It's winter, so it's not very important to be on the roads every days! I don't remember which magazine I read, but there was an interview with Valverde, and he did not use the bike before end of January
I use the turbo one to two times a week, the rest I do cross county and jogging.
Never more than 1.45 hours on the turbo!
Two seperate bits of his post, in the first he didn't mention turbo, and in the turbo bit he didnt mention Valverde. So yeah, great come back

I recently moved inside for the winter on a trainer, its just to cold around here 9/10ths of the time (not to say I haven't gone out once or twice ). But I've been having trouble finding a technique to help me train well. Has anybody got any recommendations for training indoors on trainers.
Heres a session i do:
Sessions that really make a huge difference to your cycling skill and strength. Working one leg at a time provides a different set of adaptations to normal riding because the individual leg at work does not demand more blood per minute than the heart can provide, which is the case when both legs are active together. Therefore from a physiological point of view the local muscle endurance development is significant. Additionally there are great technical and strength benefits.
Warm-up - 10 minute progressive warm-up, start slowly and aim to increase speed to 25mph by the end.
2X0.5 miles on each leg try to keep an even speed for both legs, judged off the first one.
Spin both legs together for a minute between the each interval intervals.
Now a decelerating recovery - start at 25mph and reduce speed progressively down to 12mph over a 10 minute period

I came 4th,Kelly was third!
Seriously though, the man is still an animal. We were in a breakaway of four,Sean, his brother, some other guy,and myself.Sean was on the front nearly the whole time, then his brother jumped with 1k to go.The other guy followed,Sean sat up I was on his wheel.I looked at him and he just laughed..he didn't chase.
Too late then,I was shattered!
Best race ever B)
