And that is why I say: Golg for Kromowidjojo at the women's 50m free style (and a bronze for Veldhuis). Go Dutchies!!
ANd luckily it is swimming, else there would be a new threat here about the doped DUtch swimming team

Its a good thing, great to get people celebrating their countries sports people.
On another point
Here the BBC are massivly neglecting nations which aren't GB. As in i've watched nearly all the medal events, and have heard 2 anthems, the UK and Germany. Germanys was being talked over as well. I have also barely heard a word about non-GB athletes and competitors (apart from Bolt).
I was wondering what its like for other nations, and whether they are this jingoistic?

I like to cheer for my country.
But I guess you meant who does it help? If you are actually at an event and cheer on your country/fav athlete it can give them a morale boost possibly. But really it helps no one.

I go to the Olympic stadium to take part in the long jump finals and bring....... the bible....... oh, my shoes! If it gives him strength and believe, then he should do it.

A someone in the UK, but supporting South Africa over GB, it's irritating me how much focus is put on the British athletes. I did get to see Le Clos on the podium, but I think that's only because they knew he would cry.

good day for the dutch as well
besides the kromowidjojo success the sailing crew looks good too... 1 looks dead set for gold with a giant lead going into the medal race. The other is in a duo-lead but with only 1 point to nr3 and 4 so it could go all ways..gold and silver, but also 4th place a possibility if medal race goes bad |

On free to air TV in Australia it is swimming just about 24/7 or talking about swimming. Thankfully with cable TV there are 8 dedicated Olympic channels which cover just about every sport between them. The commentary still discusses mostly Australians but it isn't too bad in some things. And Phil Liggett was surprisingly good in the cycling commentary.

What a day.
Went over to Hadleigh Farm for my Games Maker training, trust me folks. The venue is stunning.
Then to Horse Guards for beach volleyball for what was an outstanding evening. Photos tomorrow, maybe!

Uggh, the things I'd do to afford cable. Channel 9 is a disgrace. When they're not showing swimming (very select moments) then they show some Australian coming 5th in something, without actually showing the world-standard performances. The USA basketball was on last night, they would show about 2minutes, have and ad-break, show 10 minutes of Australians on the track, go back to basketball for 2 minutes, ad break etc. etc.
Might just go to the pub to watch it tonight..

Its basically Diving, but you do 10 tricks and have to worry about not flying out of control.
Its a completely legit sport compared to other things in the olympics.
