Pinocchio can't lie because everybody would know that he's lying because of his nose. So maybe they are trying to say that there's no point in lying (in cycling - doping) because sooner or later you'll get caught.
Or one of the organizers really enjoyed Pinocchio's story as a child.

I'm guessing it's because the WC's are in Florence, which is in Tuscany, which served as the primary setting for the Pinocchio tales.
Maybe the Vitruvian Man would have been a better option.

Yes, because he's a cyclist, no because he's French, not Italian.

Or maybe they didn't think about it much and just used it because the author is from there and that's the best regional work they could think of? |

Or, as pointed out at inrng:
https://inrng.com/...shorts-10/
But the choice of mascot is more innocent as Pinocchio is a Tuscan character. Fiorentine Carlo Lorenzini wrote the stories and there are monuments to him and his puppet in the region and all without cynicism or irony. Indeed the story is not really about lies, it’s a more innocent tale and Lorenzini, who wrote under the name of Collodi, would often express a political vision of the future for Italy via these stories. So whilst we’re all laughing, the mascot is more a figure of hope than pity.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again - the Sky policy is a joke.
If they suddenly can't be on the team because of their past, what does that make the results they've achieved over the last few years? Nul and void only thing I can conclude. |

Any news how they want to fill up all the holes now?
I guess quite a few former riders could become their new sportifs. |

Former riders? Really? Who hasn't been tainted by the doping brush?

They might bring in Johan Bruyneel - he say's he has nothing to do with doping and hasn't officially been sanctioned by anyone yet. |

Saxo in big danger of not qualifying to WT. It's between then and FDJ for the last spot in WT.
Fighting for the last 3 spots are :
Teams ranked 16th-20th (in ranking order)
16. Team Argos-Shimano
17. Lotto-Belisol
18. FDJ-BigMat
19. Team Europcar
20. Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank

No matter which one of them that gets dropped, it'll be ridiculous. Both squads are definitely WT strength.
Euskaltel are safe now, thanks to the new signings. They're the ones that should go away if you ask me. Much weaker team.
But of course, we have the crappy, crappy, crappy system...

We already knew it but De Jongh has admitted the use of forbidden products. Therefore he leaves Sky.

Gunther Cuylits (37, Ludo Peeters Cycling) died, right after the Tour of Burkina Faso. He died in the airport, probably a blood vessel.

EDIT: He was just 8th in GC of Tour de Burkina Faso, and he won a stage.
