I laugh at Evans, now he is riding way too defensive, even to be Evans.
Do the pace on your own, don't care how many will wheelsuck you.
Edit: Evans will probably do his MTT on the last 2-3 kilometres, like he usually does. Wonder when he will realize that is 10 kms too late, at least.

Name any Grand Tour, Giro, Tour of Vuelta, that has ever been raced and I can tell you exactly what happened in that edition. And I guarantee there has never. Ever. Ever. Been this level of tactical stupidty. Ever.
They just gave Schleck the Tour on a plate for absolutely no reason at all whatsoever.
It just makes zero sense.
