An Post SKT - EXTREME: story is over
beagle
I already played 4 stages of ToB and must say it´s quite monotonous and mainly disappointing for me Grin first update tomorrow

beagle
I´m sorry for lacking of updates...hope I´ll able to report ToB soon...

Meanwhile I´d like to introduce two new riders for season 2011. It´s impossible to sign real ace, they simply don´t want to sign with my team Sad I was already thinking about breaking of "nations" rule (only brittish, belgium and maybe luxemburgian riders in team), but doesn´t offer contract to someone other so far. New faces are: Rhys Lloyd and Tom Stubbe.

Stage 1

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/12092010-0.jpg

Opening criterium in London´s streets. Weather was cloudy, no rain has come. Vachon and Tronet from Roubaix team had best position when final sprint has started.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/12092010-1.jpg

But they didn´t keep enough pace...Cav moved out from behind, only Smolen could keep with him...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/12092010-2.jpg

...but for only short moment...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/12092010-3.jpg

Mark Cavendish won this stage comfortably ahead of Eisel and Breschel - treble for Team Columbia!

Stage 2

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/13092010-0.jpg

Maaskant, Goss and Stalder tried their luck and launched attack after last mountain sprint...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/13092010-1.jpg

...but were caught just before sprint.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/13092010-2.jpg

Mark Cavendish was badly positioned deeply in the pack...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/13092010-3.jpg

...he didn´t care, accelerated and moved ahead like a rocket!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/13092010-4.jpg

Cav won stage #2...Nikolas Maes fought for podium place, unfortunately finished 4th...

to Bosskardo: Vuelta is cominng to the end, only 2 stages remain...Maxim Monfort has golden jersey ahead of 2 riders from Andalucia....there is terribly weak startlist Rolling Eyes

Nice race, hope you´ll get a podium finish soon. Is Maes on top form?

And is there chance for your riders to get to WC (well is guess Millar is a sure one)?
i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz249/PCMkardo/TranscodedWallpaper.jpg

beagle
I´m coach of Czech republic, so I don´t know Smile

Maes is about 90-92 fitness, but there are simply much better sprinters (Cav, BH, Greipel, Eisel, Farrar, Goss etc...), but I make as good as possible I think Grin

Stage 3

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/14092010-0.jpg

If there is a chance to make some time gaps in Tob, this stage, with some steep hills, is ideal for it. Thirsty riders from early breakaway knew it.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/14092010-1.jpg

There were many attacks and counterattacks in last climb...Philip Deignan was one of riders, who attacked shortly before peak.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/14092010-2.jpg

Big group (including riders from early break) has formed in following descent with 20km to go.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/14092010-3.jpg

Few riders dropped from leading group after last sprint, but 15 riders continued with their effort.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/14092010-4.jpg

8km to go, Matti Breschel decided to go!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/14092010-5.jpg

Nobody can follow and Breschel took another win for Team Columbia and took up yellow jersey from Cavendish.

Stage 5

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/16092010-0.jpg

Hilly terrain close to finish should give an opportunity for succesfull break and yes, Smolen attacks right after mountain sprint. Goss, Guillou and Maaskant counter.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/16092010-1.jpg

But only Goss with Maaskant managed to stay in front few kilometers later. Tempo is really fast, there are several splits in peloton. Luckily Philip Deignan was active and moved in front positions atm.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/16092010-2.jpg

Leading duo survived until last kilometer, Goss opens sprint.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/16092010-3.jpg

...Maaskant wasn´t able to beat him...Matthew Goss takes stage win! It´s first stage when Team Columbia didn´t win here.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/16092010-4.jpg

Deignan finishes 5th behind Bates and Guilou, with same time as other 140 riders. Shame there were no time gaps.

Stage 6

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/17092010-0.jpg

Another one for sprinters. Maes felt very good today and decided to follow strong Saxo duo Cancellara/O´Grady. So as Cav.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/17092010-1.jpg

But it wasn´t smart decision, both riders must be out of shape and lost speed rapidly...Boasson Hagen and Eisel moved ahead.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/17092010-2.jpg

Last corner, Eisel in front...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/17092010-3.jpg

...and wins ahead of Cavendish and Farrar. Maes finished only 6th, I feel we missed good opportunity to make podium place today.

You know, as I´m coach of Czech republic NT, I can´t affect if some of my riders will join...will you be satisfy with results only? Smile

Not so bad result, considering that you play in extreme.
