Garmin - 4th season Giro d`Italia
baia
At least no time lost....3rd in GC is for sure...maybe Sánchez can pull out something in last stage(is it?)

Gonna be difficult now with Kreuziger winning time, but there's still a chance with 3 decent climbs (?)'in the last stage.

roturn
Not sure if the last stage will bring any time gaps as there is a longer descent in the end and also the hills are not that hard to create bigger gaps I guess.
But top 3 is fine for me actually as Kreuziger and Martin just were stronger.

Tirreno - Adriatico Stage 4
Narni - Chieti
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_4_1.jpg
Really tough stage for the riders today. Some longer climbs on the first 2/3 and then lots of small hills in the final. There surely attacks can split whole groups.
Big favourites for this stage Gilbert, Cunego and Sagan but also Ginanni, Vaugrenard, Gasparotto and Visconti are named.
Fuglsang must try to avoid bigger time loss as he is surely not the best puncheur.

7 riders form todays break. Most known probably Rosseler (Shack), Caruso (Katusha) or Ladagnous (FDJ). No danger for the overall leader Evans as they are ~8 min back.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_4_3.jpg
Nevertheless 4 Movistar riders are working for the Australian on the first longer climb when the advance was at ~9min.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_4_4.jpg
Later they are joined by some riders from Liquigas (Gilbert) and Androni (Ginanni).

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_4_5.jpg
Obviously these two teams have big plans today as they totally took the control over the peloton. The gap really becomes smaller now.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_4_6.jpg
On the first of the small hills with 40km to go the peloton splitted in many parts. A 25 rider group including Fuglsang, Kreder and Phinney are chasing the breakaway. Riders like Cunego, Gilbert or Sagan missed the split and are in the next group while Van Den Broeck even missed that split and is 3 groups back.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_4_7.jpg
Meanwhile Caruso and Ladagnous have gapped their former companions and have a 3min gap now.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_4_8.jpg
With ~15km to go Florencio with a first attack. Many riders found their way back now and it`S a 50 rider group. Just VdB is not here from the GC riders.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_4_9.jpg
Far more dangerous is this move. Gilbert attacks and is chasing the Spaniard now.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_4_10.jpg
Time for more riders to attack. It`s Gasparotto, Ginanni, Sagan, Evans and Vaugrenard.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_4_11.jpg
Followed by Cunego, Failli, Fuglsang, Wiggins and Carrara with 10km to go.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_4_12.jpg
While Fuglsang, Wiggins and Carrara are in the background of this picture trying to join the earlier attackers, Gilbert accelerates again followed by Gasparotto and Ginanni.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_4_13.jpg
With 2km to go former breakaway rider Caruso joined the Fuglsang group. Unfortunately he was not able to close the gap completely but he is doing everything and still in a good position. More couldn`t have been expected.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_4_14.jpg
In the sprint Ginnani was the strongest and wins ahead of another Italian in Gasparotto and Gilbert. The two Italians also overtake Evans in the overall ranking.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_4_15.jpg
Cunego, Evans and Sagan finish 32s later. So Evans is still within reach to conquer the jersey back on a later stage.
Sagan and Cunego obviously not in top form yet as their primary goal might be the Ardennes.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_4_16.jpg
Fuglsang as 10th of the day showed a good performance and finishes with Carrara and Wiggins 1'49 later. With a hard stage and a short time trial still coming he might be able to improve a bit.

Those +200km-stages with short steep climbs in final 50kms are always tough.. I think you did well with Fuglsang finishing 10th here.. there's still a chance for a good overall result!

Don't give up just yetWink

Still good chances to get inside top10...just need to keep fighting..Wink

Top 10 is surely possible. Fuglsang should have advantages against the pure puncheurs on one stage plus the time trial. Top 5 will be hard.

Paris - Nice Stage 8
Nice - Nice
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/PN-8-1.jpg
Last stage of this years Paris - Nice. Although there are lots of hills it will be hard to create any gaps between the favourites.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/PN-8-2.jpg
A bigger group was allowed to attack this morning. Within these riders Danny Pate, who wants to get teh KoM jersey. Unfortunately Dumoulin (Cofidis) is also in this group with more KoM points so far.
With Kirjienka (Movistar), Hushovd (Katusha) or Bazayev (Astana) some well known riders are in there, too.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/PN-8-3.jpg
FDJ controlls the peloton. Kreuziger was a pretty good transfer for them as they are some kind of top team now with him.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/PN-8-4.jpg
With 40km to go Vorganov attacks. It`s the first real attack of a top 10 rider today.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/PN-8-5.jpgi1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/PN-8-7.jpg
Gautier, Anton and Taaramae follow him immediately. Lots of dangerous attacks now.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/PN-8-8.jpg
So Kreuziger has to do something. He attacks some time later with Martin, Joly, LL Sanchez and Cataldo following the Czech.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/PN-8-9.jpg
Kreuziger, Vorganov and Taaramae form the first chase group still ahead of the other top 10 riders.

Kreuziger even joins the breakaway while all other attackers are back in the peloton now.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/PN-8-11.jpg
The group reaches the finish and it is Ligthard with the stage win ahead of Tanner and Kirjienka. Pate lost contact in the end but at least got 2nd in the KoM ranking with 4 points back to Dumoulin.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/PN-8-12.jpg
45s later the peloton including all other big names finish the stage. So no changes in the top 10. Kreuziger clearly was the strongest this week and deserves the win.
Sanchez as 3rd can be happy on the podium.

