A general thought: Maybe Uran wanted to wait for some helpers and took the descent easy at first? I think I remember that Uran had hardly any helpers on top of STelvio.
Only Poels, so thats a possibility... |

Well, Tinkov seems to have heard the same "neutralise"
Guess he's watching on TV as we do.
LOL well he is also in the team car, so he heard it from both sides. |

Tinkoff-Saxo has written on twitter that the message didn't get out to all team cars.
Epic Failure from the Giro Leadership.
If thats true the only fair end needs to be a total neutralisering of the stage.
Quintana wont lose anytime on the climb, its freaking Quintana after all.
It would be unfair for Quintana too, he is making an hell of an effort... |

That is possible as they were getting shelled out the back near the summit, guess Evans was just following wheels aswell and let them go

Cadel looks like he is about to crack. At the back of the chasing group and looking uncomfortable. |

Hesjedal dropped? Hope he gets a good rhythm and cracks Top 10 today. Should pass at leas Poels easily today.
EDIT: Oh, he's there again.

Nobody knew what was going on, in this weather up the Stelvio it was real confusion. So, Quintana and Rolland slipped away, Uran may not have seen it or underestimated their move - and off they were.
That would have explained 30 secs, but 2 minutes???
Something MUST have happened!
Why must something have happened?
It was a mess on the Stelvio summit and once they went down maybe Rolland (who has been attacking alot) and Quintana just decided to take the risks that the other main contenders didn't have the bottle to do. It is pretty straight forward
Why?
2 minutes is soooo much time on a descent and Uran was basically rolling down that descent. Plus it was only 5 other guys than Quintana, who got there with him. I am pretty sure that the other GC contenders would have noticed it.

Each time I've seen Uran in the descent, he didn't look particularly fast. He rode very safe I think. oO
Really interested in the official explanation later on.

Apparently there was a message that the descent of the Stelvio would be neutralised. So everybody, besides Quintana, Rolland and Hesjedal, took it easy on the descent. Then it turned out the race isn't neutralised and now Quintana has gained roughly 2 minutes on Uran. |

I guess Quintana is going to win now.
