What the HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lovkvist not in team Columbias Tour Team.

Think it's a clever decision. Two GTs in a year for him, it's too much, and when you think that he's already finished at the start of Giro's 2nd week.

Thats true. But he is still one off the best the first week. And the first week have the TTT.

Can anyone tell me the point of releasing magazines about the Tour, saying they have in-depth analysis of the teams, when the rosters haven't even been decided yet?

A) So more people buy it
B) Because waiting for teams to announce their squads pushes back the release date until right before the Tour. The whole point of then is as a preview, so not much use if they come out too late
C) The teams are still looked at, just not the exact 9 man squad in the race

I know about the financial aspect - but from a relevance point of view, it makes no sense to publish it before you know the squads. And I have problems with buying an outdated magazine - so I guess I'm missing out on one yet again this year Wink

Sure. There's no point in reading the squad preview part of it. But some of the interviews with riders are very interesting and of course there's the route details. Thats what I'll need because when on holiday (which I will be again at the Tour) I wont have internet Wink

Im guessing you dont buy any magazines at all then? They cant compete with the Internet in terms of completely up-to-date information.

Also if you are thinking of the danish TV2 Tour magazine, don't buy it. I bought it last year only to find, that all the articles were based on TV-sedgment that were shown for free during their transmission on national TV. I kind of felt ripped off having paid for something that was not at all exclusive and provided supplying insight to their TV-production.

In other news. I was wondering who to put my money on in the prologue. It is a rather long one, so i am guessing, that some of the good timetrialers who are not always good on prologues, will be up there in this one.

My pick is the obvious one in Cancellara, but I could be leaning towards one of the Garmin boys as it would make their tour with a win and the yellow on the prologue. What do you think?

Contador could be a dark horse, as he's good on short time trials as this one, it's not flat at all, so that should give him an advantage over guys like Cancellara and Wiggins.

based on Cancellaras performance in Tour de suisse, i can't see anyone other than him winning.

I was considering Contador as well, but maybe he will hold back a little. It wouldn't be that great for him to be in yellow so soon. On the other hand, a great prologue from him could cement him as the team leader.

Look at the climbs. Beware of Contador. Cancellara is not a sure thing.

Agreed, Cancellara should take it easily, baring a crash or something of the like. The major storyline is going to be how much time Contador can pickup over guys like Sastre and Schleck, and even to a lesser extent Evans and Menchov.

I think he is. This is his stage. Last year proved that if your doped up on EPO you can beat him in the longer time trials, and lots of guys are. I say he goes for the glory and rides his ass off. Bruyneel is too smart to let Contador do that.

jacknic
Any chance of Armstrong taking it? Or Laipheimer. Both solid timetrialers who would benefit from the hilly course?

Juan
It would be a tactical error to let Contador win in Monaco. But who knows...?
I'd say Evans, Leipheimer, Cancellara,...

Do anyone have a link to any site that has the climbs in graphic? Would like to start to plan on what to look forward to.

Ste117
Cancallara or Wiggins for the win in the prologue.

Wiggins???? No chance at all. He is not a guy of winning very important prologues. He will be top 5 at most.

Team Columbia has chosen their nine riders:
Mark Cavendish
Michael Rogers
Kim Kirchen
Maxime Monfort
Bernard Eisel
Marcus Burghardt
Mark Renshaw
Tony Martin
George Hincapie.

If not for the rain or the Bouygues rider crashing he would have won the final stage TT in the Giro
He was 2nd behind Contador in the Paris-Nice prologue this year
And the Giro shows that his climbing is much better, which means the hills around Monaco may not completely rule him out.
