Just got back, I'm so pissed I missed the last few Km's, but what the hell. Great ride for Ballan, but the guy I was really impressed with was Breschel, he looked really strong, and I think he has a great future. He was powering away in the break, but just couldn't bring Ballan back in the end I suppose. |

He showed in the Vuelta and this World Championships that the tour was just a problem of form. He's the no.1 favourite for the Giro di Lombardia and probably the Squadra Azzura lider for the following years. Grande Cunego |

No, I now believe, without a shadow of a doubt, that the Giro Cunego won was a fluke, he is one of the best if not the best hilly classics rider in the world, but I think he has shown he cannot win another Grand Tour. |

Same with me, in one of my old PCM 07 seasons, the first three WChampions were Ballan, Horner, and (my rider) Cunego |

I know, but i believe he's strong enough to achieve top five placings. After all, he's such a small guy, but a great person. Let me have my moment |

Wow, what a race!
I didn't want to say anything about Matti's chances after he won the stage in La Vuelta, because I didn't wanted to jinx it. I knew he would be up there all along and it was amazing to see him recieve that Bronze Medal on the podium.
I just didn't understand why the Belgians didn't help Chris Anker in hauling in Ballan, because they were sitting two riders there aswell. The only team with a good reason not to bring him back in was Italy obviously. The others had no chance of winning with Ballan out front, if they had worked together with Chris Anker and brought Ballan back in, at least they would have stood a slim chance. Of course ultimately Breschel would always beat them all in the sprint. The fact he didn't beat Cunego doesn't bother me. That was obviously a fluke, because no-one, and not even isso, can say that Cunego is faster than Breschel.
I mentioned Chris Anker before but I have to put emphasis on what he did out there today, because it was nothing short of spectacular. Of course a rider of his stature will always have serious problems hauling in a guy like Ballan on his own, but just the fact that the work he did kept the group within range, after he had worked so hard all day, is incredible. He did make one mistake when he attacked at the point were Matti was just about to make the junction back to the group on the final climb. That could have cost the win. Besides that it was an exquisite performance from Chris Anker and the whole Danish team, and of course Breschel. He has won a frickin' Bronze Medal at the Worlds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BRESCHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there's a logical explaination for that: if you cant stay with the pack, and cant get back to it in the descent either, why bother riding on? |

Actually, most riders withdrew becuase they only had a certain amount of laps they had to do. Riders that were doing to work would rider for so long completely wear themselves down and then sit back and relax knowing they did all they could. Some riders pulled out because they obviously didnt have the legs. There were a few crashes and alot of punctures so they couldn't get back on. And some riders were there just for experience and would pull out when they were completely nakered.
Most of the time too riders got back on while on that downhill. Especially the twisty parts of it. For example, Erik Zabel managed to get back on very easily after a puncture. |

You're wrong. They enjoy making fun of people like me, who still believe in them (Cunego, in my case). |
