But Edvald was great on the second time over Kummelberg. |

Great to see some of the non favorits showing their strengths, and impressivly by Hagen to get such a big victory in his 2nd pro season.

CT: I hope you have increased Edvald's stats for the new DB. He's one of the world's best all-rounders. Now he has proved that he's a cobble-rider too. |

not really Goss, Hayman and Kuschynski aren't great cobble riders and were in front today

Hayman ain't bad, and has been a regular rider for Rabobank in the flanders classics.

He won't be a great cobbled rider though, because of the stat limits... |

Gent-Wevelgem has almost second to none cobblestrokes. It has nothing at all to do with cobble riding.
Or should we give Freire great cobble stats as well? 2nd behind Burghardt once in a hard edition, and 1st in a mass sprint last year. Surely a superb cobble specialist, Oscar Freire.
I still have to laugh.
The only real valid tests for cobble riding are Omloop het Volk, the E3 Prijs, the Ronde van Vlaanderen and Paris Roubaix.
You shouldn't take Dwars door Vlaanderen, Kuurne, Gent-Wevelgem, Scheldeprijs and Nokere too seriously

You're not a great cobble rider if you win Gent-Wevelgem. That's not the point, but the way he attacked on Kummelberg is better than just a regular 21 year old cyclist would do. He may not be great now, but he could be in the future. Depends on what he decides to go for though. |

But then Kurt Asle Arvesen should have better stats. |

Gent - Wevelgem is a totaly different race and for Ronde you really have to be great on hills, look at Cancellara he never did a really good results there
but Hagen's not a bad hill rider - only time will tell
and gent-wevelgem is more about crosswinds and positioning than cobbling

I do believe youll find that Roger Hammond was 2nd behind Burghardt, Freire was 3rd |

tactics
A. He doesn't call tactics, the DSs do, or in rare cases the team has a rider dictating tactics (example: Kessler at Telekom from 2004 to 2006)
and
B. He himself admitted this escape was in no way at all meant to be for the race win. Someone else attacked and he covered it, which was his single job today.
alexis wrote:
sprint
He's a good sprinter from small groups. He can't touch the real sprinters though.

Let's curb that tremendous bias, shall we?
The kid can be a great rider....but he's not going to Eddy Merckx or Bernard Hinault...he's not going to beat everyone in bunch sprints, time trials, mountain top finishes, hilly classics and cobbles.
With some luck he might one day be one of the best in the world at ONE of those things. |

Ooh, Crue is taking chauvanistic suggestions is he?
Brad Wiggins, Mark Cavendish and Chris Hoy should all get 85 mountain. |
