Great report, and the goal was fullfilled too. Khamphan very disappointing though, who came up with the idea of letting Gaudin lead?
we did, why would we let the main sprinter lead at the cobbles

Taxi for Ballan. Just had a good, long laugh at how useless he is. He almost makes Evans look good.
Van Avermaet with another incredible ride, he is to BMC what Sagan is to Cannondale. One-man team at the moment.
Anyway, amazing report. Fabian, where are you now? That Radioshack PR backfired badly.

Amazing report (as could be expected).
Decent rider from McDermott though I would have preferred more attacking from him and kudos to Verboven for fighting tp hang on for so long.

Van Avermaet should get some sort of consistency award. He was in the top 4 in all four WT cobbled classics.

Good ride from Pal, was where i expected him to be. Missed the goal but i never really thought we'd match it.
Boucher was also great in the break taking the pressure off everyone else.
Now we can start looking towards our next big race of the Dauphine towards the end of the part.

Great stuff Shonak.
Spoiler
Shame about the results. Presumably Cancellara and Boonen have the same fitness as everyone else in the race, and aren't injured, if so .... Well done PCM.
But seriously, wtf with Cancellara. What a load of horseshite! 13th.!
His Paris Roubaix record:
- 4th, 8th, 1st, 19th, 2, 49 (crash), 1st, 2nd, 1st and now THIS (with the weakest cobble line up probably this millennium). The only way he would finish this low is with a broken arm .......... I mean he can put over 1'00 into a group of 10 riders in 10 kilometres on the flat by HIMSELF.
Can't say I am surprised though, it is PCM. The second best cycling game compared to Wii sports resort cycling. It is all we have ..... |

I would hardly call this the weakest cobble line up this millenium - far from it.
All the big ones are here and there's a lot of strong custom riders for this race so I'd say that it's the toughest competition he has ever faced if anything

Pretty sure Cancellara had a -5 there, while Vanmarcke had the opposite
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Thanks everyone on the report compliments!
Indeed, some teams were rather disappointing while others just had bad luck. I tried to cover all aspects but teams like SKY or Lampre just didn't really show anything to report much on them.
@The Rider: Honestly I couldn't believe it myself. But Spartacus was much more active throughout the race than anybody else. He attacked 4 times I think, which makes him easily the most aggressive. The first two times were great efforts in combination with Gaudin (I think I wrote down why it failed in the report), while the other two he didn't push hard enough presumably or the guys couldn't agree on who has to do the work.
He didn't have it in the finale because he wanted to win and risk everything. Actually, the final kilometers were mostly because he wanted to win too much. For example I remember when he and Gaudin nearly dropped at some point but Spartacus prevailed. Instead of allowing himself much needed time to recover, he took charge of the pacing to get Vanmarcke back.

Perhaps .... but Cancellara with Boonen are a long ways ahead of the next best (6 riders top) and light-years yes light-years ahead of the rest. So this 13th result is a pile of Bull. Maybe this isn't reflected well in the stats......
I mean Langeveld finished above him. How the hell? In classics over 200 KM he has two top ten places. He might well develop to win these races in the future, but not now. From this, and the way the race unfolded, you cannot deny there is something iffy with the stats for Langeveld to beat Cancellara in such a fashion.
@ Ollfardh -5 more like -10. |

Of course it's surprising that he ended so far down, but considering how active he were in the race with a lot of strong riders working it's hardly as big a scandal as you make it
I mainly objected to your calling this the weakest cobble lineup in this millenium, which objectively is wrong and teh explanation as to why he was actually controlled compared to real life where a lot of the riders working for the (custom) captains would be chasing secondary positions in stead of chasing. That reduced Cancellara's chances of just riding away without a proper chase being made dramatically IMO.

Disappointing performance from the Cannondale team.
Great report once again, although I skipped some parts as it was so long. |

I hear he's been sacrificed by Chris Horner to grant him eternal youth. Can you confirm or deny these rumours?
