Sorry for the slow updates at the moment.
X-Mas time. Can`t be at home every day plus several other things to do than playing PCM when being home. Wink

Volta Ciclista a Catalunya - Stage 2
Salt - Banyoles
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_2_1.jpg
The 2nd stage looks much better for a real sprint finish than yesterdays hilly stage. Haussler is starting this stage as top favourite with Sagan, Roelandts, Bazayev, Steegmans or Galimzyanov challenging the Australian.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_2_2.jpg
7 riders in todays group.
Arvesen (Sky), Curvers (Skil), Chuzhda (Caja Rural), Reynès (Omega), Longo Borghini (Liquigas), Trussov (Katusha) and Nizzolo (Leopard).

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_2_3.jpg
No rush in the peloton, where Murphy is doing the full work for Haussler, while Sagan`s HTC team can relax a bit.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_2_4.jpg
When the gap starts to extend also Duggan and Pate start working.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_2_5.jpg
With 50km to go Rabobank for Brown and Quickstep for Steegmans start a really high pace with Garmin having done enough for the moment.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_2_6.jpg
Under the 20km banner Peter Velits attacks. He lost 3min yesterday but shouldn`t be allowed to gain that time back as he is always a danger in these races.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_2_7.jpg
With 10km to go Velits and also the breakaway are caught. The sprinter teams are coming to the front forming their trains.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_2_8.jpg
But they are disturbed by some late attackers with 5km to go.
Possoni, Velits, Pires, Popovych and Loosli.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_2_9.jpg
Except of Velits they also have a decent gap after the last small hill. Dangerous situation for the sprinter teams now.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_2_10.jpg
Kessiakoff is pulling hard to bring the group back while a long sprinter train is forming on the right side.
Steegmans with one helper left. Brown, Roelandts, Sagan and Haussler behind him.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_2_11.jpg
Too late. The late attackers had success. Pires wins the stage ahead of Possoni and Popovych. Sagan being the fastest in the peloton sprinting on the 4th ahead of Loosli and Haussler, who was the only one challenging the man in yellow today.
Maybe on another day.

Sagan is very strong right now. Haussler did well. Pity about the breakaway, though. Or maybe not. Cool Pfft

sutty68
Peterson wearing the K.O.K jersey, niceSmile

And Martin only 10s off the overall leadSmile

roturn
@FreitasPCM: Sagan is really strong. Maybe a bit too early for the Ardennes Classics. Will see next month. Wink
@Sutty68: Peterson will try to win the KoM in the end. He is just about 1min back at the moment so it`s hard to attack on every stage but maybe in the last 3 stages or so again.

Volta Ciclista a Catalunya - Stage 3
La Vall d'En Bas - La Seu d'Urgell
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_1.jpg
Surely the hardest mountain stage in this years Catalunya. Still it`s not that hard as most slopes are long but not very steep. But as the final 5km are the hardest it might be selective.
Sagan is more a puncheur type but still got a nice push in the mountains, so it will be interesting to see him today.
Martin aims a good result here although he is not yet in totally top form.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_2.jpg
Like yesterday a 7 rider group attacked. None of them is a big danger in the overall but some are really good climbers. Best probably:
Valls (Geox), Cardoso (Shack), Milán (Caja Rural), Rohregger (Leopard), Porsev (Katusha), Christensen (Saxobank) and De Clercq (Omega).

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_3.jpg
3 more riders are 1'30 behind them and also 1'30 ahead of the peloton.
Docker (Skil), Cusin (Cofidis) and Niermann (Rabobank).

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_4.jpg
Sky and Euskaltel are doing the pace behind. While Anton is surely a race favourite Sky is a bit surprising as they don`t have a big man here.

On the 2nd and longest climb the two groups fusion and 10 riders are leading the race now with Rohregger collecting most points so far. They have a gap of 8min on top of the mountain.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_7.jpg
Time for the bigger favourites to send their riders to the front. Contador`s Astana and Evans` Movistar team are forcing the pace.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_9.jpg
Starting with the long final climb it`s still these two teams. But behind several Garmin riders are still doing well including Martin.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_10.jpg
Of course this had to happen. Co-Leader Stetina crashes somehow although he was riding in the very first row. This will cost him all ambitions as he needs some time to get on his bike again and will lose some time today.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_11.jpg
Meanwhile the 3 strongest climbers got rid of the rest. Valls, Niermann and Rohregger.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_12.jpg
Also in the peloton the first attack. Surprisingly it`s Peter Sagan. He really accelerates powerful and immediately creates a gap.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_13.jpg
The peloton is still pretty big on the easier slopes but with the steeper section slowly coming many riders have problems now. Martin still in the first rows together with Swede Kessiakoff.
Also the 3 breakaway riders are caught and the race favourites will have to make the next move.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_14.jpg
Sagan still has a small gap but now on the steeper part it`s time for the pure climbers. Anton attacking from behind chasing Sagan.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_15.jpg
Several riders are following the Basque, who is already behind Sagan.
Evans, Contador, Cobo, Martin and surprisingly another puncheur in Vaugrenard.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_16.jpg
Sagan still has a small gap to the rest with Diddi cheering at him not to give up.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_17.jpg
An incredibly strong Evans is leading ahead of Anton and Sagan with 1km to go. Behind it`s already Dan Martin, who gapped the big favourites such as Contadro or Schleck.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_18.jpg
Cadel Evans really has a great spring so far winning another stage and taking the overall lead ahead of Anton. But both of them must fear Sagan`s possible bonus seconds as he finishes as 3rd just 9s later.
Great race by the young Slovenian.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/Cat_3_19.jpg
In the uphill sprint Martin was overtaken by Cobo and finishes 24s later on a strong 5th still ahead of Cataldo (+35) and the other riders around Contador and Schleck (+39).

