For example at the Artic Race of Norway, Ardnt finished way ahead of Sinkeldam on two occasions. It looks like he was leading out Ardnt from the results or Ardnt just is that much better.
He was intended to participate, but since it turned out that he is leaving Garmin for BMC, someone decided it will be better to give a chance for someone other. I have the impression that it's Fairly who benefited from it.

Plus Ardnt is better on the hills imo.
Well, now you mention it(I just watched Arndt's results), Arndt is more impressive than I thought, he's quite good.
Sinkeldam had a good April though, not sure who'd lead now.
And yes, Arndt is better on the hills indeed, but there aren't a lot of tough flat stages this Vuelta.
