The race went quite well, we had to control it by ourselves as we were here with John but that was not a problem, our squad was strong and we managed to get the victory in the end thanks toJohn.

Pre-Race:

Last year thanks to a "weak" starting field, I was able to get the victory. But this year things are different, the main favorite for the final victory is no one but Peter Sagan ( PEP), he has a great team to support him and I think he will be hard to beat when it'll come to the finish.
John seems to have good legs today and he could be our only chance to beat Sagan today, this is why in the finish I will lead him out.

Race Report:

Pepsi Pro Cycling really wanted to control the race and as soon as the start was given, they were all at the front deciding who could and who could not be in the breakaway. This mean that we rode at an average of 45 km/h during the first 30 kilometers.
Only Julien Bérard ( ALM), Patrick Schelling ( IAM), Arnaud Courteille ( FDJ) and Kevin Seeldraeyers ( AJW) were allowed to go at the front.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/20%20Plouay/PCM0004_zpsed80273a.jpg

When i told you that Sagan had a great team around him, I was not kidding. The world Champion himself for doing the job at the front of the pack. Alberto Contador ( PEP) was leading the pack with Moreno Moser ( PEP), Oscar Gatto ( PEP) and Rein Taaramae ( PEP).

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/20%20Plouay/PCM0005_zps7171de4a.jpg

With 40 kilometers some riders started to attack. The firsts one to get clear off the bunch were Pavel Brutt ( KAT), Edvald Boasson Hagen ( SKY) and Tom Boonen ( TEL).They managed to joined the breakaway before being brought pack in the pack by Sagan's Team Mates.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/20%20Plouay/PCM0006_zps325845b2.jpg

Another dangerous acceleration came from Kevin De Weert ( TEL) who attacked 15 kilometers from the finish line. He was soon countered by Tom Boonen ( TEL), Simon Geschke ( GIA), Taylor Phinney ( BMC), Sébastien Turgot ( ALM) and Geraint Thomas ( SKY).

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/20%20Plouay/PCM0008_zpsbaff14bb.jpg

As soon as this small group was back in the pack, Johan started to accelerate with Luca in his wheel. I was following them as their were supposed to brought me toward the last kilometers so I could launched the sprint for John.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/20%20Plouay/PCM0009_zps1dd1c685.jpg

I did what I had to do, John was launched perfectly but so was Sagan who was right behind Daryl Impey ( OGE). Sagan with his explosiveness left no chances to any body and he took for the second time a victory in Plouay. John grabbed the second position and I took the 4th right in front of Simon who ended 5th.

We can't always be successful, can we? We did what we had to do here but there was better than us. Sagan rode extremely well and we can't contest his victory.
On another Topic, I'm currently leading the World Tour Individual Ranking which is quite impressive for a young rider of 22 years old.
My next race races are Paris - Bruxelles and the GP de Fourmies - La Voix du Nord before going to the Tour of Britain.

This day we were all working for a mass sprint finish, John and Marcel had good sensation so the whole team worked for them.

I was the last one to do the job as I was supposed to lead out Marcel who had John in his wheel.

I made the perfect lead out and then it was up to them for the victory. Marcel was the faster and he brought another victory home. John who never left Marcel's wheel took the second position in front of Mark Cavendish ( TEL)

The squad was the same, the plan was the same and we were hoping for the same result. But things did not went who we wanted them to go, I lost John and Marcel few kilometers before the line and as we did not have earphones, I was still going on without knowing that my leaders were not there any more.

When I realized I had lost them, it was too late. I told Ramon, who was supposed to brought every one to the front, that I would do the sprint and he play his role of lead out man perfectly.

In the end it the British rider Ben Swift ( SKY) who won the race. I ended at a satisfying 4th position.

Now I'm going for 8 days in Britain, before going to the World Championships which are held in Qatar.

Pre-Race:

For the first time in its history, the race will be part of the World Tour, this mean that all the best team will be there. It is a good way to prepare for the World Championships as the stage are quite long and mostly flat. The World Championships will end in a sprint and many top sprinters will be here to test themselves.
We are mostly here to take stage wins with Marcel Kittel but if the Yates' brothers want to show something on their land they won't be any problem.

Stage 1

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/22%20Britain/PCM0001_zps195b3d88.jpg

The first stage was a good warm up as their was no difficulties except some wind in few location. We rode steadily with a breakaway at the front. We (Sky, Lampre and us) brought them back few kilometers before the line and we prepare for the sprint.

Sacha Modolo ( ITA) was the fastest there and he also took the leadership of the race. Marcel who did a good sprint took the second position. The third to arrive was Nacer Bouhanni (FDJ).

I ended at a good 7th position.

