Stage 11
We are back after rest day. Riders can expect quite hilly terrain today, it is last stage before queen part of race. There are 2 hills with nice bonification for KOM competition, my plan is try to gain as much points as possible with Masciarelli and get back to game for KOM jersey.
Several non dangerous riders attacked right after start, no one in peloton seemed to be interested in chasing and they quicky built solid gap. When we came to the foot of first climb (Alto Collado Bermejo) Francesco Masciarelli attacked. I was quite surprised that noone followed him. This climb is long, co Francesco had a lot of time to catch breakaway riders. He joined and passed them few kilometres before summit and took full points here. He realized it is smart to wait for them again in descent so he did. With 80km to go their advantage was still about 8 minutes, but peloton finally woke up and started to decrease their loss. Francesco definitely lost his companions right after start of second big climb of the day and continued alone in front. His advantage over the P. shrinked to 4 minutes during mostly flat section though. Juan Jose Cobo, who is fighting for KOM jersey too attacked peloton as first, while especially Cervelo and Euskaltel teams controlled pace of the peloton. Francesco passed summit of Alto Campo de San Juan with 2 minutes advantage over Cobo, heavily reduced peloton with main contenders came another minute behind. There were no typical descent after summit, I must admit these 15km of flat/light hilly terrain provided hell on earth to our young climber. He could keep solid advantage before chasers though. Main contenders decided it´s right time for racing in this part of stage and started with attacks. Contador, Menchov, Sanchez, Mosquera, Garzelli, Sastre and several others came away from tired peloton and cobo was quickly chased down. One man still wasn´t satisfied and attacked again - Ezequiel Mosquera in national Spanish jersey started to hunt Francesco. Meanwhile visibly worn-out Masciarelli finally directed to finish town. Modest descent could help him to keep advantage, but Mosquera was getting closer by every second. He was close, very close, but Francesco defeated his lead until finish line and achieved incredible stage win!!!! Unhappy Mosquera finished few seconds later, while main contenders came 1 minute later. Masciarelli was awarded for his effort by Maillot blanco for best rider too, great day for him and whole team!

have already played 2 mountain stages (will make reports tomorrow), unfortunately again almost without pictures as I forget to make them during mountain battles Last thing what I can do to prevent these stupid crashes is re-install game completely. We´ll see tomorrow if it helps... |

Good news, game seems to be more stable after re-install! There were few minor bugs appeared though, e.g. missing protect icon beside rider (luckily protection works well) or energy gel doesn´t blink when you click on it (works fine too)
Nothing I couldn´t deal with it |

Stage 12
We are facing to first of three mountain stages in a row. Riders will climb to Alto de Velefique first, then Alto de Calar Alto, easy Alto de Castro de Filabres and finally Alto de Velefique again!
Tadej Valjavec tried his luck today. Although he built huge lead in first half of stage, it was suiciadal mission. He passed two summit and collected maximum points there though.
Francesco Masciarelli enjoyed riding in white jersey. Although he felt a bit tired after yesterday, he gained several points at Alto de Calar Alto and moved up to KOM competition (see table at the end of report)
Tadej Valjavec was caught about 40km before line and slightly reduced peloton came together to final climb. I was really surprised we could see only one half-hearted attempt for attack from Menchov and Monfort there. However only best prepared riders could keep together until finish, when we finally saw marginal gaps between riders. Alberto contador in gold jersey was the strongest man today and slightly increased his overall lead. Stefano Garzelli was able to hold with main contenders until finish and his form is still increasing. It is very good news before second half of race and world championship!
I expected much more thrilling stage after nervous yesterday´s one, but feel quite satisfied with its process. Now we are heading to queen stage of race, finishing at Sierra Nevada! Report later today, stay tuned...

You are in all....Francesco as already a good lead on YGC.Teams Clas. you don´t have a chance and at GC if you manage a top 15 or 20 is great result. |
