Yes, install the variants.
Otherwise you'll have the same race routes every year, which is pretty lame.
I didn't have an error, and I don't think there's a risk, if you have an error, you can probably still play PCM, but just without the variants 
At least I think so, but your choice...

thx... guess i'll have to try it.
other question: do i have to install it in my PCM Season 2013 folder or do i have to create a new folder in that PCM folder?

No, just the Pro Cycling Manager - Season 2013 folder(if yours is called like that)
But watch out, the installer automatically installs it in Saison 2013 or makes a map automatically. You have to change that manually.

thx... so i have to watch out that it doesn't create a new map, then. now, i just have to wait for it to be evening.

another question, sorry for bothering you: if i install the variants pack, it does not overwrite or change my local.cdb - because i changed all the cya to uci by myself etc. and i don't want this to be changed again just because of the variants pack?? |

No, it does not.
Variants are just stages. They won't overwrite anything, they are just extra stages, to make the race route for almost every WT race different each year

yeah, i knew that about the new stages, but just wasn't sure about a possible change in the local.cdb or career.cdb!

sorry, me again (hopefully, for the last time): it doesn't matter if i have already started my career (i'm at the end of february/beginning of march), right?? so, installing the variants pack in the middle of a career shouldn't be a problem?

That's the same error guys. Just 1.
A tutorial to fix it is located in this topic, can't link it right know.
It's that there's no FKID_laststage selected for that Course Solidarc race 
Just insert the right one in FkID_laststage in Dyn_race and insert the right stage name in gene_sz_selected_variant or so in Dyn_Stage.

Nah, you have to give the race number 6494.
But you have to edit Dyn_Stage first and edit gene_sz_selected_variant, otherwise you can't select 6494 in Dyn_Race.
I haven't experienced an other crash than this one, at least not after the update

I know, it doesn't have anything to do with variants.
Just the table gene_sz_variant_selected or something like that, in Dyn_race.
You should be able to select 6494 t1_solidarnosc_06_2012.
You can only do that if you add the line t1_solidarnosc_06_2012 in Dyn_stage -> gene_sz_variant, at the line with the ID 6494.

Yes, definitely.
I personally don't really like the PCMfocus DB. It doesn't add teams at all... Also, the stat matrix is a bit strange(results might be good with it, but it doesn't really attract me), and the regens(talents) produced by the game aren't adjusted to their new stat matrix, making a lot of these talents worthless.
Also, this one is just waaay bigger. Especially if you like CT teams.
it's wrong to criticise a DB because of a weird matrix if the corresponding results are realistic
People often criticized PPDB for using a matrix with too high stats or weird combo's, but that DB always had the most realistic results.
By the way, Focus already fixed the youngrider issue, they now have reallistic xml file for the scouted riders.
The only reason I don't use it is because Focus DB has some other unfinished work. And FDB is simply bigger
I'm waiting on PPDB though |
