Four riders in the first nine is a Great result for the team in Italy Grin

Hope the motivation stays with you for a long while Smile

@ Sutty - Indeed it is! The results are really coming this year!

@ Shonak - Thanks a lot!

-----

Thanks to Jesleyh the save has been fixed. Was just a problem with a cobbled TT I think! I've finished the 4 stage race in Belgium (name is too long to remember) and will have the report up in probably 5 or so hours as Im going out for now!

Nice to know that Jesleyh fixed the problem for you Wink

Stage 1

The first stage was your typical flat day in Belgium, minus the cobbles. Windy but no echelons were formed and we come down to an opening day sprint. The team has formed a nice train for Svorada but it was his leadout men who took the day!

i.imgur.com/GzrU5Bf.jpg

Svorada lost the wheel of Haller and so instead we had a Haller/Hunal 1/2 finish with Svorada claiming 4th place for Sparta to stamp our authority on the stage!

Stage 3

We had another flat stage here, and more problems for the Sparta sprint train! This time its completely messed up and Svorada cant even get a decent result, certainly disappointing for the team! Hunal claims a modest 9th place, but the team will need to sort out their sprints for the future races!

Stage 4

Finally we have some hills! Hruska is here, but very out of form!

i.imgur.com/JQ6c75j.jpg

Dolezel gets into the breakaway and eventually goes solo at the front of the race, with 8 KOM sprints to claim points on, by claiming points on all of them today he has taken the KOM jersey for the team! He would get caught with 25km to go, but his job for the day was done!

i.imgur.com/0RAslQV.jpg

With 10km to go, Hruska makes a brave attack with 2 laps of the hilly circuit to go, and a downhill to the finish line! He quickly gets a gap of 30 seconds and is by far the strongest rider in the race, shown by his display! After only being 18 seconds behind the GC leader of Jasper Bovenhuis, anything more than that would mean he would take the overall win!

i.imgur.com/pZvUZo9.jpg

And sure enough he extends his gap to almost 2 minutes, so he can really start to celebrate his massive victory for the team in the final km and soak it all in! But what will this mean for him, as he looks much too strong for the Continental Tour...

Thanks! He has been amazing so far. More on that in a second....

And okay. I am usually against using training camps, but if my followers are telling me to do so, who am I to say no! I might send my whole team to a couple mountain training camps while Im at it Pfft

Hruska targets ProTour?

The debut season for Hruska has been a wonderful one! Sparta Praha saw talent in him that no other team saw and you could say he went under the radar, atleast initially! He wanted to sign for a smaller team in his first year! Get to know the pace of the ProPeloton but also stay out of the spotlight, or atleast that is what he had hoped, but it is not going to plan for the Slovakian.

He has started the season with a win at Trofeo Porec in his first race day of the year! In his first stage race of the year a 4 day race called the Istarsko Proljece, he took 2nd place on stage 2 and then won the final stage of the tour to also take the GC! In just 5 race days at the CT level he had 3 podiums, 2 on the top step and a GC victory! In just 4 more race days he took yet another victory and yet another GC victory! In just 9 race days he has taken 4 wins, two stage wins and two GC wins, as well as a 2nd place on an individual stage.

These results have not gone without notice from top teams, like Argos, IAM as well as Pro Tour teams, OmegaPharma Quickstep and Trek Factory Racing! This means that several teams will be looking to bring the rider to their team next season, however there is still the chance that he remains with Sparta Praha, who have done a great job of developing the rider. Hruska who is a strong climber and arguably better climber, also has a strong sprint and is also competent on cobbles. He could truly become a top rider in the world, with his ability on all terrains.

While it is hard to say for sure how well he will do for the rest of the season, his results could be enough to bring the Czech team up to the ProContinental level already, somewhere the team have never been!

Hruska is Sparta Praha's best ranked rider and he is as high up as 11th place, which is crazy high for us! Velits leads it all with 374 points!

Team

i.imgur.com/nmVYK2V.jpg

Sparta Praha sit in 11th place, just as we do with our highest place rider and again it is a great accomplishment for the team! If the season were to end now, we would be up in a ProContinental spot, which would certainly be great for the teams budget going into next season. Its unknown if the teams current sponsor would be able to provide the team with enough money if they were to move up to ProTour, but that is a long ways away.

Again, Hruska is our (and only) highest placed rider in the Top 10 for this years cycling season. Hruska even sits ahead of maybe the worlds best sprinter at the moment, Marcel Kittel (funnily enough, Hruska has Kittel's commentary name in game for some reason) and sitting in the Top 10 is a huge accomplishment for Hruska!