But most unlucky for us that Kreuziger`s move today let him pass Farrar in the point ranking.

Yep, very nice podium for LLS at P-N! Pity with the KoM, but IMO you did the best possible here Wink

+1 a shame not to win the KoM, but the 3rd position its to be happy (i think Pfft)

A podium finish is definantly yours barring any mis-hapsWink
But i don't think you will overhaul Martin in the time trialFrown

Thanks for all the comments.
A podium in Paris-Nice was indeed fine for me. Just have seen that my sponsor wanted the win there. Well. Don`t really care. Wink
They also want a top3 in Tirreno.

Tirreno - Adriatico Stage 5
Chieti - Castelraimondo
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_1.jpg
It`s rated as hardest stage. Surely an advantage for Fuglsang against of Sagan, Gilbert, Ginanni, Gasparotto or Failli.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_2.jpg
Lots of attack this morning including a 20 rider group.
In the end a medium sized group was allowed to go. Garmin`s Kreder is best placed in there with some 8 minutes behind.
Koren (Liquigas), Barry (Sky), Selvaggi (Vacansoleil), Lund (Leopard) to name some others.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_3.jpg
Astana and Androni are controlling the peloton. The pace is not very high at the moment but the stage is still long and the hardest part is still ahead.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_4.jpg
With 135km (!) to go Giovanni Visconti attacks. With a bit more than 6min behind he shouldn`t create a too big gap.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_5.jpg
Starting with the harder terrain Kreder is in the virtual lead now passing the 10min mark.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_6.jpg
And with the longest climb of the day starting, Visconti bridged the 5min gap in a superb solo ride and joins the group.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_7.jpg
11min to the breakaway on top of the highest point, so the Italian is also new virtual leader ahead of Kreder.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_9.jpg
On the 2nd KoM sprint some riders, who fought for the points created a gap. Unfortunately also Kreder is left behind.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_11.jpg
At the same time Cunego starts the final with a strong attack. Many riders try to follow including Fuglsang, Evans but everything runs together some time later.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_12.jpg
Meanwhile Kreder gapped his companions and follows the leading group solo now.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_13.jpg
Next attack. This time it`s the Australian former race leader Cadel Evans. He surely wants his jersey back.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_14.jpg
Cunego, Fuglsang and Wiggins join him some time later with a decent gap to the next riders including race leader Ginanni.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_15.jpg
Strong ride by Kreder, who really chased the group down and came back. Unfortunately the pace behind is extremely fast now and so the favourites are not that far.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_16.jpg
With the next group coming closer again, Cadel Evans attacks again and nobody is able to follow immediately.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_17.jpg
With 5km to go Evans starts the final descent with a good gap to Cunego, Fuglsang, who also gapped Wiggins now.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_18.jpg
Great win for the Australian. He is back in the leader shirt after this stage and biggest favourite for the overall win now.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_19.jpg
33s later Fuglsang wins the sprint against Cunego for 2nd. Great ride by the Dane, who proved his strength today.
Wiggins lost another 21s to the group but still ahead of the peloton.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_5_20.jpg
In the end the next group lost 2'07 today including former race leader Ginanni.
Biggest losers of the day are Sagan and Gilbert, who both are not in this group. Surely they need to find their form quick before the Ardennes are starting.

Fuglsang is inside the top5 now with good chances to overtake Ginanni and Gasparotto in the final timetrial for a podium spot. But at first he needs to stay with the best on the next hilly stage again. Also Wiggins from behind is really dangerous for this plans.

Tirreno - Adriatico Stage 6
Ussita - Macerata
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_6_1.jpg
A last hilly stage. Fuglsang needs to hold contact and then a podium or at least a top 5 is possible.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_6_2.jpg
Just 2 riders form the break of the day. Garmin`s Martin and De Greef (Omega). Both of them are good uphill riders but lost lots of time so far.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_6_3.jpg
Movistar is doing most work behind taking care for Evans` leader jersey as they obviously don`t want to lose it a second time.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_6_4.jpg
When the gap was at about 7min more teams join with 90km to go. Especially Astana (Gasparotto) and Androni (Ginanni) are interested in todays stage.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_6_5.jpg
It`s Cadel Evans himself with the first attack and it`s still some way to the finish.
Cunego, Ginanni, Vaugrenard and Gasparotto are immediately following.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_6_6.jpg
These 5 riders join De Greef now with Martin being back in the peloton.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_6_7.jpg
But Haussler is closing the gap again. Strong performance by our sprinter today.
Unfortunately Kreder just crashed and felt out of this group.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_6_8.jpg
This acceleration in the peloton splitted the peloton and just ~40 riders are within the best now...

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_6_9.jpg
...where Cunego`s Lampre team is doing a hell of a work now.
When will the Italian attack?

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_6_10.jpg
It`s Peter Sagan instead. This time Fuglsang is following as also Ivanov, Wiggins, Wegmann and some other riders.

But with 1km to go just Sagan was able to keep a gap to the rest.
Also Cunego is attacking right now followed by Evans, while Fuglsang is a bit blocked on the other side of the road.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/PCM11_Mar/tirreno_6_11.jpg
Cadel Evans again. He obviously is in the form of his life. He overtakes Sagan and takes the win with Ginanni being 3rd.

But the worst for us that the first 8 riders including Ginanni and Gasparotto created a 29s gap on this uphill finish. Fuglsang but also Wiggins lost some time today. This will become difficult to overtake the two Italians in the short time trial now and also Wiggins is still close to Fuglsang. This can even destroy our top 5 here.
