Menchov did a best deal with Piepoli....they talked a lot. Now we all have almost all the big tour situation...we again have to wait..how and when tour leader will crack (I hope he dont..he deserves that win after TdF). Sastre is big podium canditate (so he isnt useless at all )...Efimkin..great Vuelta and great form..how long? Evans not he's best form..but has fighter he is..he hangs on..has long has possible. |

Its understandable in a case where Menchov and Piepoli is in effect running two different races, and such, but it seems to happens all over the place.
Just race, and let the fastest one win, already!
Manager of Protour champions 2008, Carlsberg Cycling!! (wow is it that long ago I was in the management game?)

This is not about payment..(like Basso in giro). Just situation..possible tour leader and best climber getting away..One of them wants win the tour and need extra time between main contenders...other is preapeared to take mounatin stage win..this is natural.
If you want a fear cycling then lets close down radio talks between riders and team managers.
Let the faster win..doesnt count in Vuelta..there is 21 stages to run.

I've missed today's stage and I'm trying to find the highlights or something online. I've been to cycling.tv but you need to be registered and pay for it something top see today's stage. Does anyone know any place to see today's stage.
And before you say something, bear in mind I have not read this topic, I do not know who won and how things went, so don't tell me who won please. |

Yeah, thanks, but I haven't found stage 9 in there. As soon as I clicked the cycling tab on Eurosport site, bam! Piepoli's on the front page with win written all over it. So now Menchov is 2 minutes ahead of everybody.
The Vuelta has been decided, we cal all go home now. |

hopefully Menchov will do his trademark "crack and lose 5 minutes on the last mountain stage" move.

By the way: I think Devolder will be back on one of the mountain stages -- in a Vinokourov kind of way .... |

Just like our fanatical Belgium friends say, Devolder is going to win the Vuelta. |

Oh please no, not again...I'll be watching today but if Devolder suddenly flies up the mountain I don't think any of the officials will be happy! |

Well - ups and downs were a part of any sport known to man before EPO was presented to the foul riders of the peloton. So don't let blame the athlete before his blood turns yellow... You know what I meen.
But I think none of us would like to see a Vinokourov-like Devolder, EPO or not...
It does make the fans doubt his honerability. Is that a word, by the way? |

Freire has said he will withdraw after the stage on Thursday to focus entirely on the World Championship. |

From Eurosport:
Janez Brajkovic (Discovery Channel) has abandoned
also Oscar Freire abandoned this race earlier today. Another major Spanish withdrawal occurred yesterday when Oscar Pereiro quit the race. |
