15 minuts lead for the break today, doubt they will make it though, but still a lot to give 4 riders |

So, am I the only one who expects Cavendish to win by 2 bike lengths? |

I'm still going for Freire, but the finish certainly suits Cavendish if he can get in a good position after 200+kms of racing. Cav is obviously feeling good though if he's sent his team to the front.

I think Columbia is working for Cav... but I have a feeling Ciolek may have better legs at the moment. I wouldn't be shocked to see Ciolek get it today. |

To be honest... I'm really hoping the break gets through today. I'd like to see an unknown rider wear the yellow jersey for a bit. |

Thanks, Spronx. It's indeed interesting. I just wish that more riders, e.g. some of the Tour favourites, will be available too |

I really hope so, give Frishkorn a good result. Odd that Boyuges was chasing with two or three riders, anyone know why?

wanted to lead the pack for a couple of seconds? give them a reason to get the bubbley out I suppose. Celebrate the fact they were leading the main group for a while, before getting dropped.

58km - OH DEAR!!! A huge union protest is blocking the route!! Some group called CGT are blocking the road, and being cleared off by police as the four leading riders have somehow managed to break their ways through the mess!! This could be there chance to stay away!! Tour Director Prudhomme is begging the protesters to leave before the peloton hits that patch!

apparently they were protesting the president, and Prudhomme gave them tv time in exchange for moving aside. Would be crazy if the break were caught on the line cause they definately dropped a few seconds there. I really think the break will stay away

Demonstrations help the break... so today I'm all for them. |

50km - Julian Hawes has written in with this interesting note about CGT: "I seem to remember Bernard Hinault had the same problem years ago with the CGT." The 'Badger' did famously clash with the trade union during the 1984 "Race to the Sun", better known as the Paris-Nice race. There's some great footage of his kafuffle with protesters which you can watch by pasting the below link into your browser:https://www.ina.fr/archivespourtous/index.php?vue=notice#amp;id_notice=CAB89034964

54km - The peloton is now through safely! The protesters have been moved off of the roads, and cordoned off on the sides. Good work by the police, and maybe the peloton still has a chance to catch the break-away.
