The South African federation recently banned someone who tested positive for clem for 3 years because he admitted he was guilty. That's the sort of attitude the sport should take
So winning the Tour makes Spanish Federation not to ban but winning the WCh yes?
If Contador had tested positive for EPO for example, he now would be suspended. But he tested positive for clembuterol, a substance that it's possible to find in meat, very rare but possible. Having good lawyers makes the rest. |

So, having good lawyers means that he didn´t dope? I haven´t read any article written by and expert on Clenbuterol which says his meat-story is possible.
And Astarloa, hadn´t he announced his retirement when they banned him?

If Tyler Hamilton have had a Spanish license, he wouldn´t have been banned. His story was plausible as Contador´s is
Spanish Federation has recently banned David Garcia, Manuel Vazquez, Eladio Jimenez and Marga Fullana for two years, same for Igor Astarloa and Ruben Lobato so what you are saying is simply false.
Spanish Federation is going to absolve Contador because he has done a great work with laws (he probably has the money that other dopers don't have) and his arguments are really good. This doesn't mean that he didn't dope, but it means that he has shown that it could be possible to have clembuterol in his body unwittingly.
The other controversial case was Valverde and Spanish Federation could'nt ban him because it was impossible with Spanish laws (that now have changed) The problem, for us who're more subject to international regulations than Spanish ones, is that the Spanish authorities disagree with the fact that a rider is responsible for anything that might be found in his own body. And, to make it worst, there's been other cases (I could name French tennisman Richard Gasquet) of sportsmen being cleared in such circumstances.
As issoisso put it yesterday, to really show he's clean, he'd have to prove a couple of obvious things (trace the meat : quite easy), test a sample of that cattle, etc. but no : the simple fact a bunch of clenbuterol-ed cows have been found lately (aimed for South American markets) makes Contador's defence plausible for a protective court...
Damn it.
As for your first paragraph : just like in Operacion Puerto, what seemed blatant to me, was that all the names of Spanish sportsmen that came out were those of soon to retire cyclists, or cyclists not talented enough to shine on international races. The authorities seemed much, much more reluctant to give other names, such as A.C., ValvPiti, etc. and the names you just gave here above are not going to make me change my mind (nothing personal).

Well, if we look at the good side of this, at least Andrew won't win the Tour, and S.Sánchez won't get a podium. Both are more than enough full of themselves, so it's better this way.

I am too satisfied for contador. he does'nt deserve to be suspended. It is the jealousy of the other European nations which have no runner with his talent. It is the new Indurain. Remember yourselves how the media especially French and their public which supported andy schleck because he is French-speaking. Spanish are too strong then we say that they take drugs. French riders are so bad that they say that they are the most clean at the level of the doping. They fast forgot the virenque affair(Even by taking drugs he never won nothing. While pantani, armstrong, ulrich, di luca, heras have all won a GT)... and much others. If contador was French they would say that it is the biggest runner of every time. unfortunately I think that they are going to suspend him all the same.

For me it`s definitely not jealousy or the fact that he is from Spain.
I say the same about Schumacher, Kessler, Ullrich...
It`s for all countries the same. No exclusion.
Positive test = 2 year ban
That`s the only reason why I hope he gets banned. |

So you think because he doesn't speak french he is being suspended? What about Moreau? And I like how you left off all the spanish riders of that era who were caught doping, other than Heras.
Seriously if a canadian was caught doping, I wouldn't act like the world is against me.
Also this is just my opinion but French riders dont win as much, because they dont dope as much.

Typical Spanish nationalism plus a bit of Armstrong-like French bashing, nothing to worry about... A conspiracy theory and a culprit for one's issue, what else do we need ? Arguments maybe ? |

Spanish Federation is scared to ban him, he's the nations hopes of complete cycling success in the Tour, so why would they ban him, he wins the Tour looks good on country. Ridiculous. 2 Year ban like Valverde, totally unfair.

From the press release:
If everything goes well, the rider will take the start, tomorrow, at the Volta ao Algarve. |

ASO and RCS, if not UCI, should react by withdrawing invitations to riders and teams with spanish license in their events. |

They lost most last year, although I held out hope that they would man up and ban him, even if only for a year.
Sadly, they wimped out
