Had a quick chat with Jakob Fuglsang a couple of days ago, he mentioned to me that Matti would be fighting for medals, while him and Chris would be doing the attacks, if they had the guns for it. He obviously didn't, but Chris did. I'm really looking forward to following the danes for years to come. Both Matti and Jakob are great guys to chat with aswell, so i'm definately rooting for them... |

I don't know if they're sincerily making fun of them, but if they do it goes to show that they're severely mistaking.

You're wrong. They enjoy making fun of people like me, who still believe in them (Cunego, in my case).

If that means me, I make fun of the fact that a lot of Cunego fans say he's a climber....when he's clearly suited "only" to the classics. That is all.

I wasn't refering to you because during our discussions I have never gotten the impression that you were making fun of Breschel.

I see. For the record I've been saying for a long time Breschel is hugely underrated. He's just not a sprinter and will never be.
I think that sums up my views on him nicely.

Thats what Nicole Cooke has said.
It actually looks very similar to Varese
A climb, a downhill, a climb, and flat till the finish, but no real descent. Also, the climbs are even harder. I expect even more climbing type riders. No Breschels there |

Don't take this as chauvinim please, but I'd like to acknowledge José Mendes' ride. A young man on his first season out of the under-23s, at the end of a long exhausting season that saw him ride the Volta a Portugal (even Rui Costa didn't get to do that).
And he sticks with the pack until the last way up the final climb.
I'm stunned at him.

Not bad at all by Cozza... and seeing Paulinho in 21 reminds me that Portugal is done with cycling. |

The 3th place by Breschel reminded me of the last worlds in Italy, in Verona 2004...U23 race
1 Kanstantsin Siutsou (Belarus) 4.33.33 (38.823 km/h)
2 Thomas Dekker (Netherlands) 1.01
3 Mads Christensen (Denmark) 1.02
4 Domenico Pozzovivo (Italy) 1.09
5 Vincenzo Nibali (Italy) 1.30
6 Matti Breschel (Denmark) 1.38
7 Giovanni Visconti (Italy)
8 Marc De Maar (Netherlands) 1.41
9 Andreas Dietziker (Switzerland) 1.50
10 Nick Ingels (Belgium) 1.51
*sigh* If Dekker were here now |

GO NICOLE COOKE!!! Brilliant win for her, Vos looked to be stronger but seemed to underrate Cooke as she put in far too much effort that in the end she couldnt match Cooke where it mattered.
The road race was a good watch too. Italy were always bound to win, but I was cheering on Breschel! Awesome ride by Russ Downing to not only finish, but finish in a very ston g group. Also good to see Froome at the front for a period.

I don't understand why Vos attacked. I she'd stayed in the group Cooke would help with the chasing. As it was Vos attacked and wasted energy. |
