Stage 5
Cholet - Choteauroux
sprinters battle will continue..last sprit stage was reality hit for Fischer..Boonen, Huhshovd, Cavedish and Steegman was so much stronger and faster..
Rebellin again out front..this is strange stage for KOM jersey leader to be alone at the front..
Fischer follows Cancellara today..Katusha train at the left..Pozzato is leading out for Steegmans..Cavedish, Hushovd and Boonen follows..this feels like winning train..
..and here they go..Pozzato still speeding Steegmans..last corner..
..and Steegmans is off...Pozzato work is done..
I have seen before that Cavedish is fast ..but always had problem with position battle ..today that is perfect..he passes Steegman..Huhshovd trying to keep up..
..and first stage win for Cavedish..2nd. Steegmans 3 rd. Huhshovd..Boonen keeps points classification lead..
Fischer had he's own battle with..Cancellara and Gilbert. 5th..

Stage 5
Wolfsberg - Graz
This stage was breakaway story..
Hugh group get away..Liquigas did not get any raider into this group..They isnt much fast out there..but main reason is that peloton dont want o chase them down. Serramenti PVC team has controlled on every mounatin stage speed..got Simoni in yellow.
Out front Bruno Rizzi ...Team Corratec atacking away when they had 25 km to go..
Group started to chase..but nothing seems to be working..now one dont like to do the work..
Final 3km to go..finaly duo Stefan Denifl and Patrick Calcagni is decided to work together and go after Rizzi..
This must be hard moment for Rizzi just when last km is on the reach they had caught him..
and they pass him..looks like Calcagni is strongest..he takes a lead
..but now Denifi has one gear left..this looks easy. He is much faster..
Great day for ELK Haus.stage win.

Still very impressive work with Fischer, the question is will he try and get in a few breaks over the massif central and pyreenees stages to snatch some more points?
Will you be trying for the mountains classification?
A glance at the GC before the first big mountain stage suggests that this is going to be an Evans/Astana/Saxobank battle at the top - I hope Kruezinger can hang on! |

Stage 6
Aigurande - Super-Besse
First time hard hilly stage..I have to admit i am a liitle worried and nervous..
Good that I have Kreuziger and Nibali..
Davis, Ballan and Joly breaking away...
Hill before final climb..Valverde, Cunego, Gesink..Andy Schleck and Barredo
Silence Lotto controlling the pack..as usual van den Broeck at the front and real fast tempo..
Lead group in descent..Cunego, Schleck and Gesink
Moreau and Voigt going after..
Evans joyning with Moreau group..
Gerdemann, Sastre and Kreuziger trying to follow..
Last climb..Gesink all alone at the front..
G2..Gerdemann, Schleck, Vandevelde, Popo, Evans, Cunego, Efimkin,Kreuziger
Gesink is caught..and Schleck launching atack..
Vandevelde , Evans, Gesink, Kreuziger, Popo ..
Just before final km. other tour favorites will cach the breakaway group Anton, Leipheimer, Sastre...This is about stage win right now..
Evans takes a lead..Kreuziger follows..he likes to take stage win..and show for me that he is best man for team leader position..
..almost but still no..Evans will get he's second stage win..
Nibali must be angry he missed last breakaway wave and has lost to much time..

Stage 7
Brioude - Aurillac
Hill top..Barredo, Gerdemann, Valverde, Moreau and Nibali..who is feeling great today. He hasnt raced Giro..looks like he slowly getting he's form back..just right before Pyrenees..
descent..this is gonna be realy long 50km down hill..not main question is..should they work together?
Jens is coming..for to be possible stage winner or as Saxo Bank tactical player?
..another great downhill specialist Sanchez trying to atack away from main group
..and Evans atack..Cunego and Sanchez follows..Five raiders group still at the front..
..and this will be end of the breakaway..and at the same moment they starting to atack against eachother..this one will eat a energy..
Just before the sprint..Cunego, Sanchez and Valverde has a small advantage..
Nibali is trying to get back..
..sprint..Valverde is out of the game..This is gonna be between Cunego and Sanchez..
..and Cunego taking TdF stage win..
Great move for Fischer he is has atacked just before sprint..to get max points..

Exactly the kind of stage an experienced rider like Fischer can make the difference. I enjoyed the little attack by Nibali - but you get that ominous feeling that 'The Boss' (Armstrong) is watching and waiting for the Hautacam. Watching all these youngsters sprint for seconds and then struggle when he puts the hammer down! |

I remember this stage... I won it with Gerdemann but Rogers lost the yellow jersey to Menchov.
So Kreuziger is going to be the leader or at least he looks better than Nibali at the moment...

61. edition
Stage 6
Podersdorf - Wien
Final stage in Austria...
Another breakaway day..this time Liquigas was ready Kuschinsky, Marco Frapporti, Davide Malacarne and yesterday stage winner Rizzi again..
After hill Kuschinsky and Frapporti seems to stongest..Rizzi and Malacarne cant follow..
Malacarne comes back..but this is it for Rizzi..
23km. to go..and Kuschinsky launching atack..
..and Malacarne is gone for good...
Kuschinsky feeling today great.far at left side we can see main group is closing..we need to keep pushing..
..one more atack..Kuschinksy is off..can he survive
Inside last km..he has given everything..looks like he has made it..
Liquigas finish this tour with stage win..Noe 6th. in overall GC..
..Glomser is sprinting ..he is fastest in main group ..2nd. and Vanotti 3rd...place today..wait!..that means?. Yep this is fact now..thanks to that last stage sprint Glomser is tour winner..I belive Simoni did not exept that one coming..
But Glomser deserved that win..he was raiding super tour..always active..point jersey..KOM jersey.