Stage 2

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/22%20Britain/PCM0002_zps8d4173d2.jpg

The second stage was a bit harder in its middle but nothing to worry about as the race was still long. and no team wanted to scarifies rider so early.
This time we let Lampre do the job (of course we helped them in the finish but the goal was to tired them as much as possible).
We were the only team to do a sprint train and the power of Johan put many sprinters out off the competition.

I was the last one to go before Marcel and once again after I launched him, no one was able to take him back except perhaps Swift if there were 20 meters more.

The first two stages went well for the team, and Marcel is now the new leader of the race. We will have to control the race now but we have a strong squad so this should not be a big problem.

Stage 3

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/22%20Britain/PCM0003_zps5e726b7a.jpg

Another flat stage to our program. Since we had the Leader Jersey, it was our job to protect it. Koen De Kort did a great part of the job during the stage and when we had few kilometers left, some of the other sprinters team came to help us.

We had no troubles of bringing back the escapes and we were getting ready for the sprint.

Once again I was the last man to do the job and it paid off as Marcel won for the second time here in England.

And without any surprise here, the fourth stage was also a flat stage. The main difference with the three last ones was the wind. It was blowing quite hard and it was playing in our favor.
Once again Koen De Kort was the one who controlled the breakaway with this time Tom Stamsnijder to ride a bit faster so we could reduce the numbers of riders in the main group.

As we did the whole stage at the front of the pack we did not have to worry about being caught in a break or so and we managed, without many problems, to get a third stage victory.

The next stages are meant to be a little harder but we will fight to keep the Leader Jersey in the team.

Stage 5

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/22%20Britain/PCM0005_zpse98d621c.jpg

The stage was quite short (154km) comparing to the previous ones. As we still had the race leader, the weight of the race was on our shoulders. Koen De Kort, again was the guy who worked the most today and as the breakaway resisted well, Simon Yates decided to take the thing in his hands. He accelerated on a steep climb and with Sacha Modolo ( LAM) we were the only one who managed to follow him. There was still 25 kilometers, the breakaway was still 1'57 ahead of us.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/22%20Britain/PCM0013_zpsbf3ffcbb.jpg

As soon as we had brought back the breakaway, Simon and I re-accelerated. This time, Sacha Modolo ( LAM) did not managed to get us back.

We were working fine together and the pack was struggling to get seconds on us. Simon was starting to crack but I wanted to go as far as possible with him.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/22%20Britain/PCM0014_zpseed23199.jpg

When I realized that the stage was for us, I told Simon to take it. We know each other since we are 15 and he deserved that win, He worked hard for the team the whole season and it was time for him to be rewarded. And one more win for me was not necessary as it was a friend who was taking it.

Stage 6

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/22%20Britain/PCM0007_zpsef1bd8fc.jpg

The 6th stage was the queen stage of the race, after our show in the fifth stage, the whole pack was waiting for us to do something.
Tom Stamsnijder did the work today, on the flat part before being replaced by Johan Le Bon. The breakaway was not a big problem for us as they were not as strong as they could have been.

Like in stage 5, Simon accelerated on a steep climb, no one followed him and neither did I as I wanted to control and abort any attempts from our opponents.
Once Simon was at the front, only Jan Bakelants ( TEL) and Jan Barta ( NET) managed to follow his pace but not for a long time.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/22%20Britain/PCM0016_zps87be30ba.jpg

In our group behind Simon, no one really wanted to ride and this was not me who shall do it as I had my team mate at the front.

Thanks to that, Simon was able to win his second stage here and in the meantime taking the leadership of the race.

The race is going on perfectly for us, 5 stage win out of 6. My friend Simon Yates is currently leading the race and I'm sitting third in the GC. Marcel Kittel is still the possessor of the Points Jersey so this mean that 3 of us will wear a distinctive jersey in the next stage.

This stage was really painful for all of us and as the riders in the breakaway were not dangerous we decided not too chase too hard. As a matter of fact, they did managed to fight for the victory and in the group, Tyler Williams ( GRS) was the fastest.

It was also a good way to prepare for the World Championships even if these are not part of my objectives. The race is too flat for me and sprinters should not have troubles getting crown World Champion.

With the absence of Mark Cavendish ( TEL), André Greipel ( LTB), John Degenkolb ( GIA) and Marcel Kittel ( GIA), the race was ours to control as Nacer Bouhanni ( FDJ) and Arnaud Démare ( FDJ) were the main favorites.

