because his vision is something that england lack. he spots the open teammate. and he moves in a way that opens spaces for those teammates. plus, is a good ball distributor, so that is another dimension in which he can interact with said teammates.
he is not a goalscorer and will never be. he's the exact opposite of Defoe, who will always score many more goals than crouch and the team will always win a lot less than with Crouch.

actually it's groans about how crap a lanky englishman is
i have hated him since his Southampton days, i have no idea why English people full-on buzz about him
I'm with you Addy - I know he's got better with his feet issoisso, but he doesn't have that vision (and no, any amjount of counter argument won't change my mind), and he gets very lucky with a lot of his goals.
However, the most annoying thing about Peter Crouch is the fact he's about 20 foot taller than everyone else, but he still loses the majority of headers. When you watch him next, just count how many he loses - you'll be shocked

since you insisnt, I won't argue. I've watched enough games to know what I'm talking about and I'm perfectly content to let other people stick with their thoughts
I'll just hope you watch a few of his games and realise the contrary, because it's pretty obvious he has the vision that is lacking from most of the Liverpool team.
especially the forwards. Voronin, Babel most especially

"David Beckham has revealed he will link-up with his England team-mates later this month, even if he is not fit to play." (skysports)
i mean i know Becks is probably the best deliverer of the ball in the world but i still the England need people who can run at defenders. I have no idea at all why Pennant hasn't been given a chance, at Birmingham he was awesome and last year with Liverpool he got better and better.
Wright-Phillips i think deserves a chance also, especially now it looks like he is in the 1st team plans at Chelsea.
I know without Becks we probably wouldn't score half the goals but he is old now and we need to move on and get some youngsters a taste of England so we are prepared for when he finally retires

Pennant hasn't been given a chance because he's crap
Wright-Phillips needs to prove himself in the club game before he gets another stab at international level
And Beckham is still the best player on the pitch - he gives it 110%, no matter what, and his vision and passing is on another level to the rest of the team

Pennant is great.....when things are swell. when the going gets tough, he disappears.
he fades in and out and is generally very inconsistent.
that's why he doesn't get a chance.
and no, I wouldn't shout at you, I'd give my opinion as I always do. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm saying I'm 100% convinced that you're wrong after having seen many of his (Crouch) games, all the way back when he was a Spurs player.
the two segments in bold are two very different things |

Inter sub in Coelho, he gets the ball, dribbles into the box and places a shot next to the post.
this shows that there's a reason that Inter had to pay Porto a few million euros compensation for this 16 year old |

I really like Everton because of Arteta and Cahill, two great players that deserve far more attention than they recieve, it's just a pity Cahill is injury prone

oh yeah good point, i hope Bent starts up front, i hate Keane
i would have a front 3 with Spurs, Bent, Berbatov, Defoe
i mean Keane is probably better thand Defoe but he's one of my favourite players plus that formation would help with the whole playmaker thing, they can just pass it to Berbatov, who can put it through the channels for Bent and Defoe

Keane has a great understanding with Berbatov, so he'll start, have no doubt of that. And I for one think it's the right decision to do so
Bent, as Man Utd's Renë Meulensteen (he is in my humble opinion one of the most brilliant minds in football today) put it:
"Bent is the typical forward coming from an english youth football academy. fast, strong and nothing else"
he's damn right. Bent's tactical awareness is awful. not as horrible as Defoe's, but still awful.
