Vuelta a Espana

Hello guys!

The Vuelta is going so well so far. After 8 stages we are in red with the top 2 positions on GC. We have the team to keep the red but who will win it. Valverde....or....Me?

Stage 9

A hilly stage. With a category 3 climb close to the end I will try attack there and take the downhill to the finish.

The Race

With 135km to go we had 4 riders on the front. Gutierrez was leading the pack with Pajaron on his wheel, then Ridenton and Rojas Gil. The breakaway of 11 is staying at about 1.10-1.30.

12km to go now. We have just finished the final climb. Intxausti was working so hard on the front that any attacks from the big favourites got brought right back! That man is going to win a GT one day!

The breakaway group is only 1.04 ahead now.

Up ahead it looked like the breakaway was going to make it! Kessiakoff attacked with 3km to go.

1km to go and Kessiakoff is still leading but Nordhaug is right behind him and is moving very fast!

And Nordhaug takes it! Great win for the Blanco team!

2nd is Rodriguez and 3rd Tiernan-Locke. I came in 4th just behind Rodriguez.

What's up guys!

So we had a great stage yesterday. The team worked so hard. Rodriguez got a bit of time back but today is a mountain stage so I'm not worried about losing my red jersey.

With 2 mountains near the end this is going to be a hard stage. The team is prepared to work hard for me!

The Race

Gutierrez, Pajaron and Costa immediately got on the front of the peloton.

The breakaway of 5 (Kessiakoff, De Sanjose, Txurruka, Moinard and Durasek) has a gap of 3.02 with 109km to go.

A group of 6 got away from the peloton. It included Sanchez, Rodriguez, Me, Valverde, Intxausti and Costa.

Sanchez and Rodriguez were struggling. So I decided to attack and try catch up to Betancur who is about a minute up the road.

I caught up to Betancur with 13km to go. We have 1.02 on Sanchez, Rodriguez and Valverde.

With 5km to go I dropped Betancur! I am making a lot of time on everyone today!

With 1km to go I was leading by a lot. The snow was falling around me and I could see Betancur, Rodriguez, Sanchez and Valverde all down the mountain. I have massive gaps!

I cross the line in 1st place! I feel as though today I have cracked everyone. It is only the 10th stage but I have made a lot of time!

And yeh I agree. I am racing the 2015 Tour at the moment so I think if I start winning like crazy again then I will up the difficulty. I am only on Stage 4 though so will be interesting.

The breakaway of 5 includes Ten Dam, Pajaron, Txurruka, Sprick and Caruso. They have 5.39 on the peloton.

Valverde attacked and I followed. Betancur and Rodriguez were trying to follow.

A 230km mountain stage. Today we climb the Peyresourde. Will be an interesting stage.

The Race

Pajaron is trying for another breakaway.

105 riders lost contact of the peloton that is being led by Pajaron. The Spanish TT champion.

Costa was working on the front hard. A lot of people were feeling it at the back of the peloton.

Valverde started his turn on the front of the peloton. He decided the Intxausti should take the final turn cause he wasn't feeling the best.

With 5km to go it was the new top 4 on GC leading the race. Rodriguez (4th), Betancur (2nd), Sanchez (3rd), and I stay in 1st. It is going to be out of us 4 to win the stage.

Another win for me and the team. I'm really happy at the moment. I am winning by 9.10 to Betancur. It is Colombian domination at the moment. Valverde moved back to 5th overall and Intxausti is in 10th but we still have 3 riders in the top 10 which is a great effort. Another mountain stage tomorrow.