We let a group of five riders composed of Pieter Serry ( TEL), Maxim Iglinskiy ( AST), Vegard Breen ( LTB), Michael Valgren Andersen ( TCS) and Juan Pablo Valencia Gonzalez ( LAM) going at the front as the race was very long.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/23%20World/PCM0002_zpsd25b369d.jpg

Only two teams were riding behind the breakaway and it was Slovenia and France. Geoffrey Soupe ( FDJ) did most of the work in this race allowing to keep the escapes at a reasonable distance.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/23%20World/PCM0003_zps13d8857b.jpg

With 36 kilometers left, it was Johan Le Bon's turn ( GIA), his goal was too bring the breakaway back to the pack or if it was not possible, bring them closer so another one could finish he work.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/23%20World/PCM0004_zps7c562277.jpg

The next one to chase was Matthieu Ladagnous ( FDJ). He is the one who brought back the attackers of the day and he is also the one who block any attempts of late attack. We had the squad to finish in a mass sprint so we wanted to go to a sprint.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/23%20World/PCM0005_zps915885dc.jpg

Of course other teams did not saw the race with the same eyes as us and with 8 kilometers left, Luis León Sánchez Gil ( SAN) was getting off the pack. The team reacted well and quickly so he was no threat to our plans. Seeing we had the race under control, no other teams tried to attack.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/23%20World/PCM0006_zps8fb772f0.jpg

The finish was now getting closer and it was time for us to make our sprint train. It was led by Yoann Offredo ( FDJ), I was in second position in front of Adrien Petit ( COF), who was leading out Nacer Bouhanni ( FDJ) and Arnaud Démare ( FDJ).

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/23%20World/PCM0007_zpsc40bda86.jpg

And with such a strong squad the victory could only be ours. Nacer ended the work we all do today to give France another World Title after the one of Jérôme Coppel in the Time Trial. Arnaud Démare is a successful second and Luca Mezgec ( GIA) took the third position.

Finally, since few years now, France is back on top of cycling, after the Tour de France victory by Thibaut Pinot, Jérôme Coppel who won the Vuelta a España and the World ITT Championships and now Nacer Bouhanni who will wear the rainbow jersey for a year. And I did not mention my victory in the Ronde van Vlaanderen.

With one World Tour race left, I'm currently the leader of the UCI World Tour Individual Ranking. I will do all I can to keep that leadership in the last World Tour of the season which is Il Lombardia.

Totally Brilliant result for the team in Britain Grin

And two Bronze medals for the team at the Worlds too Grin

@sutty68: The Tour of Britain was an amazing race and you can be sure that I'll go return there in the future.

In the World Championships, Team Giant - Allianz was the most represented team with 14 riders so I'm happy to see my team mates in top of the classification Wink But I'm much more happy about the French Double Grin

The team was riding for Kelderman and Simon Yates as they were the two riders in good shape lately. I was still an option as my recent result were not bad either but I was slightly tired of all my previous efforts.

As predicted, Simon Yates accelerated in the final climb. He hurt many riders and the selection was made perfectly.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/24%20Italy/PCM0002_zpsa0e2f1ca.jpg

Only one rider managed to hold on to his acceleration and it was Carlos Betancur ( ALM). The Colombian seemed easy and he took the victory away from Simon by putting a last acceleration in the final kilometer.

I took the 7th position in front of Kelderman.

The race was meant to end in a sprint and Pepsi Pro Cycling did most of the work for the leader and favorite Peter Sagan ( PEP).
The sprint was inevitably won by Sagan and thanks to my good finishing skills I managed to take the 5th position right behind Simon Geschke.

I have only one race left, and it's Il Lombardia. Last year I won it but this time I'm not sure I could do that again.
After the race I will make a break from cycling before taking part in some cyclo cross with the World Championships as a main target.

Il Lombardia

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/25%20Lombardia/PCM0001_zpsd91e2438.jpg

The Squad:

Warren BARGUIL
Simon GESCHKE
Wilco KELDERMAN
Anthony LOUVEILLE
Fredrik LUDVIGSSON
Daan OLIVER
Adam YATES
Simon YATES

Pre-Race:

This is the last race of my season, I'm not here to win this time as the race look really hard with climbs I will not handle.

I will work for Warren and Wilco as long as I can but after a whole season at full gas, this will be a hard job to do.

Race Report:

A group of six riders went off quite early, they were no threat at all as there was still many kilometers to go.
The group was formed of great riders as the six men were Alexandr Kolobnev ( KAT), Jérémy Roy ( FDJ), Philippe Gilbert ( BMC), Fabio Felline ( TFR), Elroy Elpers ( LTB) and Marco Minnaard ( AJW).

