I didn't win my open 10 TT, but i did do a new pb Grin

There was a big tailwind on the way out, and i averaged 32.5mph for the first 5 miles- spinning out in the 53x12 lol

Ended up doing 21.33, and the winner did 20.08 (i think).

First race of the year for me on sunday, should be fun.

Also, on my short (but intense) training ride today, I went full aero today (previously I had lid back on my saddle and dipped my head) for the first time. By that I mean holding myself just above the top tube, head on-line (or even beneath) the handlebar. It was freaky, but fast, and I got the hang of it pretty quickly.

I have a couple races this weekend. 2 crits saturday (cat 3's race, then a p/1/2/3's) (plus I get my TT frame!) then a 66 mile road race sunday over a hilly course.

Done 4 events in the last week and a half. Last wednesday was an e/1/2 crit, where I got in a break and lapped the field twice, before it started pouring with hail and the race was shortend. I got 5th.

Saturday was another e/1/2 crit, where we averaged nearly 27mph and I came 10th.

Sunday was a club tt which I won, and yesterday was another e/1/2 crit which was the fastest bunch race i've ever done at 28.5mph average. I messed up my tactics and ended up leading out the sprint.

Fun times Grin

Well, I did shitty.

Basically, because of bad cleat tension in one of my cleats, I couldn't clip in at the start of the race. I therefore was already about 8 sec down by the time I really got started, and with the speed of the group (the start was a lot quicker than most people figured) plus the difficulty of the course, I never had a shot to get back on, so I finished way down (18 out of 23, second out of guys who were dropped). The worst part is I know I could have hung with the group had I not had such a shitty start.

Well I had another race today. A small circuit with a tough hill that we had to climb 14 times. As 1st year Junior i think i did quite a good job finishing about 10th after working and attacking a lot for our leader Smile

Next week I have the second race of Portugal's Junior Cup.

raced a road race saturday, got dropped on the second lap on the finishing hill, tried to chase on the descent and rollers, no dice. 50 miles total and dropped out at the feed zone. Crit today, hesitated a second too long before following an attack on the last lap. never got to him, and he won by millimeters over the pack sprint and all I got was 48th. I should have won. kinda bummed.

Where exactly in California do you race? I will probably be going to California for summer holidays in August and I want to know if I should look out for one of your races.

Levi4life
Northern California, most of the races are in the SF Bay Area. Northern California really is the place to go though, especially if you want to race.

https://ncnca.org/road/

in August there are some good races. Timpani is a fast fun crit on excellent roads, Patterson Pass is a hilly and very hard road race, Dunnigan hills is a mostly flat race with a few rollers, where the wind always splits the field, depending on which category you race it can be really long or short. it's a 48 mile loop, and most races do one loop, though my category does two. Suisun is a classic 4 corner crit with good pavement and a short course. Two Wheel Crit is fun, though they moved the date so it clashes with San Ardo, which is a bummer. San Ardo was such a fun race last year, until I flatted 5 miles from the finish, University is a bitch of a race. 12 mile loop, 6 miles up 6 down. Winters is a mostly flat course with a 3 mile climb mid lap.

If you make it here in September, the Giro di San Francisco is a brutal crit just a block from the Embarcadero. The Folsom Omniom was fun too.

My bad luck just continues. Had a race yesterday. 100km mostly flat with some hard hills. Attacked at km 0 but only managed to get away maybe for 5 kilometers. At km8 we started the first climb and I attacked again.

This time I had a bit more luck and I managed to build an escape with 2 other guys. We had about 25 seconds over the pack already after 1k and the 3 top teams were represented so it was predictable that no one would chase us down.

We start the descent and i puncture. The cars are behind the pack because we still haven't 1 minute of advantage. I wait for the car for about 3 minutes because the pack was stretched out because of the descent. I get on my bike and the traffic behind the pack was normal. Cars coming from every direction and I motorpacing at 55km/h.

My car has to stop in a traffic light and I continue. About 300 meter later a stupid woman leaves her garage and doesn't even look to who is on the road. When she is in the middle of the road, she stops suddendly and I crash pretty badly and have to abandon the race.´

Well, I'm pretty pissed.

Wow thanks. The website for races in Winnipeg has about 2 races this month and about 3-5 every other month. You have sooo many races to choose from its not even fair. I'm definately looking into entering one of these races if I'm allowed to.

Had my first race on Sunday, it was horrible. Only have 1000km in my legs (damn college) and I was like a diesel, a couple of sudden accelerations and I was out the back.
My brother was 8th, Jaan Kirsipuu 9th (allthough I heard he got home from a bar around midnight in not so good condition. Probably had a hangover).

racing after a late night out is always fun. I had 3 hours sleep before saturday's road race.

I had my first race as well but didn´t finish because soem Dutch riders made a horrible speed (average of 45 at the beginning and it was a small circuit with with four times braking&acclerating).
Since i´m a very bad sprinter and rider for flat races i was dropped and abandoned...next weekend there another race, hopefully better than this one

I know these don't count towards the points tally, but at the Thursday Race Ride today I attacked a group of about 8 guys, mostly cat 2's, dropped and tried to solo to the line. Only one guy got up to me, a pro from Cal Giant, and he sat on till the last 100 meters. the two of us finished well ahead of the rest.

I got second today. Started from 7th with 200 meters to go. A really hard race. Tried 3 times to get away, only made it more than a lap once.

The did the p/1/2/3 race. Steve Cozza was there. crossing the finish line on the second lap, there was already 5 guys with 10 seconds gap, including Cozza and Tim Farnham from Adageo. Less known, though still really fast is Sterling Magnell, who has raced most recently for Toyota United before Rock Racing shafted him. Farnham won.

I like your team shirt and the bike but I've mentioned that I like it before.
