Vuelta a Pais Vasco Stage 4
Stage 4 of the Vuelta a Pais Vasco is the queen stage, finishing at Eibar. With 3 cat 2 climbs and 2 cat 1 climbs, the day will be for true hard men. Expect the action to start from a long way out and for the attacks to rain.
The Race
Here is the day's breakaway. It features Matteo Montaguti of AG2R, Wladi Pedrovski of RusVelo, Javier Moreno of Movistar, and Tom Dumoulin of Argos-Shimano.
With 50 km to go, the pace at the front has reduced the group to two riders. Behind, the FDJ lead bunch is flying, and the two men at the front have only 1 15 with still a lot of racing to go.
With 42 km to go, the breakaway has been caught, and Fuglsang immediately accelerates out of the 64 rider bunch.
With 31 km to go, Frank of BMC has decided to go for the solo win as FDJ keeps the pressure on at the front. Sanchez and Robert Kiserlovski are trying bridge up to the Swiss rider.
With 20 km to go, Sammy Sanchez has succeeded in getting rid of the other attackers, and has 1 45 on the peloton. Kiserlovski is stuck in the middle at 40 seconds behind the Spaniard. Also, Michal Kwaitkowski has crashed in the descent of the previous climb, and is 1 minute behind the peloton.
10 km to go, and Kiserlovski now trails Sanchez by 20 seconds. Francis Mourey is still in contact with the bunch 1 minute behind the Croatian.
As soon as the bunch hits the final climb, Danny Moreno decides it is time to attack, and he is getting a gap!
With 5 km to go, there are riders all over the mountain, with Sanchez and Kiserlovski leading the charge 12 seconds over Moreno. The next group is Contador, Spilak, and Costa at 30 seconds behind the leaders. Kwaitkowski has finally rejoined the peloton over 1 45 back.
With 4 km to go, there are 5 riders together at the front. Behind, Porte, Kelderman, Evans, and Talansky are coming across. Costa is stuck between the two groups.
With 2 km to go, Spilak is at the front setting a tough pace for Moreno. Sanchez is really struggling, and Porte is 10 seconds behind the five leaders.
Contador leads the five man group under the flamme rouge, and the stage will end in a sprint. Who would take the win and who would take over yellow?
Its the stage for Kiserlovski! The Croatian deserves the win after over 20 km on his own! Contador takes second and Moreno, who finishes third, will take over the yellow jersey.

Not a badstage there for the Androni Team, Obviously I would have liked a few more attacks but Pellizotti taking 12th is not the end of the world. And a fantastic showing by young Evegeny Shalunov who took a very solid 15th.
In the GC both Franco Pellizotti (13th) and Sella (15th) are within striking distance of the GC leader.

127th place. Things look good, our target of a top 130 GC look on target.

Very good! Two in the first group and Moreno taking over the GC! I haven't expected PaisVasco to be such a successful race for Katusha! |

I can't believe we are failing such an easy goal. Majorly disappointed in König.

#LeFaucon is enjoying the Basque country. Just a short hop away from his traditional hunting grounds LeFaucon is demolishing his prey with gusto!
#EPICfdj could be doing better... well Cervero could be doing better.... at least he can't really be doing worse

What a win! 13th at P-R with Fabian and a win here with Kiserlovski against the likes of Moreno, Porte and Contador ... what the hell! For upgrading Kiserlovski in the season break I have to take some credit for that!
(Hope those bananas don't crash the website!) |

Decent ride from Kelderman. He has a good TT, so it's still playable
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