Stage 8
Figeac - Toulouse
..last sprint stage before Pyrenees..
Who is this..Armstrong has tecnhical problem and bad timing it is..30km. to go ..and tempo is real high..now it is intresting to see how Bruyneel will response..
..he send Hernandez..but Armstrong is so much faster then him..when he waiting Lance..Lance fly pass him..so this was all help..just to see friendly jersey.
This is why you need for tour also flat raiders ...
Moncoutie has a problem..almost all Cofidis comes to help him..
.. crash..Pate is down..he was Vandevelde protecter..oh now..
...this is it for Vandevelde (you can see how Lance is flying pass in backround)..tour is over..big hit to Garmin team..Feillu same story..
Valjavec..tour over..
Katusha is trying again..they was so close last time..one more time..Pozzato leading ..Steegmans follows..they trying to get away..
..other sprinters are confused..all favorites are behind Hushovd..who seems didnt know what to do..
Steegmans is off..he has solid lead..last time Cavedish was passing him inside final 50m. today he has solid advantage...
Steegmans leading..Hushovd..Cavedish..Boonen train at the right side..Fischer is tptaly lost today..I even dont remember when he missed sprint so badly..
Steegmans takes deserved stage win..Fischer should give green jersey back to Boonen..
Btw. this has been intresting tour for Liquigas..they already has owned at least a day all tour jerseys..
But biggest news for the day: Vandevelde and Valjavec had crashed out of the tour.

Stage 9
Toulouse - Bagneres de Bigorres
First mountain stage in Pyrenees..we can serious battle at Aspin climb..
..first climber stage and first time Astana taking control over...
Vogodny will leave he's breakaway company behind at Peyresourde..
Aspin climb has started..Sastre is off..Cunego follows..
Karpets atack is long and strong..he takes a lead. Moreau trying to follow..
Sastre again..he is very active.. Andy Schleck trying to follow..this isnt easy..there is still few bike lenght between them..
Hugh group follows..good to have Nibali in there..Btw. Nibali is again better in the climb compared with Kreuziger..
Kreuziger with Mocoutie coming into group..so far everything is perfect for us..
at front..Sastre keep on pushing..and Andy still hasnt got he's backwheel
Levi moving front..and start to drag real fast..Kreuziger in trouble..who we got here?: Leipheimer, Evans, Sanchez, Karpets, Cunego, Rogers, Gerdemann and Nibali.
Kreuziger and Gerdemann in trouble..they cant keep up..
at the hill top Andy is finaly caught Sastre...
G2...Leipherimer , Evans..young guys Cunego and Gesink atack's .
In descent group comes together..I am glad to see Nibali inside..Valverde is coming from behind..
so..situation..Andy and Sastre at the front..
G2 Evans, Cunego, Leipheimer...
G3..Sanchez, Fränk Schleck, Moreau, Cobo, Valverde, Nibali, Karpets, Valverde, Gesink, Rogers..
G4..Kreuziger is with Armstrong and Barredo etc. this is main group..at the moment..
Evans group has just caught Schleck-Sastre duo..
..final km. sign is close. Some how Leipheimer will drop off the game..
sprint..If we have Evans , Sastre, Andy, Cunego..you can choose easy the favorite..
Cunego takes stage win nr. 2..Giro strong hillysprint duo was Cunego and Valverde. But now Valverde seems to be totaly lost now..
Nibali keep pushing with Rogers..that means same time with Leipheimer..
Kreuziger is front of the main group..but he looks dissapointed. Team leader spot is sliping away..

Stage 10
Pau - Hautacam
Most hardest stage for Liquigas..I hope that both ..Kreuziger and Nibali should get theyr peak in alps ..but today they need to survive..
They was climbing over Tourmalet quite friendly..but when they come to Hautacam..Andy Schleck go's first..he would like to but behind 2008 TdF crack in the same climb..
Cunego, Cobo, Evans follows..
Gesink trying to join that group..
Then Evans decided to go..he has been incredible on every stage..Sastre starting to chase with Andy Schleck..
Sastre, Andy, Sanchez...Cunego, gesink, Leipheimer...
And there is first Liquigas raider..Nibali is again much better..he is trying to join with Sastre group..again raiding with Rogers
Split..Sastre going to fast for Gesink..4 raiders getting away and going after Evans (Sastre, Sanchez, Leipheimer, Andy)
Nibali in trouble..he cant go with Rogers..now he is with Karpets, Cobo and Gerdemann..
..at front Sastre decided to leave Andy, Leipheimer and Sanchez behind..he is going after Evans
..and here they are Andy Schleck is pulling this group..Sanchez have so far great tour..he have to be top form..
Inside..last km. Evans will take another stage win..and decide the race in Pyrenees..
..and he can celebrate..crazy fan is loose there..
then Sastre, ..Leiphaimer has left Andy and Sanchez behind..
Nibali comes with hugh group..2'21 later..he has survived..
Kreuziger comes with Popo and Chavanel 3'44 later..not bad. But he should be dissapointed that Nibali has again beat him..