Nice wins by Haller and Hruska in Le Tryptyque. Very interesting segment about Hruska then. I hope he stays with AC Sparta but I suppose the team will have to move up to PCT to keep him interestesd. Also, some good races for him to increase his impressive win account. Shock

Thanks! They've been doing amazingly well so far!

Yeah, I've always been a little unsure how Hruska would do at this level and he is clearly way too good. As someone that likes realism, I decided making a bit of a news segment would signal my views without me just saying them.

For now, he's got to do well at the 2/1.1 races because those give a lot more CQ points and those are whats needed for PCT Pfft

We start off this 5 day stage race with a nice flat profile to get us going! We've brought Hunal and Nesveda as our two leaders, but Krotky and maybe Poljanski could do something for us as well, although Poljanski is not in great shape at the moment, so this is mostly just to build form, but again you never know what might happen here.

i.imgur.com/3ti2gRz.jpg

The first stage ended in a sprint finish where, Nesveda was definitely in the right positions, however he just wasn't fast enough today and Stéphane Poulhies takes the victory. In reality, Nesveda did a lot better than he was expected to today, so we should be really happy with a 2nd place. Poulhies looked unbeatable.

GP of Sochi: Stage 2 - 5 (2.2)

Stage 2
April 4th, 2014

Today was a TT and no Sparta riders really had that great of a day. Bauer did well but finished 1 second off the win. Sparta's highest rider was Dolezel who finished 1'28 down on the stage winner, and the rest of the team all finished within 30 seconds down on him, so we had a lot of work to do, if we were to do well in the GC.

Stage 3 was a hilly one, and Poljanski made a late attack from the peloton. He had gained a lot of time up on the peloton, but there was still a breakaway up ahead who he had to catch. With the road flattening out in the final 5km, the gaps had gotten smaller. Poljanski couldn't reach 1st place, but he got a nice gap to the rest of the peloton.

April 6th, 2014

With 10km to go in the stage, and several hills climbed and 2 to go, a small group forms from the peloton. Many of the Top 10 in the GC are caught behind but all of the important riders for Sparta are in the group, who have over a minute on the peloton. Hunal and Poljanski would be moving up the GC after today, but that wasn't enough for Hunal, who set off in search of the breakaway who still had a 2 minute lead.

i.imgur.com/psxvACN.jpg

The breakaway takes the stage, but Hunal finishes only 36 seconds behind and moves way up the GC ladder! Arkimedes Arguelyes Rodriges just nicks Tomáš Zechmeister the fellow Czech to the line.

The final stage was another hilly day! Today, the true strongest riders showed themselves and Duenas was the eventual winner in the lead group, ahead of Bauer and Marek Rutkiewicz. Hunal finished in the 2nd stage after a tough day, but it was enough to maintain his GC spot. Amazingly, Dolezel finished in the front group after he made an early attack and held on, in the final descent. We finish the tour in a satisfying spot.

Stage 1

Stage one was classified as flat, and it was no surprise to see it end in a bunch sprint! Some of the French teams brought some pretty high profile sprinters, including Feillu who could probably be considered the strongest. He also to no surprise came out on top of the stage. Svorada and Haller able to sneak into the Top 10, but it was a tough stage with a lot of quality riders.

Stage 4
April 7th, 2014

The tour ends with another flat stage, meaning not much change expected in the GC. Unfortunately, no gaps could be made, atleast for the important riders, as a breakaway was allowed to take the win and all crucial few bonus seconds on offer.

Thanks! The win was nice, but I could have used a little higher GC finishes. Pfft

Last year or best placed rider was Krotky, who couldn't even crack the Top 5. This year we have brought Hruska, Dolezel, Hunal and Poljanski so we have a very deep squad for this race. Only Hruska is in the same sentence as the other favourites like Rutkiewicz, Hudecek, Sabido and Choi. The race goes over a very hilly circuit, however none of the individual climbs are all too difficult. It could mean that more riders are there for the end of the race, to challenge for the win!

40km left in the stage and Dolezel attacks from the peloton. He bridges up to the breakaway with about 25km to go, the gap at 2mins. He pushes on and eventually creates a gap to the breakaway who still has about 1'45 gap to the peloton with 15km left. His gap to the break is about 25 seconds.

With 10km left, a lot of the favourites attack from the peloton and Hruska must follow them, but they all seem out of reach of Dolezel at the front of the race. Its looking good for him, but the chasers are increasing the pace. Its going to be close for sure!

Dolezel holds them off! What a great ride by him. Probably his best race of his early career! He is showing the potential that some of the best managers in the world said he had!

Even better is that Hruska takes 2nd place, meaning we will have both on the podium and an even better CQ points haul!

Really nice to see you continue this Smile
