Stage 4
Short circuit, any breakaway can be dangerous so we take the pace in peloton while B.J.Maynes rides with the break..
The stage went quickly to the last 10kms where D.Martin attacks.. Acevedo couldn´t counter but he rides to the front now, behind F.Mancebo(5HR)
Mancebo and Acevedo counter R.Gesink´s attack...
While Mancebo couldn´t stay with Acevedo, our Colombian rider manages to catch up with the front group.. empty but avoided time loss today..
D.Martin wins the stage, gains some bonus seconds wich brings him closer to Acevedo in GC..

Interesting battle for top 3 places... some top10 riders already lost time in such stage, tomorrow´s stage promises to be full of action where many will attack for sure..

*sutty68 - Thanks mate ... next stage we even had 2 eyes but...
Weather Forecast
Stage 5
We join the stage with the peloton climbing Clayton Peak, 2nd kom sprint... we controlled everything until now, where some riders are trying to get away..
With the high pace, almost all from top10 are getting away from the rest... Wren and Varela get droped after all the work they have done..
And guess who´s making that pace... that´s right, M.Cooke it is.. Koren was caught.. 33" for E1..
With Cooke already riding at the front( 3kms to kom sprint), J.Acevedo attacks..
Behind him, D.Martin starts to struggle... F.Schleck makes the pace in this group..
D.Martin isn´t having a good day for sure.. Acevedo feels like +1 but 4 in fitness..
After the top, J.Acevedo and F.Schleck get away.. D.Martin leads the group behind, 51"gap..
With this long descent, Martin gets some fresh air and attacks from his group..
The wheel sucker Schleck didn´t wanted to work, so the group behind catches up..
I knowed this would come.. after loosing almost 1´00" yesterday, F.Schleck and D.Caruso attack.. one more climb to go..
Last climb... with those 2 at the front, Acevedo attacks.. 16kms to go..
Once again, D.Martin attacks from behind to join Acevedo..
Near the 10kms mark, Acevedo tries to catch up with the front duo.. he has to defend his lead..
Janier makes the pace but R.Gesink 3rd GC
+36" attacks.. Acevedo must counter.. D.Pozzovivo goes with..
D.Martin is droped again.. M.Busche and B.Bookwalter are with him..
5kms to go, Acevedo finally cracks..
Janier is completly empty... Bookwalter stays with him..
At the front, F.Schleck wins the stage..
He was a real fighter today.. Janier finishes 7th..

That was solid performance from Acevedo. He was better than some good guys such as Kiserlovski, but it could've been better. And really great (and long) last report. I really like this style.

*Welker3257 - Well, Acevedo did all what he could.. maybe one or two not so good race decisions but he defended his jersey well..
*admirschleck - Aren´t you happy with the winner?
Seriously, i agree with you about Acevedo... now about the report, this was an exception because i wanted to share the entire battle, but believe me, i thought about it( post lenght) all day, (too much work, less support)..

Huge fight, back luck in the end. But Acevedo did well to show some aggressive racing with some well known names and yes, he can't win all of those US races Thrilling race, maybe he shouldn't have attacked that early, but I kinda prefer this aggressive racing than just waiting for someone else to make his move

When reading through the report of the stage, I was really hoping for another win for Acevedo. But unfortunately it wasn't to be his day. |

*tsmoha - That´s why i posted all the pics and not only 3 or 4.. .. when played, it is more intense but glad you could spot that intensity..
Janier is with 4 Fit so it´s kind of hard to do better now.. i´m just not the guy who sits and wait.. i like to attack, no matter what.
*Faillu - me too,
Thank you both.
Weather Forecast
Stage 6 / Last Stage
Half stage done, the 6 men breakaway leads with 11´49"gap..
With 9kms to 2nd Int. sprint, we take the lead in the pack and start the chase..
When we reach the Int. sprint, our pace droped the gap to 7´38"... RadioShack comes to the front now..
5,5kms to kom sprint, top10 riders get away from the pack.. breakaway group isn´t far now, Acevedo will try to get some points at the top..
.. but knowing this guy, he couldn´t just sit there and wait... .. Acevedo attacks with 5kms to kom sprint.. there wasn´t any reaction wich i thought it looks good..
.. i was wrong.. .. with 5kms to go, F.Schleck rides alone at the front, followed by D.Martin, this guy struggled before kom sprint and now just rides away.. no legs for Acevedo..
F.Schleck wins...

And Acevedo almost got Top5 in GC, but it's still nice result!

Oh so close...
But still Acevedo is doing pretty good. Didn't you say he had like 4 fitness. If so, the riding has been extremely good. Who would have thought, a somewhat unknown rider almost would win this race? |

Well at least you tried, be happy for that, Jani can't WIN them all
If Jamis didn't have Acevedo you would've done this story? And this good?
UPC will be exciting!!

Another try, i like sit and wait is just not the way racing should be! Close loss on the KoM, but in general a nice race with a decent andrespectable 7th place for Acevedo!
