The first real break to manage to get a decent gap happened about eight kilometres ago and contained these five riders, Dodi/Team Idea, Garofalo/Team Nippo, Malori/Lampre, Sergent/Radioshack Nissan and our very own Laengen/Team Type 1
The five are working well together as the road surface gets dodgy
Liquigas have one of there men on the front of the bunch to try and keep the pace high and stop the gap from increasing
The breakaway continues to put in the effort despite race radio reporting that both Liquigas and Omega Pharma are setting a relentless pace at the front of the bunch
31s is all that remains of the lead as attacks start to come thick and fast from within the peleton
Malori/Lampre arrives alone at the ten kilometre to go banner
Malori's lead is just 24s
It looks like it could all be over for the Italian, what a brave effort
And its Enrico Gasparotto of Astana who claims a famous victory

Farnese Vini - Selle Italia
Very happy with the performance from Vegard today, he got into the break as we planned and could have challenged for the win if he had saved his energy levels a bit better than he did, but saying that a top ten finish in a race like this is surely a good result |
