Germany might have a real shot for some upper places this year, the winner of the latest edition of The voice of Germany will participate in the qualification and could work kind of like Lena in European eyes...
But the first political aimed swipe has taken place. Ukraine I have directed their song at Russia and the Tatar genocide of 1944 in Crimea. Russia will not be happy about this. But well done Ukraine for doing so, I see this as standing up against Russian aggression. But expect this to explode over the coming months.
You could have talked about the new UK selection finalists...

Just wait for Joe & Jake. Plus, best thing about the night was MÃ¥ns, this contest is crap in comparison to the others from around the continent: just look at Scandinavia and the Baltics, UK learn a lesson!

Already have my fave Darline, has to be, best song by far
This is already a step normally the public don't have a say the BBC always choose.
Well back in 2007, 2009 and 2010 we choose, but only the artist, the BBC's biggest blunder was picking a big-name artist but a god awful song. The BBC actually look like they're putting money towards this

Not enough, most of the finalists are not good enough only Joe and Jake and Darline are good.

I can't even tell which song that's from. And it's not.
I mean, I was hardly expecting Melodifestivalen, but we were offered two excellent entries that were unique, powerful and generally Eurosuitable, then were given some X-Factor identikit that wouldn't have looked out of place in Latvia.

Ace Wilder's latest MelFest entry 'Don't Worry'
This would fit in quite well in Supernova in Latvia though, but I agree its no standout but on the UK's shitty standards this is an improvement, it was the only one with production and it is retribution for Tom Frantzis in Eurosong!

Probably about 12th I think, I am expecting one of Denmark, Ukraine or Germany to win so far. Germany reminds of Lena a bit in 2010, different to everyone else, young singer relatively unknown, a gamble, I can possibly see it paying off for them. Ukraine's stab at Russia will get them votes and Denmark have a good history when Sweden hosts, they have won on the last two occasions in Sweden latest being Emmelie de Forest in 2013.
I don't think Ukraine's entry will get past the EBU, let alone the voting public. Also, bear in mind that of the 200 million people who watch, only five million or so have actually heard the song before and know its context.
