Giro d'Italia Week 3

Most of the front group stopped at the top of the Stelvio for drinks and clothing. Quintana and Rolland didn't, and then they were quicker down the descent as a smaller group.

See, Quintana wasn't exploiting anything.. Even if that means your favourite riders are behind now.

^^

Can only underline this. Ppl like Kirchen sometimes needs to calm their tits. If I am not mistaken, Kirchen, you were also the one cursing at the organization when they decided to neutralize the stage. Remember what happened?

Man.

Because the stage in Bari was nowhere near as dangerous as this is right? It was basically dry in Bari. Here you got snow rain, freezing temperatures on a high speed descent and it's not neutralised.

About half of the peloton crashed in Bari. How many crashed on this (not neutralized) descent?

Can't say was it only us or also the riders misinformed. I hope everyone in peloton knew what was happening - regardless how crazy it is for Uran to allow such an attack from Quintana.

Still - the GC is a lottery right now.

EDIT - ok, I am a fan of Kwiato and Majka, but I hope I'm not a fanboy. And to support this thesis I would say anything Tinkoff says should be shoved right where it belongs - up his ass.

I don't agree with neutralisation but the riders should come to a mutual decision like on stage 4 into Bari to not attack each other on the descent. If that can't be met then you just have to get on with it and make the gap back in the valley. But like in any sport safety comes first, winning comes second!

I don't think this is comparable. Bari was slippery roads and high-speeds on a city circuit, with many, many turns. Stelvio is a long descent with freezing hands.
More importantly, I think since there were riders still upfront (Cataldo, Pantano etc), a rider-based neutralization would have been mostly allowed for the "peloton". The riders upfront like Cataldo would have said probably dismissed that decision since they were riding for victory at the moment.

You dont seem to get my point. My point is you should try to keep a little more calm. In Bari you were like "oh, what a scandal, fck this race" up until half the peloton crashed. Then you were like "right decision". Now, you are just jumping to conclusions without even knowing what was going on on the descent. As the tweet above states, the neutralization was NOT called on the radio. So please.

Not true dude. I haven't seen the finish in Bari and I requested a video of the last kilometres. You mustve mixed up me with someone else. I was criticising neutralising 150 kilometres BEFORE that finish.

Quintana can do this solo. In TdF last year Movistar have used him like carrot for Froome already so he knows.

Tinkoff-Saxo has written on twitter that the message didn't get out to all team cars.
Present:
Tinkoff-Saxo - AG2R - Colombian riders

Past:
Francisco Mancebo - Illes balears - Carlos Sastre - Kelme - Robbie McEwen

Well, Tinkov seems to have heard the same "neutralise"

- What a poor #giro organization ! They said neutralized descend and Quintana attacked. Is there any fair play in cycling? #Mess #Scandal

A long descent with many hairpin corners.

A general thought: Maybe Uran wanted to wait for some helpers and took the descent easy at first? I think I remember that Uran had hardly any helpers on top of STelvio.

Epic Failure from the Giro Leadership.

If thats true the only fair end needs to be a total neutralisering of the stage.

Quintana wont lose anytime on the climb, its freaking Quintana after all.

You critizised the organization without even - again - knowing the circumstances in Bari right? Then WHEN they crashed you wrote that it was a good decision. I can find your quotes if you want me to, lol.

Anyhow, im done with you
