Ah sorry. I thought you'd said you'd gone away. I probably shouldn't step in though - wouldn't be able to do it all in 3 days.

Stage 5 - Helsingør - 14.1 km

i.imgur.com/s7bwMIH.jpg

Today the GC is decided and with only a 1'20 margin down to the time trial specialists for Adrien Hanzen , the winner of todays stage will not only take the stage but also the jersey, unless Gerain Thomas shows his strong sides

Favorites

Bradley Wiggins(SKY),Jordan Birtles(COF),Geraint Thomas(SKY)

Manuele Boaro(SAX),Lars Bak(LTB)

The Race

i.imgur.com/joIF12G.jpg

Bert Grabsh is the first specialist out, he makes a 18'18 time

i.imgur.com/f8f5xaQ.jpg

Geraint Thomas disappoints with a 18'11 , the winner will have to get a time under 18!

i.imgur.com/deO8VZc.jpg

Manuele Boaro also disappoints with a 18'09 time

i.imgur.com/qdynXn5.jpg

Jordan Birtles however takes the 1st place after a strong finish, he does it at 17'41! Thomas will definitely have red cheeks all day

i.imgur.com/N7IEeDy.jpg

After him comes the only one that are able to content with Birtles, and even though he wasn't best on the checkpoint, he still gets a 17'50 time. Now Birtles only have to wait for the Ciolek and Hanzen's times

i.imgur.com/ZRzyQgn.jpg

Lars Bak has been anonymous and the danish champion ends this with a 18'36 time

i.imgur.com/tKheHQd.jpg

Gerald Ciolek is only 1 minute in front of Birtles, but comes in at a 19'23 time , 1 minute and 42 seconds after

i.imgur.com/n9VyRUy.jpg

A.Hanzen finishes the stage among the bottom 10 with a 19'59 time, barely hanging on the 10 th place overall

GC win was always going to be hard for Hanzen. Still there is much to take away from this race like multiple stage wins in both sprints and up a hil. He'll have the Points jersey and what is still a strong GC position, pretty happy tbh.

It looks like RadioShack are only going to sign 1 EPIC rider at this point, but what a rider!

Suck on that Sky.

I'm amazed by those gaps. I thought he'd struggle to make the podium, never mind put nearly two minutes in to Ciolek.

Stage 5 - Hillerød - Frederiksberg - 166.7 km

i.imgur.com/LnCAI0Z.jpg

Today we venture toward the capital of Denmark to end this stage race. A.Hanzen is expected to win the stage and secure the points jersey. BUT if he manages not to score any points and Ciolek wins then he will win by 1 point, so expect MTN to push hard all day

The Race

Todays Breakway consist of P.Van Hecke , K.Pauwels , M. Brändle , A.Schillinger and W.Mol

P.Van Hecke takes the first sprint points

i.imgur.com/LJuEWmW.jpg

A.Schillinger takes the 2nd sprint as they venture into the capital with a 3'41 lead. Where the pack is led by MTN and CCC

i.imgur.com/bb0p2Bs.jpg

The break tries to keep the 1 minute gap with 12 km to go

i.imgur.com/iFSnUSi.jpg

Still 50 seconds lead for the break as A.Schillinger attacks with 6 km to go

i.imgur.com/aTT3K9r.jpg

Ciolek and Hanzen is both in perfect positions, but the break will hold at this point

i.imgur.com/U2V3Iqj.jpg

K. Pauwels launches the sprint, and no one seem to be able to follow

i.imgur.com/M23WsVg.jpg

And he takes the last win of this years edition of Tour of Denmark

i.imgur.com/4OWHZjZ.jpg

Ciolek surprisingly outsprints Hanzen , but nothing chances in the fight for the Points Jersey.

The Review

This years edition of Tour of Denmark went almost as expected, the need for proper riders where severe to the fact that the break could withhold the pressure from the leadouts. A weak performance by the other teams and the need for more WT teams could've chanced the fact that only 3 stages ended in a mass sprint.

One bright side is that 2 EPIC riders took 3 jerseys and that both are looking really strong. Hanzen outshone all the other sprinters by far and he is one of the biggest talents around. And what goes for Birtles , then you can just look at the fact that he took 10 seconds on Wiggins and with his background, that is quite some of a performance.

Top10 GC, Points Jersey, multiple Stage wins.... Could not have asked for more for Adrien, apparently the freedom of leadership is good for him and bodes well for next season.
Good race for the rest of the team. Geraint and Wiggins both strong as well to cap an all-round great week for Team Sky.

Thanks for the reports, danny. An unexpected winner, but I'm happy for him Wink
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

No BMC in the race, so no chance to screw up. Pfft

Solid effort by Schillinger, though he disappeared in the report after his attack.

I can take the abuse from most managers but not Team Sagan. Pfft

Really? Ciolek finally the best sprinter, but a break is ahead. Still a decent race for me, but a stage win should have been possible Rolling Eyes

Unfortunately we lost Jesleyh as well, so Eneco Tour needs a replacement reporter. If anyone feels up for it, let me know, thanks Smile
