@sutty68: His palmares his looking great, many young riders would love to have such a list of achievements

The profile of the race of very hilly and a small group fought for victory on top of the Cauberg. I was stroke by bad luck in the first kilometers as I was caught in a crash. I had no troubles getting back on my bike but the race was over in my head, I never managed to refocus myself.
As I said, a small group fought for the victory here in Valkenburg and Wilco Kelderman was our only man for the victory. When all the favorites made their moves he was the only who could follow them.
My former team mate and French Champion Arthur Vichot ( FDJ) Won the race quite easily winning by 17" on Carlos Alberto Betancur Gomez ( ALM) and Daniel Martin ( GRS). Wilco did not managed to enter the top 10 but he took a promising 11th position.
I ended the race at the 25th but with a lot of energy left that's too bad.

The manager decided to bring the same 8 riders to the three Ardenned Classics so we could easily use the friendship of the group.
The race was quite easier than the Amstel Gold Race, less up and downs. I felt like the only difficulty of the race was the Mur de Huy. But that's still one hell of a climb that we had to go through three times. the first one wan't the hardest one, the pack was not riding that fast.
Then the second time we had severely accelerated and it was a bit harder to follow the wheel but I did it.
And then bad luck stroke on the team again. In the last downhill the road was wet, it was still raining and Wilco Kelderman went to the floor. He was our leader here but as we were so close of the finish, the DS gave us new orders : "bring Dries or Georg to the front they'll know what they have to do".
We did what he asked but again we did not managed to get someone in the top 10. Our best finisher was Georg Preidler who ended 13th. I managed to stay with the main group and I eventually sprinted for the 19th position.
Vincenzo Nibali ( AST) was the man today as he won with 13" on Greg Van Avermaet ( BMC) and Arthur Vichot ( FDJ) who again ended on the podium after his recent victory in the Amstel Gold Race.

The races did not went as well as we expected, the top 10 was at list what we were hoping for the two races there. Let's hope we'll have more luck in Liège - Bastogne - Liège.
Anthony Louveille.
I will make an interview of Anthony after Liège - Bastogne - Liège. If you have any question you'd like Anthony to answer, feel free to send them to me by PM.
Thanks. |

Race Report:
The breakaway went off quite quickly. We tried to have one of us at the front but we did not managed to. We had to stay in the pack and as we were not ranked as favorites, we let the other teams do the job.
The race was very calm, not as I was expected. I thought it would have been harder to stay at the front but it looked like the pack was taking it easy.
When we had 33 kilometers left, finally someone made a move, it was Daniel Martin ( GRS). BMC was now riding faster as one of the main favorites was off the pack.
10 kilometers latter, it was Lars Petter Nordhaug (BEL) who was on the attack, Daniel Martin ( GRS) had already been caught and the breakaway were not at the front anymore.
Again, it was BMC that took its responsibilities and Philippe Gilbert ( BMC) was already in second position of the pack.
Then with 18 kilometers to came the big attack, Vincenzo Nibali ( AST), Daniel Martin ( GRS) and Carlos Alberto Betancur Gomez ( ALM) were putting much pressure on the shoulders of Philippe Gilbert ( BMC) who made his team mates worked in the chase before going by himself in the chase.
It did not took long before he was back and he even took the luxury of attacking in the Côte de Saint-Nicolas. the three behind him reacted immediately and he did not have the chance of going really far.
But in the end in Liège, it was Vincenzo Nibali ( AST) the strongest. Philippe Gilbert ( BMC) took the second position and Daniel Martin ( GRS) the third. Georg Preidler ( GIA) took the 11th position and I took the 20th position by ending in the main bunch once again.

This is it for me, it's time to make a break in my season and I will do that during the Giro d'Italia. Well I mean a break from racing, I will have a training camp to progress on short hill and I will ride the roads of the French National Championship which is my main goal now.

We had a tough Tour de Suisse, Warren was ill in during the first two days and against guys like Demare ( FDJ) or Sagan ( CAN) I had no chances in sprint finish.
The only good thing that happened to us was the victory of Jonas in the 4th stage.
Warren got better in the last days and he managed to get a top 10. I ended at an obscure 44th position but the condition is there. I fell like I'm going to do well in the French Championships.

