Nah, biggest suprise is Theo Bos finishing in 53th place.
Ahead of guys like Bonnet and Boom. Boom even finished outside time limit.

I don't understand why they were racing for second place. Boonen worked his tail off and the others just sat there. Cance had a great ride but he built a 3 min lead on 20 guys? Come on. Have some respect for yourself and the race. Who cares about being 1st loser when you did not even try to win? |

Trust me when I say I'll remember the race.
The only other performance like this I can think of was also by a swiss. Laurent Dufaux in Romandie 98. Make of that what you will.

Didn't get to watch it but have trawled through the replays and WHAT an unbelievable ride. I've never seen strength like that, even from Cancellara. His form is stunning this classics season. Oh and really strong from Hammond, good result for him

Boom needs to increase his endurance. He has the strength and technique to go fast on the cobbles. He just lacks endurance. |

So when Cancellara is that strong - can he win for example Liege - Bastogne - Liege?

I can't see why not, but then he needs to focus on those hilly classics so he won't be in good shape during the cobbled classics then. |

Well Cancellara will definitely be able to win the hilly classics aswell if he decides to tune in for those... Hell I'm even convinced he can end up being top 5 TdF in a couple of years.

If they let him get away they won't catch him.
I don't know whether he has the power for over 1km of steep climbing though.

To be fair, unless he is in a really bad shape, Cancellara normally says he is aiming for the races he is competing on (with the exception of Grand Tours).

Cancellara won't win the AGR, decompression after PR is too big.
Plus he'll be up, not against Hoste, Leukemans and Flecha, but against fresh guys who climbed a lot in Basque country
If Cancellara wants to win AGR, he needs to skip Roubaix. |