Also Kessiakoff as 15th overall and Stetina after a great fight today is still inside the top20 as 19th. Good team performance today.

What, a Garmin crashed? Yet again Sad

Still, a very good result for Martin here! And I love the screen of Sagan and Diddi!

Nice riding by MartinSmile

Pellizotti2
Good result with Martin. Pretty much what you could expect without top form.

And nice to see the Porsev twins in the breakaway. Hey wait... Pfft

Yea, preety good job with Martin. And nice comeback with Stetina too. Sagan is looking in top shape though, will be hard to beat him in the sprints, but Haussler is doing everyday better.

Martin did great, leaving Contador and Schleck behind...well done.
GC looks good for him,now he just needs to hold on..

Nice ride by Dan Martin, unlucky with Stetina, but he fought back strongly, good luck for the next stages.
And you called Sagan a Slovenian under the penultimate picture, but that is pretty usual mistake Pfft
I'll be back

@tsmoha: Surprising, wasn`t it? Wink i would have loved to have taken the picture from another perspective but at least I have seen him this time.
@Pellizotti2: Thanks for pointing out the mistake. obviously Christensen did not like to be quoted. Wink
@Avin: Another mistake. Wink I wasn`t that sure when writing the report. And I picked of course the wrong choice. Will try to remember in other reports...
@all: Thanks. Martin had a solid ride although he is still in the 80`s with his fitness and had an average day form (+1 if I remember right)
Evans form is incredible as shown in Tirreno and here again. He is just 77mo. Sagan even more incredible as he is more the puncheur kind of rider.
Anton and Cobo also in a good form plus the National bonus.
The big names Contador and Schleck aren`t in such a good form obviously. Otherwise they would have beaten the rest easily as they might show in the GT`s later for sure.

As I am not at home over the Christmas days until the 27th or 28th, there won`t be any reports coming as I can`t play on my Netbook plus not having the time for it obviously.

So a Merry Christmas everyone. Enjoy the days with hopefully more snowy weather than in rainy Germany. (Or with 35°C and lots of Sun in Australia and some other countries.)

After my X-Mas and New Year`s Eve "downtime" here a new report.

I must admit that I lack a bit in motivation at the moment. This is caused by several factors. Less time due to University exams, a new situation in my private life and the factor that although not having the best in especially hills and GT`s, my Garmin riders are normally top5 favourites in every single race.

I planned for a long time already to play with a small CT team, where I really have to fight for the points. That`s also why I created lots of NZ races as I always wanted to play with a Kiwi team having a pretty realistic calendar.
Especially now with the PPDB Giant being released I am considering to start such a career or maybe even story.

So right now I will have to reduce my PCM activity a bit due to University but can`t really say how much time I will put in this Garmin story afterwards, which already lasts much longer than I ever had expected. Wink

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_2.jpg

Due to Haussler`s participation in Catalunya I just have 6 riders for this race. Maaskant will clearly be the leader with Boom, Vansummeren and Van Der Velde supporting him. Phinney and Meyer are mainly expected to work in the first half.

Kortrijk - Waregem
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_1.jpg
While the first half is pretty flat the second includes some tough hills and in especially some cobbled sections that will be selective. Unfortunately it`S also rainy today, which makes it a dangerous race so close to the big PT Classics, where everyone wants to be in top form and without injury.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_3.jpg
A large group of weak cobbled riders are going early into the offense.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_4.jpg
Cameron Meyer is a pure time trialist and surely no cobbler. So he is happy to have some flat roads before the real action starts. He is doing the main work now knowing that Maaskant is the big favourite today.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_5.jpg
After some high pace behind just 4 riders were really allowed to create a gap.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_6.jpg
The teams in black are doing the pace behind now. Garmin got some support by Verandas and Sky. Two teams with strong leaders for this race.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_7.jpg
With more than 100km to go the first real danger. Preben Van Hecke (Topsport) attacks.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_8.jpg
He is followed by another good cobbler in Hulsmans (Donckers Koffie).

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_9.jpg
And also Landbouwkrediet`s Amorison and Cofidis` Keukeleire are starting their early moves. 4 decent cobblers. Surely not in the interest of the 3 working teams behind.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_10.jpg
With Phinney powering over the first cobbles the peloton is stretched and splitted now. Great effort by the young American.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_11.jpg
For a short time the group is reduced to 13 riders still including all 6 Garmin guys before some more are joining again.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_12.jpg
Meanwhile Preben Van Hecke is leading the race solo after joining the former break.
No chance for the other 3 attackers to follow him.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_13.jpg
Time to do something. Lars Boom accelerates on one of the cobbled sections and creates a gap. Now the other teams are forced as he is one of the race favourites.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_14.jpg
Just 14 riders in the group behind him. After Meyer also Phinney lost contact but Vansummeren and Van Der Velde are both in this group supporting Maaskant.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_15.jpg
While Boom is reaching the former breakaway including Amorison, Keukeleire and Hulsmann, Rosseler (Shack) is attacking next.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_16.jpg
Under the 5km banner Boom got caught. Just Van Hecke is still ahead and looking promising for the Belgium.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_17.jpg
Scheirlinckx went first and created a gap as no one was willing to follow that early. So it`s Maaskant coming from behind first.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_18.jpg
But too late. Preben Van Hecke wins after an incredible 100km solo ride. Great job by the Belgium and his Topsport squad.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Dwaars_19.jpg
The early moves proved to be successful. Scheirlinckx and Maaskant complete the podium ahead of the fast sprinting Traksel and Flecha.

Boom, Vansummeren and Van Der Velde all finished in this group outside the top10. Good team performance although we hoped to win today.
