@brewers90: Tell me about it, but we know this problem already.

Eneco Tour, Stage 3
i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/eneco2013stage03_zps3cba1d5d.jpg

A true stage of the flattest and most epic proportion. Don’t expect anything else than a bunch sprint.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2218_59_29-Greenshot_zps7ee35996.jpg

Ojavee, Scheirlinckx, Kiendys make the break. Minard functions as a control boy for Steve Chainel, the race leader. The first sprint of the day was decided in favor of Kiendys ahead of Ojavee.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2219_01_38-Greenshot_zps141734fe.jpg

Though the group already has two minutes advantage, Leukemans breaks out of the peloton and joins up with the 4 riders upfront. Quite some class for the breakaway now, though it remains unlikely for the break to make it. With over 100 kilometers left, they now barely have a minute lead.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2219_03_09-Greenshot_zps4773deba.jpg

A stage that is unlikely to settle down any time soon, even when we are far out of "breakaway-building terrain" with about 80-90 kilometers into the race. Leukemans took the second intermediate and in turn distanced the other breakaway riders. Now Morkov jumps from the peloton to the front of the race. Belkin, SKY and Argos are not content to let Leukemans go anywhere, obviously they know what he’s capable of if he gets enough lead. They soon hit the 100 kilometers left mark.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2219_05_12-Greenshot_zps353e436b.jpg

Morkov gets some additional seconds at the last intermediate sprint ahead of Leukemans. Roughly 60 kilometers left, 3 minutes lead. The majority of the work is down by Morkov and Leukemans, the other clearly lack the class to be of much help in those flat terrain, whilst Minard is comfortably sitting on the backwheel.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2219_07_40-Greenshot_zpseecedfef.jpg

With the peloton closing in at around 25 kilometers, Morkov once more tries his luck. The remaining road is all circuit and he knows it. Might have looked for the perfect moment. Leukemans and the others did not react. With so many kilometers though, 1’30 lead will hardly be enough.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2219_09_26-Greenshot_zps5c99cceb.jpg

15 kilometers later, he is about to get caught. We see Argos doing major work at the front and throughout the race. Degenkolb and Greipel are the clear-cut favourites for the sprint. However it’s interesting that only Argos is really building up their sprint and SKY are at least trying, whilst Greipel relies on his Degenkolb’s teammates similar to Howard and Nizzolo who show themselves both upfront.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2219_11_19-Greenshot_zpsdeda8865.jpg

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2219_13_12-Greenshot_zps9aa31e83.jpg

Race leader Chainel is doing his best to keep up at the front to avoid a time split, but all eyes are set on Greipel and Degenkolb who have a bit of a lead onto the SKY train, lead by Eisel now. Nizzolo on Hanzen’s backwheel is a good positon, as well as Petacchi, Howard and Guardini. However, don’t underestimate Eisel who actually comes extremely fast out of this turn and takes some ground onto the Argos’ train.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2219_13_35-Greenshot_zpse3ce3aac.jpg

Hanzen was the first to launch his sprint, Degenkolb got caught up a bit by Eisel, when the Austrian moved to the side. Nizzolo is in a perfect position, whilst Greipel seems to still wait for his engine to kick in.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2219_14_43-Greenshot_zps3e475851.jpg

And it’s Nizzolo who takes the stage win. Much faith has been set into him at the Giro, however he oftentimes missed out close. Now he finally takes it home ahead of Degenkolb and Hanzen. Greipel only 4th.

Brouwer, what are you doing? If Nizzolo can win a stage, so can you!

Good to see Verboven is saving himself for the last stages Wink
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Verboven can save himself on the TT Wink

Another good report but very anonymous stage from my guys. At least McDermott put in a half-decent effort even though he didn't get the top 10

Absolutely no complaints about the team there, brilliant work from Eisel! Unfortunately having to come from that far back against Argos clearly took the edge of Hanzens top speed. However a podium is still a podium and is a terrific result. Suck it Brouwer Cool

The Rider
Yes! Smile

Nizzolo picks up his first win for us after following the right wheels in the sprint. We saw in the Tour of Qatar he was capable, some stat increases paying off right there.

- Hopefully Spartacus can make ground up on the breakaway riders in the remaining stages.

What an exciting stage. Makes me lose my shit at the thought of Qatar coming back around.

Eneco Tour, Stage 4
i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/eneco2013stage04_zpsf82fb779.jpg

Another stage for which Cycleman should have checked the profile prior. Wink

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2316_58_04-Greenshot_zps9a3ebe5e.jpg

Quite some similar colors, at least Rutiekwicz (CCC) stands out. With him are Pietropolli (LAM), Kroon (TST), Roth (CSS) and Andrews (GRS). The break formed itself easily and has already a minute lead.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2317_01_28-Greenshot_zps6916b9da.jpg

We took a long nap and arrive with 50 kilometers to go. Andrews won the first intermediate sprint, and here we see the breakaway and the peloton greeting each other at the turn-around. Another circuit here at the Eneco Tour. Meanwhile, we get from the radio tour the message that “Adrien Hanzen (SKY) up-ended himself”. No trouble for him to get back to the peloton though, as Bernie Eisel is already waiting for him.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2317_04_49-Greenshot_zpsbad264ed.jpg

Very strong wind on the circuit stretches the peloton thin, as the breakaway is losing its lead fast. Karsten Kroon (TST) won the second intermediate sprint.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2317_06_13-Greenshot_zps9765d670.jpg

Gap in the peloton on this circuit cours, or was it a crash?! Around 100 riders could not hold the pace of the front, and now a 70 men peloton heads into the finish. Notable dropped names include Boom (BEL), McDermott (TST), Guardini (AST), Howard (OGE) & Markus (VCD). Strangely enough, Belkin take charge a few kilometers later; despite Boom being behind. They clearly want to launch Brouwer for a stage win, their season goal.
Drama: None of the teams are chasing back in the pack, so likely, the gap will increase exorbitanly in this last kilometers. Bad luck.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2317_09_53-Greenshot_zpsd4335a0f.jpg

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2317_11_16-Greenshot_zps4a1e7711.jpg

Vanmarcke is the rider to catch the breakaway for good, a nice effect of circumstance as he puts Brouwer up for the finish sprint. However with Degenkolb and Greipel on his wheel, Brouwer’s chances are slim. All recognizable names are up there in the bunch sprint now.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2317_11_50-Greenshot_zps504bec93.jpg

Despite a major pull by Vanmarcke, which left all rider strangling in the wind except for Greipel and Brouwer and which ultimately, left the Belgian quite exhausted, the peloton came backand now Nikias Arndt (ARG) launches the sprint as to be expected for Degenkolb. Gilbert is surprisingly far upfront and has caught Degenkolb’s wheel! With such tough headwind in the final, it may be something for the current World Champion?

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2317_13_49-Greenshot_zpsf76a8288.jpg

All white everything, Degenkolb looks set for the stage win with a few hundred meters to go, however Arndt’s lead-out leaves him consistently in the wind. In fact, Arndt has maybe pushed too hard. In further positions, Gilbert tries to fend off his sprinter competition, as Greipel gets his engine kick-started now.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Team%20NetApp%20-%20Endura/Eneco%202013/2014-09-2317_15_47-Greenshot_zps8287e91b.jpg

Stage win for Gorilla Greipel! Ahead of… someone in white, with rainbow stripes. Yup. Degenkolb got passed by smart sprinting Gilbert, who really shows that his form is just about right for this race after his second place at Clasica San Sebastian and the little stunt two days prior.

With almost 10 minutes gap, the second half of the race finishes far, far behind. Ouch! (So tired of this PCM13 bullshit...)
