the circumstances, still seems ok. 18km to the front.
14km to go and it's not Gesink, Noe and Weening in front. Sanchez wipes a bit of sweat from his eyes as the pace is upped.
7.8 to go and Dave Zabriskie is attacking. He must be riding so far outside his limit right now! Evans and Contador sit on Sanchez wheel. They'll be up to something soon!
3.1km to go and here they come. Sanchez counters Contador but comes up a little short, he'll have to grind that gap down before the line!
1300m to go and Sanchez is still a little behind. Evans just keeps on attacking!
And Cadel Evans takes the stage. He had patience to wait for the right moment where he could power home all the way top the summit.
Sanchez however didn't have too much trouble holding on today and loses just around 20 seconds to Evans. We'll still have a minutes lead going into the last stage.
Reaction
Sanchez wasn't feeling to good today, and with the other favorites being clever and waiting that long to attack, Sanchez couldn't catch them as everyone just powered through to the end. The gap wasn't that big however, and we should be able to defend our lead tomorrow.

How do you get Sabchez to be in the top in the rider panel out in the left? Cause i can see that in the start of the stage he's in the middel and later on he's in the top.

Criterium du Dauphine Libere - Stage 8
Final stage of the Dauphine Libere today. We've got the yellow jersey and a 1 minute advantage. It does end on a downhill though, so that should suit us fine.
We try to exercise a bit of control over the pack today. As we come close to the first mountain a few small breaks are still within range. There's a strong sidewind coming in and we decide to up the tempo in the final stretch to the climbs to see what happens.
The peleton did break into 3, but all the favorites kept their cool and stayed at the front. Coming onto the climb, the teams gives it one last effort before CSC take over.
The peleton get stretched and we decide to let Landaluze try and pile on more pressure, 2.1km to the first peak.
The reduced pack comes over the top and Landaluze goes to fetch some water. He find Evans going back to get his own water today. Where is his team?!
The second and smallest peak of the day sees a lot of attacks from riders whore are well behind in the GC. Sanchez is now on his own so we wont worry too much about those.
6,1km from the final peak, Contador, Evans and Sastre attack! Sanchez has to go with them!
Sanchez comes up short and has to fight his way up to the other favorites. As soon as he joins them he's attacked again by Contador and Evans. Still allmost 25km to go!
With 15km of downhilling before the finish we'll get some time back. But a pack of 5 riders are in front of us. Contador, Evans, Leipheimer, Gadret and Halgand.
Sanchez will have work to bring this back!
2400m to the line. We've allmost got them but Sanchez is tired now! They'll gain time on us!
A triumphant contador rolls over the line. Leipheimer is 2nd, Evans 3rd. They've got a good gap to Sanchez. Will he lose the jersey on the final stage?
Sanchez crosses the line after Sastre, it will come down to whether he get's the s.t. as Sastre!

WHEW! That was too close for comfort! Sanchez did well to close the gap on the downhill though, but it's a warning of what's to come. We have to take more control in the mountains in the tour. Everytime we took the inititative we were rewarded for it in this Dauphine. That's a lesson we'll take with us to the tour. |

If you press backspace your riders are sorted after their position in the pack. Closest to the front is top of the list. |

hit the backspace key (the left arrow above the enter key) and the panel will be rearranged in the order that the riders are in the road. It's been this way since PCM1
EDIT: nevermind, just realised it's been answered

Wow what a dauphine. Right down to the wire, exactly what we all wanted You should have enough points now to go throught the whole season withought getting another and stay up. Poor Milram, there always last
Great riding once again, evans was the thorn in your side for that race :x
Cant wait to see how the transfers go and whether its as they promise and more realistic. Lets hope we get valverde
Also on the "Queen stage" of the dauphine look at your riders +'s and -'s, i thought cyanide were making it a much bigger rarity that you get the more extreme ends of the spectrum, but there you have 2 -5's 1 -3 and 1 +2, now that seems a bit extreme to me, plus you got them all at once
Ohwell, i cant wait for the TDF with your story it could be better than the TDF in real life just kidding, but it still could be good!
I suggest to anyone who hasnt read this story to go back and read this story from the beginning, or if not just the giro and the dauphine, great riding mads and awesome story
