What exactly is this "be a pro" mode? Starting as a 18 year old and having to play 4 to 8 seasons before you can even think about getting a contract with a WT team?
I don't want the AI to control my team. What if they don't sign the riders you like? What happens if they fire you? And what happens, if your avatar rider does not grow into a star but just a water carrier?
Or do you want a "be a star" mode, where your avatar rider will grow into a top rider based on your preferences like in an RPG game?
But as far as I understood, it is possible to control a single rider in PCM 14, while the AI controls all other of your riders.
No different to starting with a Continental team and working up to WT status.
You would still control the team as normal you just have the responsibility of yourself.

If it is the same, then why do you request it? |

they can add a rough be a pro mode just by replacing/removing some things
take carrer mode
in carrer mode are staff AI who is doing what you do as manager
so just replacing you as manager with staff AI who will worry about contracts, season planning, training camps if afford....
no simulation button,so removed sim button
in 3d removed your teammates buttons so you can't control them or give orders, your teammates are on auto button by default
on auto button your teammates act like the other AI riders
your teammates will help you or not, depends if staff designated you a leader or sprinter or free role
pretty simple to come with be a pro mode next year

Consider posting these requests in the official forum and preferably before the game has been finished.
Or are these wishes just to make yourself feel bad because you know that it has not been implemented?
Trust me, I will
The reason ive shown my wishes in here are because this is the largest PCM community.
And it surprices me a bit that Cyanide not are getting these ideas aswell

As far as I know, the AI is doing the season planning already, not?
And I still don't think it is a good idea to have the AI do the contracts or spend money.
I am not sure why you want to remove the simulate button. Would I have to play all stages my avatar rider is participating in?
About the auto mode of team mates. I am pretty sure the AI of the new game will define the roles automatically (like in all previous games). So judging from the game presentation, all you have to do is activating the auto-mode for other riders to play in "be a pro mode". |

no because you still are a manager and must plan season for all, renew contracts or bring new riders
being a manager and keep eyes in 3d race just on 1 rider that could be usefull for guys who write these forum stories but it's not be a pro
as being manager of course you will keep yourself until you retire as rider or you are a weak manager and team go bankruptcy
no fun in that
i want a be a pro mode, not a carreer mode that with my imagination i can transform in a wannabe be a pro mode
the thing is that developer can add a be a pro mode separated by career mode and they don't need to create be a pro mode from 0 or scratch
they take career mode, remove some thing and add some thing that fit
for example in a real be a pro mode, you get job offers from more teams with different money contract and role assigned in team
as rider if you don't perform well, you get worried that you won't get a contract and it's game over
be a pro mode it's different then manager+controlling riders
you aren't a manager and you can't control your teammates, you control just you
all the action in be a pro is on road and few time when you want a new contract

Ok, but I still don't understand why this would/should be enjoyable.
How can you be certain to become a top class rider? If not, what would be the fun of beeing a water carrier for your whole career?
You said, all the action is on the road. But the first 2 or 3 seasons, you will only be a helper, so where is the action and fun? And what happens if you don't bring water to your top riders? I cannot image any consequence which would be reasonable for a game. |

It's sometimes REAL fun to be water carrier at the start of career and to slightly develop your rider to a star. Even if he doesn't become a top rider, it still can be alot of fun (being fighter f.e. - attacking alot, sometimes winning stage-races, stages, even some classics with early attacks, fighting for KoMs, Top 10/20 in GTs... Something like Rolland or Voeckler in real life)
It's way more boring to control someone like Froome and win everything, in my honest opinion.

That's the point I don't understand. Why should you be allowed to attack or fight for KOM as a young rider? Don't you get a role from your DS?
And how does your rider develop? Do you improve, if you fulfil the role you have been assigned to? Do you get EXP to level up? Or do you have to do some mini-games as trainings to improve faster?
I never said that it is fun to control Froome, but PCM let's you select from 10'000.
In my opinion, controlling the same rider for years can never be as interesting as controling 50 to 80 different riders (number of riders depending on length of career).
I played a lot of small teams and it is not very funny having a hard time bringing my rider into the break only to notice that he is the weakest of them, stage after stage.

We clearly have the different definition of what's interesting and fun.
Yes, riders would develop just as in PCM (by racing more, by racing the races that suits him and his ridestyle etc) + with addition of training camps, breakaway bonus and small things like that, who exists in MyCareer/Be a Pro modes in NBA 2k or FIFA series.
Also, he should follow the rules that DS sets to him, but he also can decide not to do so (as in real life - DS can say something but it's on rider whether he'll do it or no). He'd recieve a fine in money/not racing the races he prefers if he fails to do well even when DS said him to be patient, but if he manages to win or get a good result after not listening to DS, it should lead to some bonuses, more EXP and things like that. Everyone, even mad and always serious DSes likes cocky riders that are successful.
And, why are we even discussing this as this thing won't be added in PCM for at least next 5 years?

Maybe because loads of people are crying every year that it is not in the game yet?
I hope Cyanide focuses first on proper AI to fix the broken game, before focusing on gimmick game modes.

in fifa when you start player career you are a 60 ovr player and even if you select real madrid they will send you in loan at a weak club
you play in a low division with riders that doesn't have huge stats so you can actualy win some races or have top places
achievements just for be a pro to boost his stats like admir said
why i keep talking about be a pro?
because gameplay evolve really slow, babby steps
you(as plural) noticed that every version of pcm has something broken.in next version fix something but manage to broke something that worked
you don't get a better AI,gameplay changes aren't big
so what actually remain to not be dissapointed?
easy,adding a new mode(without removing other mode)
be a pro mode, some new track modes like pursuit, madison, mtb mode, cyclocross mode
they have some options
if you put your game on market every year and in some years you bring almost nothing new to gameplay, then please clients, fans with new modes
be a pro or be a cyclist or cyclist career it's the most desired mode

You are talking about Be a Pro but yet complaining about gameplay (or the game in general) evolves very slow..
It's like complaining why a train is late whilst before a train derailed..

I think we will never see a "be a pro" mode in a PCM game (hopefully).
For a little team like Cyanide this would be to much.
EA also had 2 games for managers and players.
FIFA developed by EA Sports and the FIFA Manager developed by Bright Future.
So you can see even EA differences between managing and playing.
PCM is a Manager Game with a great 3d game feature. Sure it`s not the best but it is outstanding in comparison to the 3d gameplay of the FIFA Manager.
So I think Cyanide is doing a good job in satisfying people in both, managing and 3d-racing.
By the way Cyanide first needs to fix some other issues for example the AI gameplay and then going another step forward.