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/25%20Lombardia/PCM0002_zpsa120b049.jpg

Ryder Hesjedal ( GRS) was the first favorite to attack, there was still 47 kilometers to go and behind, the pack was not worrying at all, AG2R and Pepsi kept the same pace as the climb was quite difficult.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/25%20Lombardia/PCM0003_zpsb1b387fd.jpg

Few kilometers after Hesjedal's attack ( GRS), it was time for Thomas De Gendt ( TEL) to take his chance. He quickly caught Hesjedal and he did not even wait after him, he was gone solo, the breakaway was already dead.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/25%20Lombardia/PCM0004_zps810db9bb.jpg

After that climb, we were stroke with bad luck. we were in a group behind the main one and we had to do the downhill at full gas. I took my responsibilities so Wilco and Warren could get back in the main group.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/25%20Lombardia/PCM0005_zps9c1f172d.jpg

At the front, the fight was hard and the group was not slowing down, one f the main contestant, Chris Froome ( SKY) attacked with 25 kilometers to go. We were still struggling behind but we were getting closer.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/25%20Lombardia/PCM0006_zps88967e7e.jpg

On the last climb of the day, a group of five riders was off the group, Carlos Alberto Betancur Gomez ( ALM), Alberto Contador Velasco ( TCS), Jérôme Coppel ( COF), Nairo Alexander Quintana Rojas ( MOV) and Bauke Mollema ( NED) were off to fight for victory.

As you will see in the picture below, Wilco and Warren were back at the front thanks my strong work. I was dead now and my job was done. It was up to them.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/25%20Lombardia/PCM0007_zpsd8e3d2c7.jpg

The Colombian Carlos Alberto Betancur Gomez (ALM) took one of his greatest victory.

Warren was not able to make a top 10 but he still took the 13th position.

This is it for my final race. A top 20 is not bad at all considering the race it has been. We could perhaps regret missing the right group after the hard climb but that's the race.

About my future, I still don't know in which team I'll ride next year. I'm waiting for a contract from Giant but I have some request non negotiable. As I said, it's up to them to keep me or to lose me. I've got plenty of team waiting after me and I would not have trouble finding a new team.

I will make a small break of 2 weeks in Mauritius with my friends and then I will come back to Cyclo-Cross with the World Championships as a target.

Simon Yates is certainly a rider with a Big Future Grin

@sutty68: And his brother too even if we did not see much from here as he mainly had a team mate job this season.

2016 is over, my season was the best one I had since I started as I won at the age of 22 the Ronde van Vlaanderen. As I stayed consistent during the whole season, I was elected best rider of the year in front of two other french riders which are Thibaut Pinot ( FDJ) and Nacer Bouhanni ( FDJ).

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2016/26%20Final/2016-StarofTheYear_zps4d17a8dc.png

I had an amazing year too, I won for the first time the French Championships and I confirmed my results of last year. I did well in the monuments as I never did worst than a 20th position. This was also for me the time to discover Liège - Bastogne - Liège.

After 4 season as a pro, I'm now counting 32 victories to my records. My goal for next season is to reach 40.

To give you an idea of what I achieve, I post my results from the moment I started as a pro to now.

And finally after being elected "Best Rider of the Year", I was told I was the leader of the UCI World Tour Individual Ranking \o/. That is a lot of things in only one year but I guess after being that consistent during the whole season, the price was kind of logical. The gap between me and the second rider is not a cliff either and the fight was hard until the last race of the WT calendar.

The post is almost finish but I had to make a quick preview to 2017. Pepsi Pro Cycling has been rename Fly Emirates, indeed the middle east investor decided to go for a cycling team. The team headquarters will be based in Italy and they will focus their squad on Italian. As a results of this policy, Rein Taaramae signed for Astana while Vicenzo Nibali signed for two years with the Emirates.

Other News, after missing their entire season, Trek Factory Racing has been relegated to Pro Continental Division. It's Cofidis that will replace them in the World Tour. Fabian Cancellara and the Schleck Brothers all signed a one year contract with IAM Cycling.

The Post is now over, I will come back to you after the New Year to start a new season as I was finally renew by Giant - Allianz. they accepted all my request but that's another topic I'll explain you next year.

See You, Anthony Louveille.

Spoiler
I'm coming back to the story as the writer, I've been suffering a lack of motivation this past few days and even if I said that Anthony would stay with Giant - Allianz, I feel like I should change team to keep me motivated and to keep enjoying writing this.
Don't worry, I'm not planning to end the story yet and It could wait until at list the first complete DB on PCM14.

Hi everyone, this is Anthony. It's been a while since I last came to this blog but I had much troubles in the past few weeks. It appears that my contract with Giant - Allianz was not maid following the rules of the UCI and it has to be canceled. We are now in 2017 it January 7th and I'm without team. I gave up my hopes on the Cyclo Cross World Championships for this year as I was and I'm still not sure if I will have a team for 2017.
Many teams have completed their squad and it is very hard to impose myself at that time of the season.

I'm currently back against the wall without any opportunities yet. I'd really like to race in World Tour but I'm not closed for smaller team. And, well, for me there are no small and big teams anymore as long as I can race it will be ok.

Anthony Louveille.
