Its not thattt surprising Contador and schleck were dropped, this looks like an exact repeat of what happened in the real tour. Froome ahead of Quintana and Rodriguez witha fighting Valverde and Mollema, who is trying.

@LLS: Yeah, I noticed it on that stage too. Let's see if it stays that way.
@Matthew21rp: Apparently, yeah.

@Blueprint: C'mon mate, it's the Mont Ventoux. Big gaps are part of the fun.
I don't mind the gaps, I mind that my riders always fail here

Just checked general career discussion topic, seems like I won with Nibali at Ventoux the last time I played it. Already forgot about that!
Anyway, good luck with the rest of the Tour. You have a bunch of exciting stages ahead and I hope to see some orange fireworks in the Alps!

@Blueprint: Thanks mate. Yeah, indeed the final week is quite fantastic to play but after stage 16 here we might have to reschedule them.
Tour de Pologne Round-abou
While the world is eagerly watching the Tour de France, the organization of Tour de Pologne apparently decided to keep their slot during the Tour de France they received last year. It was an intense race. For Euskaltel – Euskadi Jon Aberasturi, André Schulze, Pablo Urtasun, Ricardo Mestre, Ruben Pérez and Ricardo Garcia. The race was won by Romain Hardy (COF) ahead of Francesco Gavazzi (AST) and Jesus Herrada (MOV). After the mountain finish stage up to Szczyrk, Hardy’s teammate Ghyselinck took the stage win and looked like a winner after defeating Cunego in the sprint. Both had quite a big gap on the other riders and profited from their presumed breakaway. However, the next Hardy went also in a breakaway and Cofidis didn’t chase their own rider, that’s how Romain Hardy ended up in the Leader’s Jersey more by accident. In any case, with two stage wins and overall victory, Cofidis can be more than happy. Big Favourite Peter Sagan meanwhile only took one stage win and might be a bit disappointed.

Stage 16
After the rest day, a hilly route should give chances to breakaway wins. It’s definitely one of the more difficult though and getting the right breakaway will be crucial.
Yup. Azanza launched his attack right at the start. He achieved a 3rd place so far, and honestly got closer to a stage win, than any other of our riders. With him being in a great shape, it’s only fair that Azanza takes another shot at a stage win and he is eager to perform.
Having attacked so early paid off since Leukemans, Hivert and Klöden join too. Other riders who attempt to get out of the peloton ain’t so lucky and the break has already around 1’30’’ lead at the end of the first small climb.
Up to Col de Macuegene, Nikki Sörensen, Dyachenko and Riblon are set to join the five-men break. Luis Leon Sánchez managed to catch up to Group Azanza all by himself. So there will be definitely strong enough contenders today. Unfortunately the competition means that Azanza’s chances decrease drastically. Hivert beat him last time, Klöden is quality and the others: Well, they appear to be better suited for such a stage… But no moaning on our part, we made our call and we live with it, and Azanza will try to make the best of it.
Before the finish can be crossed the first need to tackle the climb up to Col de Mense. For that, they head straight and ignore the route to the finish. This will be an intense for the stage I presume, as the gap is around 7 minutes and one of these 8 riders will be the winner at the end of the day. None of the riders pay any attention to the intermediate sprint though.
Henao, Betancur and Voeckler attack on the Col de Mense, while no one has made a move yet in the breakaway upfront.
Certainly, with 3 kilometers to go, they feel that now is the right time. Azanza goes with Luis Leon Sánchez, Riblon and Klöden. Especially Azanza and Klöden know that they need some lead now as they probably can’t keep up with Hivert in a sprint.
As Sánchez takes off the pace and looks at the others, Azanza acts and tries to takes his chance. Just about one kilometer left to the top, now he has to give everything… Azanza lacks massively in sprint for such a finish, but he at least he will go down fighting.
Klöden, Sánchez and Azanza on the top. Still a long way to go. Dyachenko joins them soon later.
Damn it, talk about losing sight of things. Rodriguez, Contador and Quintana attacked. Evans works for Sky now. Nieve is a bit far back.
As Hivert & Co. join the group, Azanza tries another time his luck. This time in the downhill. He has to!
Klöden was the only one to react, but couldn’t quite keep up. When Sánchez & Co fpass this corner, Azanza is already gone out of their sight.
Nieve has completely lost touch to the peloton, he really needs to give everything. The situation looks far worse now than I previously anticipated. However, in case, Quintana & Co. get caught by the peloton, there might be a good chance to catch up to them.
Euskaltel – Euskadi holds its breath as Azanza heads into the final 3 kilometers.
There go all chances of a stage win today…
That last corner – “Oh”, I think, “that’s how the finish is supposed to work…”
Clear victory by Luis Leon Sánchez. He is certainly a man for such a stage and he has shown that today. Azanza gets 5th.
Nieve gets around 2 minutes later into the finish. 2 minutes lost on the peloton… I can’t believe it. I really have to ask myself, if I am some bad sign for the team. This is all too similar to the Giro d’Italia stage 11. Some Euskaltel guy upfront, while we miss everything happening in the peloton. Just get this Tour de France over with, please, I think. The finish in Gap leaves a massive gap in our quality and spirits…