@sutty68: To be honest, this was far worst than what we expected. But it is still great to see that are riders managed to get some top 10 in stage races.
@SSJ2Luigi: Thanks I will do my best
Chapionnats de France
The Squad:
Warren BARGUIL
Johan LE BON
Anthony LOUVEILLE
First, before starting the reports, let me tell you that Johan successfully defended his title as he won for a second year in a row the French ITT Championships. A new National Jersey his also coming in the team as Tobias Ludvigsson won the Swedish ITT Championships.
Many riders were able to win this race, I was listed as a main favorite for the victory but riders like Arthur Vichot ( FDJ) or Tony Gallopin ( LTB) could be a real threat in the final of the race.
The pack let go 5 riders in the morning breakaway, Vincent Jérôme ( EUC), Antoine Lavieu ( LPM), Thomas Bonnin ( NSP), Arnaud Gérard ( BSE and Jérôme Pineau ( IAM) were the only riders allowed to go at the front.
The pace of the pack was set by an incredibly strong FDJ team. They had many riders who could took the victory and they wanted to keep the jersey in the team.
I was never far from the front always with either Warren or Johan.
Tony Gallopin ( LTB) was the first Favorite to attack, he tried to leave the pack with 26 kilometers. FDJ was there and he did not managed to go very far. This when I asked Warren to set a herd tempo at the front to tired some organism.
The attack of Tony Gallopin ( LTB) was only the beginning of what would follow, many other riders tried to escape the pack and the only one who put much pressure on the pack was Jonathan Hivert ( BEL). He joined the breakaway hoping they could help him but they were all empty.
In the last "steep" portion of the race, when there was only 6 kilometers to go, I decided to accelerate, it was a way to test me and the others. Only Arthur Vichot ( FDJ) reacted on time, as former team mates we collaborated well and we quickly had 1' on the pack.
With 3 kilometers to go, a group of 4 riders was now chasing us, The presence of Thibaut Pinot ( FDJ) in the group was a good thing as he would not ride against Arthur.
He was with Pierre Rolland ( EUC), Tony Gallopin ( LTB) and Jonathan Hivert ( BEL).
At the front, I always had the advantage on Artur, I don(t know if it was the pressure he had or something else but when I stopped riding, he did the job himself. I surprised him with an attack under the "flamme rouge", he did not reacted on the moment, the gap was made, I was going to win the French Championships.
And yes !!!! I did it I am the new French Champion. This is a great victory for me and I can only thank Warren and Johan for all the work they did today.

After the race I learned that John Degenkolb, Jonas Ahlstrand and Luca Mezgec had all won their National Championships which make a total of 6 national champions in the team.
On an other topic, the Team Manager announced the 9 names for the Tour de France and to my own surprised I'm not riding it. After the Spring Classics a list of 12 riders had been announced and I was in it so I thought that it was okay and my recent win should have been a real positive points for me. I am very disappointed and as my contract as not been renewed yet, I shall include "riding the Tour de France in my conditions".
So here are the 9 names:
Warren BARGUIL
John DEGENKOLB
Tom DUMOULIN
Jakub FOLTYN
Simon GESCHKE
Dominic NERZ
Yuriy VASYLIV
Tom VEELERS
Adam YATES
After that deception I refocused my season on the Eneco Tour and on the Fall's Classics. I well determined to win with this jersey and that before the end of October.
And to conclude, I also received by mail the classification of riders in the team:

@Ian Butler: The team manager did what is though was right, and sincerely I do not think he made the right choice.
@sutty68: the weather was really bad at the beginning of the race but in 5 last laps the sun was out, the roads were even more dangerous as they were really wet.
@SSJ2Luigi: The fact of being the French Champion is not a shock for me as it is a reward for all the work I've done in the previous weeks and of course the fact of not being present on the road of the Tour de France is a big disappointment and I will have to live with it.
In early July, I asked a meeting with my manager to talk about many things I have to say, I started with my disappointment about not racing the Tour de France, he explained me that I was still young and that I'll have plenty of other occasion of riding it which is true but will I wear the French Champion Jersey? I'm not sure.
Then we talked about my contract which end on the 31st of December this year. They want to keep me, I want to stay but I have conditions. I gave them my conditions and now it's up to them to make a proposition. Otherwise, many teams showed interest in me and I already have realistic proposition for next year. To show you how much I'm desired, here is a list (non exhaustive) of teams that contacted me:
- Tinkoff Credits System (WT)
- BMC Racing Team (WT)
- Garmin - Sharp (WT)
- Cofidis, Solutions Credits (PCT)
- Team Europcar (PCT)
- Cycling Team Philips (PCT)
That's all for now. I now know my future races so here is my program:
27-Jul | 3-Aug | WT | | Tour de Pologne | 12-Aug | 18-Aug | WT | | Eneco Tour | 25-Aug | - | WT | | Vattenfall Cyclassics | 28-Aug | - | 1.1 | | Memorial Rik Van Steenbergen | 1-Sep | - | WT | | GP Ouest France - Plouay | 7-Sep | - | 1.HC | | Paris - Bruxelles | 8-Sep | - | 1.HC | | GP de Fourmies - La Voix du Nord | 15-Sep | 22-Sep | WT | | Tour of Britain | 2-Oct | - | 1.HC | | Milano - Torino | 4-Oct | - | 1.HC | | Giro del Piemonte | 6-Oct | - | WT | | Il Lombardia |
See you in Poland
Anthony Louveille. |
