Quintana needs to become a lot more explosive. He didn't look to be in trouble today but he is just going to bleed so much time on these stages.

Valverde 1 - Quintana 0. For someone who came here to "take it easy until the third week", Contador's competitive spirit and what not sure is keeping in the GC.

Pure class by Valverde. Like I said, he's his best self always in Vuelta. Quite a bit happy he has shown it to the people who underestimated him. Q remains captain of course, this was Valv territory.
Bertie! Fantastic to see him up there as well.

This have almost zero to do with explosiveness, just pure climbing skills. If you watched Burgos, Quintana sprinted the last km up de Neila and leaving Moreno and the rest in a few accelerations. Simply put he just wasn't feeling that well as he also said earlier today or yesterday or whatever. He was in his redone the last kilometre i seemed. Same had happened on a longer climb.
And once more, I just have to lol at Garmin. Pacing the whole peloton, then Hesjedal their supposedly team leader loses massive time yesterday and no where to be seen and Martin which this take was perfectly suited for cracked which was blatantly obvious when Talansky lead and Martin was loosing a few wheels.
As I ALWAYS have said, Valverde is more than happy to work for Quintana. Just happened that he clearly was the strongest today. And once again, he shows for that he is clearly, without any doubt, the most consistent rider one the whole field, almost any terrain, from february-september. I can fuckin hide how glad I am for that performance of his today, simply world class. Fuck haters.
Chavez with a fine performance, more than accepted. He will be better throughout Im sure. Just a pure climber and a big talent. |

Just take form book and throw out. After TdF performance all said Valverde was out. Froome and Contador have not raced since TdF crash.
All expected Quintana, Purito but they could not answer the acceleration.
But they will be top 5 in which order no one knows. |
