Nope, looks like they are going to protect Evans and put him on Gerrans wheel. Still haven't had a chance to see what Erik Zabel has, and he's been more consistent than Ewan too.

And I think Greipel takes today's stage because he has a better train. Last km's are very technical iirc from last year

Pretty horrible Tour Down Under for Marcel Kittel in the end. Seems like Koen de Kort ended up sprinting for Giant - Shimano. Decent result for Omega Pharma - Quick-Step in the end there, was always going to be hard for Mark Renshaw or Andrew Fenn to defeat Greipel.
Lotto jumped at the right time. For a moment there it looked like they were boxed in but managed to get through.
Spoiler
If only I could get my PCM trains to function like this.

Nice victory for Greipel, though. What happened to Kittel?
Argos brought him up to the front with still over 5-7 km to go I think. Then when everyone else sped up he got behind. Sprinted for de Kort instead.

Great pic from Belkov who hits Tulik in the sixth(?) stage. I hoped for a better result from Gesink but sixth isn't very bad. TDU was a good start from hopefully a great season.

Really? What lead you to think that ?
Looking at the field beforehand, I'd say 5th was going to be his best result he could get considering Porte, Evans and Gerrans coming in shape from Aussie RR as well as Ulissi and Gerrans sprint abilities suiting the TdU. Plus other few contenders.
Think you are expecting too much if 6th in this field isn't quite good, which it is.

@Alakagom: I don't say that the field isn't very strong and that I'm disappointed with his sixth place. I'm just supporting him and it would be great if he could've ended higher than this. But still, sixth is a good result.
