Crazy day. Real sad for Vino and JVB. Nice to see a Frenchman in Yellow, but appualing that the driver chose to hit the riders instead of breaking infront if the tree.
"Big bruises on lower back for @andykloedi. X-Rays say nothing broken. Ufff..." - Johan Bruyneel. That's better news, with the rest day and 2 flat stages he should be ready for the Pyrnees.

Hoogerland really is the revelation of the 2011 Tour. He said in a reaction with the Dutch TV that 'the driver would not have wanted that he and Flecha crashed'.
It's a hero to me. He doesn't swear about the organisation, but remains calm en talks nicely.

Amen, Cabyon.
Hats off to Johnny who even remains a gentleman - "I guess the driver didn't do it on purpose" - in a situation that I would have looked for a gun ...
You mean a musket, don't you ?
Reacting with passion is rarely like reacting with wisdom. Praised be Hoogerland's reaction.

Radioshack started with 4 possible captains and it was supposed to be a good way of having at least someone who is in good form.. After the first week with 0 proper mountainstages at least 3 are out of contention and now even the last one is injured. No matter what one might think of that team I have to feel sorry for them as they have been extremely unlucky
Bernaudeau said something interesting in an interview post-stage (yeah, for once French telly managed to come up with a relevant question, hell must be freezing). Europcar have been relatively spared from falling during this first week. And, according to him, it might very well be because they chose to use aluminium rigs instead of carbon ones for their wheels. Aluminium ones have a better reaction time when you need to brake suddenly (that's when falls happen). Yet, many of the riders who've fallen so far were or have been using carbon rigs.
Last year already, during the Spa stage, even though that famous descent might have been oiled and wet, somebody (forgot who, sorry), said that despite those conditions, teams were still using slick tires inflated to the max. Totally unfitted to the conditions, but with a better performance in normal conditions.
Ah yes it must be the aluminium rigs!
That's probably also the reason why those losers of a Flecha and Hoogerland got run over by a FRENCH tv car instead of Voeckler. They didn't have alimunium rigs.

SCHANDE, the frenchies didnt do it right, they missed sanchez
Not funny and you shouldn't wish that happening to any rider.
Its not ment funny, iam dutch, its a disgrace how a oficial car bumps 2 foreigners.
Learn to read..
I'm probably a better reader than you
But obviously 8 years old.
This is an insane Tour de France. I like drama, but this is getting dangerous. Way too many people on those narrow roads they picked this year. The organizers did a really poor job it seems.
Contador injured his knee.
Great... only the Schlecks are still injury free + Basso + Evans.
Not exactly on my favorite list of GC riders, except maybe Ivan Basso.
Blah.
I can't stand one of the Schlecks winning, really I can't. Hope Contador recovers soon.

I'm sure the car driver chose which riders should be run over by a car and which shouldn't. He did a great job making Hoogerland fall without touching him. A billiards master.

Auh Johnny
I wrote "during this first week", didn't I ?
If even Hoogerland said the TV car driver didn't do it on purpose, it might be time to stop the conspiracy theories...
It was a jackass move, and it could have sent Voeckler and Casar down instead. Wrong place at the wrong moment, that's just bad luck for Flecha and Hoogerland.

Seconded. Should Andy Schleck at any point be out of reach I'm not watching anymore of this race. Seriously cannot stand the guy.
On another note, hope Flecha and Hoogerland are okay, I mean wtf!?
