Legend you have a specialized!! Halvor just a tip/safety warning. When using your Turbo it is best not to use the tyres that you will use for the road. If you did lots of work on the turbo and didn't clean the tyres or put white vinegar on them they could be leathal! I have a continental turbo tyre on an old training wheel so that there will be no damage to my Fulcrum Racing 1s. And if i went out there would be no worries with the Tyre. |

Do you mean what does it mean? It means it can kill you. |

I won't embarrass you all by posting a picture of my bike, lets just say that unlike you lot, I go outside to train. Turbo sucks ass in my opinion, so that equals lots of mud. And rain. And more mud.

I went out on a ride today. 4 hours. I borrowed a bike from work. Specialized Tarmac expert. It was amazing. Im gonna write a short review on it soon. It just confirmed to me that getting a Tarmac is the best idea!
I hadnt been out for 3 weeks and i was fairly worried about the ride to be honest. I didnt think i would have the legs to ride. We set off at about 9:45 and it was fairly cold. I like the cold though and i was very well dressed. I was lovely and warm actually. We reached our peak on the climb and someone crashed. She was concentrating coming up to a right hand turn and the guy i was next to ended up with her in the rear of him. Rather silly. I didnt have any food on me because there is nothing in the frickin house. And i tell you what i paid for it. I hungry bonked with 45 mins to go. Oh boy was i bad. Cramp all over, chain came off and is was done. The group left me behind with about 5 miles to go and i rode solo home. It was horrible. Its a shame because i was really enjoying the bike and the ride. I had plenty before i went out it was the endurace that i couldnt stick. I got home and stuff myself because i was SOoo hungry. Then i just collapsed on the sofa and feel asleep! Just like that. |

We have a Tarmac being repaired in the shop, Dura-Ace, Ultegra Brakes, K-Force Cranks, Speedplay pedals, Ksyrium Elite, the whole nine yards. And to tell you the truth, I would still prefer a Madone.

I recently moved inside for the winter on a trainer, its just to cold around here 9/10ths of the time (not to say I haven't gone out once or twice ). But I've been having trouble finding a technique to help me train well. Has anybody got any recommendations for training indoors on trainers. |

I also have that trouble, and over Christmas considering I have to train about 80% of my days the only way I can get through turbo sessions is music. Lots of music. Or if it's a loooooonnnnggg ride then a movie. Make sure you have a fan... or three... to keep yourself cool. I personally go and sit in a rat-infested garage to do my turbo-ing. Not fun.

Get a lot of cold weather gear and Layer up. You won't catch me on the trainer all winter. I can't stand the thing.

It's winter, so it's not very important to be on the roads every days! I don't remember which magazine I read, but there was an interview with Valverde, and he did not use the bike before end of January
I use the turbo one to two times a week, the rest I do cross county and jogging.
Never more than 1.45 hours on the turbo! |

Bull and more bull.
I seriously doubt that Valverde is where he is now by not training on his bike until February. Especially as he usually does the spring classics, and to a competitive level.
And never do more than 1.45 hours? Ben Swift during this year was doing 4 hours plus of turboing when he broke his collarbone. May not be the most thrilling thing to do, but training is training.

I'll find the magazine now, think it was procycling or cycle sport. |
