Maxi López set to join FC Moskva
FC Barcelona have reached an agreement, in principle, with FK Moskva for the transfer of Maxi López to the Russian club, who will pay a total of €2 million for the player.
The Argentinian striker is set to begin a new chapter of his career in the Russian League as he joins Leonid Slutski's side after the Blaugrana and FK Moskva finalised a deal for Maxi, who had a contract at Camp Nou until 2009.
FK Moskva are in the middle of their season and lie third in the table, with 33 points from 20 matches, just behind leaders Spartak (39 points) and Zenit (34 points). Maxi López will team up with compatriot, Maxi Moralez. The 20-year-old has just signed a five-year deal at the club after signing from Racing de Avellanada. He was also voted as the second best player at the recent Under-20 World Championships after scoring four goals.
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!

England squad to play Germany:
Keepers
Robinson (Tottenham), James (Portsmouth), Carson (Liverpool, on loan at Aston Villa)
Defenders
Richards (Manchester City), Brown (Manchester United), Ferdinand (Manchester United), Terry (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Campbell (Portsmouth), Taylor (Newcastle), Neville (Everton), Shorey (Reading)
Midfielders
Beckham (LA Galaxy), Gerrard (Liverpool), Lampard (Chelsea), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Wright-Phillips (Chelsea), Carrick (Manchester United), Barry (Aston Villa), Downing (Middlesbrough), Dyer (West Ham), Hargreaves (Manchester United)
Strikers
Smith (Newcastle), Owen (Newcastle), Crouch (Liverpool), Bent (Tottenham), Johnson (Everton), Defoe (Tottenham).
The guys i have bolded are my 'joke' picks (the guys i really don't think should be playing for us).
James because we don't need a guy like him, he's old, eccentric, he doesn't give of confidence, i know he has done well for Pompey but still.
Campbell because he's old, slow and hasn't been good for years.
Gerrard because he has a broken
Barry because he is only in the team because he is left footed, he isn't good, and i just generally don't like him.
Crouch, we've discussed him.
I haven't bolded Owen for 2 simple reasons, i want to see what he can do now he isn't injured, and i want to see what he can do now he is back playing in the Premiership
i have a few more words, GO MICAH!!!!! GO SHAUN!!!! GO DARREN!!!! GO JERMAIN!!!!

you pick gerrard and not lampard! Lampard is the worst player in the team! he always underperforms, you can rely on gerrard he scores and attacks!

yes but the only reason i picked Gerrard was as i said that he is injured and won't be able to perform 100%
i know Lampard doesn't do anything for England but he doesn't have to start in fat i would do a 4-3-3 (my favourite formation)
have Richards, Terry, Ferdinand, Cole across the back
then in the middle Beckham, Carrick, J.Cole
up front Wright-Phillips, Bent, Defoe
obviously that may seem a bit stupid but i think it's alright

agreed. he needs a rest for a few weeks.

Lampard is one of those players that I wouldn't mind NOT having on the team for one simple reason:
he lacks drive. if things aren't going well, he slows down, his performance drops immensely and is the one player that is guaranteed NOT to be the one to inspire a comeback.

that team will get butchered heavily for one simple reason:
you have no one playing the single most important position in modern football. defensive midfield.
that team will do exactly the same as the Real team right after Makélélé left. the same Chelsea were just before he arrived. the same Spain were with Xavi in midfield. the same Bayern were last year in the league.
which is get overrun in midfield and even lose games they should be winning easily.
you must have a defensive midfielder. no team can make it without one. and no team can win big without an excellent one.
which is part of the reason that England haven't done much. they lack one. Hargreaves is their best bet, and that is not something to look forward to.
Anyway, on to what's important:
The Superlegue will start it's REAL action in a few minutes on one of the most beautiful stadiums the world has seen

Carrick is a defensive mid
well i'm not sure he's the best in the world, but that's where he plays, he's a creative defensive mid
and even though for some reason everyone in England now loves Hargreaves after the World Cup, i have hated him from the moment i saw him and still do, so i definatley would not like him in the England team, but i'm slightly outnumbered

so my whole post was for nothing?
I'm trying not to sound aggressive because I really am not being aggressive. I'm just trying to make you see that that is a basic mistake that is easy to make and that has NEVER worked.
Carrick is a creative player who can do a decent job in defense.
he is NOT a defensive player.
what england need is a player who can run tirelessly getting the ball and then deliver it quickly and cleanly to the nearest player who can build offense.
EDIT: I didn't stress this enough: he must be a player who is tactically almost perfect. he is the focal point for the defense AND the base for all attacks even though he is not the playmaker.
Carrick can be that SECOND player. the guy who gets the ball from the defensive midfielder. he is not a defensive midfielder.
do you remember when Atletico said they were going for the title with the similar Rúben Baraja (who is an excellent and very underrated player) in that position.
they were relegated.
remmeber what happened last season to Barça when Xavi had to do the lone defensive work in midfield? the league title that was a sure thing suddenly started to look very far away...
playing without a defensive mid works perfectly in the english leagues. not so elsewhere.

Like history and stats shows..that is one of the most important place in the field...Arsenal not so good after Viera (diferent team)..even Manu had sord of back gear.
Both of them destroyed oponent game..worked like horses..and dont get not so big aplause after all that.
But what was almost perfect with those two..they was so good game reader as theyr position needs... If they looked ok...now I need atack and hit that damn goal..they did it.
Great players.
And more..both of them got a lot yellow cards..I belive most of them wasnt sry...wont do again. There was reason to take yellow some times.

Arsenal have Cesc who tries to do that role, but fails, he is a great player but hasn't been the same since he left Barça
No, you're right Arsenal haven't been the same without the holding player, they try to make up for it with attacking flair but now thats gone to Barça () they are crap because of a certain very eccentric German

it's carved into the side of a granite mountain.
so it's in altitude. the accesses both in and out are all unusual. for instance, spectators enter and exit the stands through a tunnel UNDER the pitch. this means the 30000 capacity can exit in less than 10 minutes.
there are no stands behind the goals. just on the sidelines.
this means that there is a view of the granite wall of the mountain on one side...
and the countryside for miles and miles toward the horizon just behind the other goal.
here's some pics:
taken from the side of the mountain, overlooking the stadium and the landscape beyond.
taken from behind the goal, looking at the side of the mountain. which unfortunately you cannot see from such a low position

Cesc doesn't do that role. Gilberto does. DenÃlson too. and they do it very well. the problem with Arsenal is how young the team is.

Arsenal without Henry will be the same as with him. since he barely played last season.
I'm interested in how he will do for Barça.
he scored pretty much every goal for Arsenal on the counter-attack against slow defenders. let's see how he does in a completely different style of play. |
