Just like a mechanical or a flat tire ? Well, but it was not.
Specific decision for specific event.
Ok, so they don't want Froome, who is going for the GC to lose time in the GC because of an incident like this so they give him the same time as Mollema.
Let's say this would have happened to the group upfront. Pauwels, de Gendt and Navarro are the one who crash into the motorbike. One of them gets up more quickly and goes and takes the stage win. What do you do with the other two? They don't care about the GC so giving them the same time means nothing to them. How do you give them back the the chance to fight for the stage win which they missed because of a specific incident?
EDIT: Not to mention how unfair this is to Mollema. If it wasn't for that incident he would have gained even more time on the Bardet group. What do you do with that? How do you give Mollema the time that he lost back?

honestly I'm more intresteding in know why the Quintana/Valverde group get's counted as being in the Yates group, elevating him to 3rd and dropping Mollema down to 4th

What would be fair?
Nullify all the results of today's stage no one making any gains or losing any? Making the point of the day pointless and a waste of energy and time?

Quintana and Valverde somehow got 7 bonus seconds. And TVG got 12 seconds back.

Did they put Quintana and TVG back in the Yates group? |

You cannot blame the fans or the organisers, This is again a problem with the motos. The motorbike was way to close to the riders, just look at the footage. Also it happened in a corner, so maybe it was bad bike handling of the motorbike rider. |

It was all three of these peoples faults; the organiser needs to ensure there is enough policing to keep everyone in check and keep them away from the riders. The fans are getting more stupid as the years go on, they get closer and don't look properly or think about what could happen. And that moto was fucking close, way too close. They should think ahead and think about these situations as a pose to getting a few seconds of great camera time. Even if they didn't slam on the brakes, he disrupted the race by not giving Richie enough space to attack.
Everyone says something needs to be done, but we were all saying this back when Laurens Ten Dam was crashed out by that car. |

Uh, wut? It really isn't, a mechanical and a flat can be mostly avoided by using a good mechanic, picking a good line, shifting well and using different tech like tubeless etc. This was not in any of their control therefore would be unfair to post the times.
Guessing your favored rider didn't benefit as much or you dislike someone in that group... |

I don't understand Sky, if they said : Don't change the result, we will live with it, and try to win anyway. They would gain sooooo much respect.
When he wins due to this, fine but......

Well yes neautalizing the GC time gaps for the stage and just awarding the stage win would of been the fairest thing to do

What for?
Go and find UCI rules. Read. And find me the section that specifies he should be fined.
There is no such rule.
All depends on how you read the rule regarding completing the whole course with a bike, to my understanding he didn't do that by running without his bike with him but others read it differently which really highlights how poorly these rules are written.

On a side note running tubeless won't stop you getting a puncture on the road, while it works well on MTB's there have been plenty of issues with tubeless sealant actually sealing with road bike tyre pressures, doing things like losing 40 plus PSI before it seals or if it seals at all. Also you won't find a bad bike mechanic at WT level, of course some are better than others but I can assure you that every bike that takes the start line has been set up by a gun bike wrench.

What did this decision do for rider safety? Not attacking you at all, it's a genuine question as to the reasoning behind that statement