Another good ride from Azanza, but in deed a disappointing day by Nieve.
It's always hard to keep track of the favourites when in a break on a day like this...

5th place and Nieve lost somewhere....
Really frustrating stage given all your efforts

Thanks guys. Indeed it was quite frustrating, especially when Nieve dropped or whatever happened there. That rather pissed me off. Azanza is in real great form, I wish he could have gotten that stage win today though... sigh.
Anyhoo. I`ll upload tomorrow the time trial so don't except anything from Euskaltel - Euskadi by that. Alpe d'Huez will probably come online on saturday or sunday...

Oh well. In Grand Tours things go wrong more than they go right. In the next fewstages try early breaks with Nieve, he might be allowed to go and you could get some time?

The racing has been already done for a couple of weeks so I can't change anything but I like your thinking.

Just keep it in mind, although Im pretty sure it only works in Grand Tours and maybe only when youim everything, i tried and sometimes it works.

Against the Illusion – Part 3
Katu wasn’t too sure about my drunken perception at first, but when I kept talking about it, I sounded more and more assured. “Maybe it was just a guy banging his wife in the night and feared that the team wouldn’t appreciate it…”, I tried to explain.
“Yeah, we wouldn’t.”
“But what if it was something more? You know, something illegal. Wouldn’t you want to know about that?”
“Yeah, we would.” All his sentences decreased themselves to such short answers, just trying to process and think about the situation, with me nagging on his ear and trying to push him. He knew something might be fishy here, something awfully wrong. Something the team and he wouldn’t appreciate. Something that might have been a good story for me to leak, but instead I decided to help the team out – approach this topic the right way, over official channels.
Tour de France, July 2013
Stage 17
This 29 kilometer TT from Embrun to Chorges features two nice climbs, which will make it difficult for riders to manage their effort just perfectly. Clearly the favourites include the best combinations of climbers and time trial specialist: So basically, one man foremost – Christopher Froome will be the man to beat today. Since Nieve lost yesterday all hopes for a decent ranking, the entire team will treat today as a test run for the final 3 days of mountain stages yet to come. So expect nothing.
Our guys found out a good effort for not outpowering yourself too much while also not losing too much time. Hopefully. Igor Antón will try to make use of that as he starts in Embrun.
A bit later, it’s Nieve’s turn. Meanwhile, Antón is currently 8th at the first intermediate, where Jakob Fuglsang holds the current best time.
There’s already a sea of flags at this first climb. Impressive.
And on the second too, where Igor Antón rides a calm pace up.
Spain’s TT Champion, Alberto Contador, shows his class. He demolished Fuglsang’s time at the first intermediate by 30 seconds and seems to be fly up the mountain as he is close to catching Nieve and will surely a new best time at the second intermediate too.
We told you, we don’t care about today. Not a tiny little bit. So go on, Bertie, show us your class. Meanwhile, Igor Antón arrives at the finish. He still looks relatively fresh. 2 minutes on Henao, well – that’s okay. We didn’t ask for anything else after all.
Chris Froome is the last to pass the first intermediate and he is 6 seconds behind Contador. “Even” Quintana is 4 seconds faster than him.
With about a minute lead on Fuglsang, Contador has set an impressive time. Nieve is still on the road.
He arrives a bit later though. Looking calm and good. It’s alright. 3 minutes on Contador. Nieve certainly could have done way better but we have bigger fishes to catch in the coming days.
Contador put time into everyone. Currently, Rodriguez is the 2nd with 30 seconds behind, and only when Quintana comes, Contador is loosely threatened, as the Colombian is only 17 seconds behind. Froome meanwhile is 4th, 32 seconds behind. This is obviously not a normal time trial.
Froome on the last meters, but there’s no beating Pistolero today.
El Pisterlo smiles off the podium, while Froome remains in yellow with about 2’50’’ ahead of Quintana.
